When we arrived they didn’t have our reservation. The hostess said the system was down. However it didn’t matter as the restaurant wasn’t very busy. She tried to seat us at the table directly behind the hostess stand, but we asked for another one. The waiter came over to our table immediately to ask for our order-we hasn’t even sat down No offer of drinks. When we ordered, we ordered both appetizers and dinner. Our appetizers came out and and then about 3 minutes later our meal. I ordered the grilled octopus appetizer for dinner(which he knew was my entree) and my spouse ordered the mixed grill. His meal has absolutely no flavor. It was supposed to have Greek potatoes, tomatoes, onions and tzatziki sauce. It came with fries and nothing else. We had to flag down another waitress to ask for the sauce and some break. Our waiter was not busy though he wasn’t present either. I would definitely not done her again.
I was very disappointed in our experience this time. I asked for a wine menu and the waiter started rattling off wines. I again asked to see the menu. He said it wasn't worth bringing the menu as they were out of so much! The 2 different bottles of wine we ended up with were a let down.
There was a party going on in the restaurant and we decided to dine in the bar for a quieter experience. There was only 1 waiter for the the bar area and there were several occupied tables in the bar so service was lacking. And the food just was not as good as on a previous visit. The grilled octopus was missing flavor, and the moussaka also lacking spices. Sadly I would not return.
We have been there several times now since they opened. Our first experience left something to be desired, but since then it has been consistently good. Our server was new, but she knew the menu well and did a great job.
Great food, efficient service, friendly staff. Thank you!
The food was very good and the overall experience quite exceptional.
We visited Brousko for an anniversary dinner on a Monday night, which is definitely a slow night. The food was excellent and authentic Greek cuisine. Everything we orders was delicious. I'd expect this place is much more livelier on a Friday or Saturday night as they have it set up for music and lights.
I have been to this restaurant about 6 times in the last 3 months. When its good, its great. However, three times I've ordered a glass of wine off of the wine list and they don't have it. Once when I ordered it, the waiter brought me something else. When I notified him that it wasn't what I ordered he stated 'we're out of the one you ordered so I brought this instead'. Didn't tell me or ask me, just made the decision for me. Last week I brought 5 work colleagues with me, some from out of town. We ordered Saganaki, a Greek standard and they had none. The restaurant was not crowded - it was a Wednesday @ 5:30 p.m. - and the service was awful. That waiter messed up our drink order as well and then tried to pawn off the drinks he mistakenly brought on us. So very disappointed.
The food here is always good! We have not had a complaint coming to Brousko. Elias is the best server!!!!
Our first visit to this restaurant. Overall very pleased. Sampled quite a few dishes. Gyros was just average, but the rest was very good. Service was outstanding. Good value for the money and an enjoyable meal.
My friend’s w
The food here is fresh, well-prepared and delicious. I cannot recommend it enough. I've eaten here four times in the last four months because I just can't get enough. The grilled octopus appetizer is so tender inside, yet crispy and charred to perfection on the outside. So good!!
Great food. Great atmosphere. Pretty loud music although great singers. Our particular waiter was much to slow and inattentive.
They claimed we did not have a reservation and we were turned away. Rude hostess, will not return.
Without a doubt some of the best Greek food we have had in all of the Chicago area, including Greektown. Some confusion over our OpenTable reservation as they said OpenTable “didn’t turn off” and overbooked them. Still, they sat us and no one was waiting for seats when we left, so seems to be a front of house organizational issue. There was no live music when we were there, but the speakers were huge in the dining room so could aee how noise might be an issue when bands are playing. Still, food & service were excellent. We’ll be back.
Excellent food , I recomend to everyone , and I will be going there again and again .
Absolutely unacceptable service, double booked with open table and phone. We walked out when they told us 40 minutes after we made an online reservation.
Food was amazing, very fresh and great flavor! Unfortunately the service was lacking and all around lacked attention to our table of 3.
We visited on Greek Easter Sunday and the noise level from the live music was such that it was nearly impossible to hold normal conversation at the table.
Food was very delicious. It was the best Greek food we ever had. Service was slow. I needed to get up and find our server to get our bill. Live music was very loud, even way in back. We needed to move our seating location because we could not have a conversation. We were packed in too tight. The people at the table next to us kept on getting up and bumping into my wife's chair. They must have been the owner's family. They kept on going into the kitchen and coming back with plates of food. I made a reservation online with a note that it was our wedding anniversary. I expected a little something to happen. Nothing did. My mistake was probably going for dinner on Orthodox Easter. But the food impressed us so much, that we will probably try them again.
great food, lamb was awesome, they had live music which was very nice. Going back for sure.
Spent Greek Easter at Brousko and it was outstanding! Saganaki was amazing along with the paidakia dolmades and pastitio all very authentic. The live music was a nice surprise Evegnia did a fantastic job cant wait to return!
