Great for meeting a friend after work or coming in on the train to Back Bay Station. Reasonably priced, good cocktails, very good entrees. I had the Peking Duck, friend had the Salmon.
Server was great, knew the menu and got our food out quickly so we could make the Bruins game in time!
Space was nice and the service was good. The food came out almost immediately after we ordered and unfortunately was cold, indicating they premade some of these dishes and let them sit. A bit disappointing in that aspect, but a good space for chatting with people over brunch and the staff was very good about accommodating our seating preferences.
Food was terrible. Coffee worse!
Our waiter was so kind. I don't know what his name was but he had glasses and really took the time. Food was great. A little loud, but it was Friday night! So fair play!
The noise is very energic. The service is bad
Great Sunday brunch our waiter was Alex he was so helpful & knows his food & drinks we had a great experience will be back for sure!!!
We’ve been here once before and had amazing service at dinner. But today, while our brunch was delicious, our server was very consistently rude in answering our questions (normal ones like, “do you have skim milk for my tea?”... which FYI they don’t). A friend at the table avoided making a substitution on her meal because she literally didn’t want to argue with the server
Disappointing service but I’m hoping it was just an off day for our server.
Jessie was amazing! Bacon is unreal too.
Went on Sunday morning for brunch during a snowstorm, and was empty, which I like! Tried to go on another morning, but was packed and couldn't get in. Had fast and friendly service. Food was good, some entrees were average and then over priced. Brunch food: Potatoes were amazing, and the Crispy French Toast Sticks, were terrific (very sweet and crunchy), the Hangover Pasta was good, but got old of flavor. Overall had a nice little quiet breakfast!
Girls night at a local bar. Bar ambiance.
Great meal and great value!
Staff was a bit rude when we showed up with a stroller. While they eventually accommodated it when I told them I was surprised it was such an issue as the restaurant surely had to be compliant with ADA. We had to wait a bit 45 min past our reservation as apparently 2 tables could accommodate the stroller. One was right by the door which wasn’t going to work on a cold day with a baby. Not really a family friendly place. The food was good. Service was okay though we did get ignored for awhile when we were waiting for our check. Not likely to return.
What a great little surprise. My wife and I dropped my son off at college and searched OpenTable for a local breakfast place. We found Brownstone and went. It was a very cozy, but vibrant atmosphere. The menu was fantastic, which included one of the best Bloody Mary drinks we've ever had. The entrees were fantastic, fresh and very filling. Our server was very attentive and fun. We both loved it and highly recommend it.
Great brunch atmosphere with an awesome waiter that recommended the side of crunchy French toast for the table. Best recommendation!
The service was pretty bad. It took so long for the waitress to come around and get our order and then it took 45 min to get our food out to us.
Had brunch here with a party of 4, saw it on OpenTable's best of Boston. We had a snafu at the beginning with service, with two servers not sure who was taking care of our table, making our first round of drinks arrive 25 minutes after we ordered them. However after that, things improved and our server was friendly. Our food was good, portion sizes decent, and the bloody Mary's kind of weak alcohol wise. The space is fun and lively, like a neighborhood pub, and they were playing rugby on the TV's.
The food was delicious and even though they were out of goat cheese which meant two of the dishes our table wanted to order weren’t available, the food we did end up choosing was really yummy. Our server was courteous and prompt with drink refills as well as knowledgeable about the menu. We enjoyed our meal and would definitely recommend this restaurant. Can’t wait to come back and try the Mac and cheese too!
Crunchy French toast was great to share. All the food was great!
It wasn't crowded, but it was loud, with lots of televisions. Not my scene.
Went for brunch, it was in full sports bar mode and very loud. Tvs on, speakers blaring the game, and patrons yelling over the speakers. Impossible to have a conversation, so my party was disappointed.
That said, on non-game days, the atmosphere is nice, food fairly priced and tasty, and service very good. I’ll go back, but will check to ensure they’re not crowded with game enthusiasts first.
Been there several times. Great place with a relaxed atmosphere. Service has always been spot on and food is great. My most recent experience I had the BEST steak tips of my life!
Food is always good, service was a bit slow today. Always a good choice for a big group for lunch with coworkers.
Group of 6 visiting from Canada. Thanks to our server Kelsie for her patience with us “newbies”.
Portions were generous ... nice char-grilled wings, salmon, steak tips, truffle fries and especially the mac & cheese were solid.
Visited Brownstone for Sunday breakfast with some friends while at a conference nearby. It is definitely a pub, and I can imagine that the place really hops in the evenings. For our early breakfast, the food was solidly good: tasty options on a fairly standard breakfast/brunch menu. All was well prepared; the potatoes on the side were particularly good. Service was friendly, attentive and accommodating. i would certainly return!
Thanks to our server for accommodating more people than expected and folks coming in and out! So kind and flexible!
I took my brother and his wife and kids there recently for my belated birthday dinner. The place looks like just a neighborhood sports bar. But our waiter was super attentive and our food was terrific. Tasty and plentiful. It was nice that the place wasn’t super loud. And they comped my last drink as a birthday nod. I’ll be back.
Went here for lunch on a workday and almost left before receiving our food because it took so long to come out. Part of my fried chicken was raw, and server was nowhere to be found most of the meal.
Excellent brunch! Everything is scratch-made. Definitely recommend the frittata of the day. House salad dressing is amazing! They were hospitable and accommodating, especially since we were traveling with bulky luggage. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. Looking to go back again!
When you sit down to dinner and the restaurant is already out of 5 things on a menu that is not extensive, it's not a good sign. While a lively venue, the food was average and we happened to have very poor service. Not someplace we'll go back to as there are so many other choices in the area.
Staff was excellent. Food was amazing! Try the Poutine! We just got engaged, and this was the perfect place for dinner. I highly recommend, this restaurant and will be back in the future.
I was disappointed. The restaurant was extremely loud, so it was hard to even talk to my friend. The food was fairly bland, especially my quinoa burger, which was also fried (didn’t expect that)! Service was okay, and our waiter was pretty friendly but very busy. I wouldn’t go again.
We were highly disappointed with this restaurant and the food. Ridiculous that there is a one page menu for food and 3 pages for alcohol. We do not drink.
Food was good and quick! My friends had the combo (french toast was amazing) and the eggs Benedict. I had the avocado toast. My only complaint is that the avocado was very cold which brought down the temperature of the toast and the poached eggs. The best part of the dish were the heirloom tomatoes.
Our table was very comfortable and the atmosphere was relaxed, although the lighting was too low especially for brunch. Overall the total was $54 which I think is very reasonable for 3 people at a nice brunch.
Excellent and creative breakfast menu. Friendly waiter and bar tender. Will go back when I visit Boston.
Excellent brunch spot the food is great and the Sunshine is a great brunch drink!
Very disappointing, we were seated in a rather dimly lit area, very dark hard to see,
food was mediocre at best!
Always enjoy a meal at Brownstone. Have come for brunch twice and they do a great job. The food is delicious, decent price point for the city, good variety of food options, and the service is always really good.
Great brunch options and excellent service!
Brownstone is one of my favorite spots in Boston. The cuisine by Chef Kelly is creative and delicious. The service is always spot-on, and the drink selection is awesome. I can't recommend it enough- go check it out!