First time there. It was Greek Easter. Loved the decor was beautiful. Food was good. Our waiter was a little frazzled. Forgot our potatoes even asked a second time. I would definitely go back again.
There is nothing on that menu that I would not eat. Outstanding place.
Food and service in general were OK. Very disappointed that for a Greek restaurant they ran out of baklava for dessert on a Friday night around 7pm. I would not recommend this restaurant nor would I go back.
A little pricey but the food was great and the service was excellent!
Authentic is the word that comes to mind. The moment you step into the main dining room you are transported to the Greek isles. Then the food comes and you know the place is legit. My daughter and her husband honeymooned in Greece last year and they were very impressed. My wife and I shared the whole grilled fish and we're both very satisfied with taste and the large portion. Highly recommend for the dining experience and value.
Seems tired and a little shabby.
Food was mediocre-Lamb shank was tender but so salty as to be inedible. Moussaka was more like shepherds pie.
While server was sweet, the service she provided was subpar. She forgot items even when asked then they still showed on the check. Had to repeatedly for water.
It may we’ll have been that they were understaffed -but three geezer owners/managers hovering but doing nothing doesn’t help either.
Geriatrics seem to like it but this place is tired and not worth the effort.
This was my first experience with Greek. I was very pleased!!! Very clean, staff was extremely nice. We were seated in the bar area and it was very tight, we had a larger man in our group and it was tight. We backed up next the the table behind us, he was a bit uncomfortable but the food made up for it.
I had the cod and it was the best I have ever had. Will most certainly be going back again.
Very good food! Service is horrible!
Horrible experience. I've been going to this place every week for the last six months and last Saturday was really bad
They advertise Greek dancing and they never made sure that becomes available.
Very rude. I was disgusted
The food is ABSOLUTELY delicious! I love Greek food and highly recommend this restaurant!!
Table of 5, and 4 entrees were over the top great! One entree (chicken souvlaki) was a bit dry.
The prime lamb chops we're truly exceptional! Will return.
Great tasting food and more than enough portions, transports you to Greek culinary experience.
Went to dinner on a Saturday nigjht.
No hostess so had to wait to be seated.
Place is very authentic and had a live band playing. Very nice.
Menu was extensive with all of our favorites.
Only compalint would be wished they had a make your own combo plate so i could
have tried a number of items.
Food was very good.
Server did best she could but i think they may have been under staffed,
Had to ask for check as waitress never came back to table.
Overall a good experience and we will be back.
The presentation of each dish was very appealing and matched the wonderful taste profile for the dish.
Our service was excellent and attentive enough for our whole group of 8. The bread was fresh baked and the salads very bright in color and even a small was large. Overall a pleasant evening dinner where we all could talk in a quiet ambiance.
Food is good, entertainment excellent, service a bit slow on busy nights but good.
We had such a wonderful evening! Our waiter, George, was very nice, got our orders correct and timed well with the appetizers and main dishes. There was no live music the night we were there, but the overall the ambiance was nice and we could hold conversations without having to strain to hear each other. The lighting was pleasantly dim and the presentation of the food was visually appealing. Portion size was just right.
Appetisers: The meatballs were great - hot, slightly crunchy outside, and juicy and flavorful inside. The tszaziki was good, but needed a tiny bit more dill. I found the Dolmades bland - the grape leaves just didn't have that tartness that makes this dish stand out.
Fresh tomatoes are essential to a Horiatiki salad and I feel you cannot have an outstanding experience with mealy, tasteless tomatoes, no matter how lovely the presentation. Salads are an art and they deserve home grown or on-the-vine tomatoes. In a pinch, I'd suggest a Costco run for the Campari tomatoes or don't bother serving it. I don't mean that unkindly, but as at least fifty percent of the Horiatiki salad is tomatoes, I'd really rather pass altogether if it's not delicious.
I also felt the feta was a little bland and not that lovely crumbly creamy texture that I expect from a really good feta. I prefer something like Dodondi, as it has a lovely texture and more pungent flavor.(Apologies if I didn't recognize a more authentic version than I am used to!)
In terms of main entrées, I had the Brouska Chicken with lemon sauce, capers, sun dried tomatoes and artichokes. My husband and son loved it, but I found it just a little salty. The leg of lamb was like butter and very flavorful. The gyro plates were gorgeous ! The potatoes were wonderful - cooked soft and soaked with sauces and oil from the main entrées. Yum!
All in all, we had a wonderful evening,
and I wouldn't let my insane pickiness prevent you from enjoying a wonderful evening out! Oopah!
Great Greek food. Nice relaxing ambiance. Servers are friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Would highly recommend!
Service was poor at best. Server did not seem to know the menu well and was unaware items were not available until after we ordered. The wine list is limited and not good quality. The food tasted good, but by the time it arrived at our table it was only warm - not hot. Not likely we fill go back.
The food that we ordered was very flavorful. The service was not so good and the waiter was a bit boring.
