Brooklynite Ratings and Reviews
Visit to Brooklynite started off great. Was there for about an hour when we were approached by the hostess asking if we were leaving soon. She needed the table for other guests. I was completely taken back. I am a paying customer like all the other customers there. I am one to make reservations at any place that will take them. I had a reservation for my table but was rushed to leave. Don't think I'll go back.
My wife and I decide to visit Brooklynite and some other bars in the area to experience San Antonio nightlife for our reality show. This bar was our number #1 in our list. I personally was totally impressed with the bad service provided from the staff. No one greet to us as soon we walked in. The hostess didn't greet our welcome us; all she said was "please follow me so you can be serve".
I want to clarify that the bar was not busy at all and there was more employees behind the bar, playing around and not walking the floor assisting customers. After 20 min of wait time i walked over to the main host and i told the young lady that we've been waiting for a while and no one have approach to us.
I have a message to the bar owner or manager:
-Check your employees name badges and servants name on the bill tab. Apparently my servants name on the bill ticket is "LAZY WAITER"
-The bar is very elegant and full of beautiful painting on the walls. But your employees uniforms or dress code doesn't go along with the bar image.
-Limit the amount of people behind the bar. I can't really tell who's my bartender and who is my waitress/waiter.
-Enforce staff about customer service. I'm not your friend or family member. I like to be treated with respect and to know you want my business.
This is all I have to share with OpenTable. Unfortunately experience will be share to the public and to ours followers.
The mixologist concoctions are unique and a bit heavy on the bitters in some cases, so they will probably appeal most to an advanced liquor palette.
The speak-easy theme is quite obvious, if a bit cheesy. A lot of the decor looks like it could be bought at Hobby Lobby, but it does the trick. There is a cozy, romantic atmosphere perfect for a date.
The music is an odd choice though. Instead of playing venue-appropriate jazz, the bar plays generic bar 80s/90s rock. It is a bit confusing to the senses.
Music level set so we could hear each other, lighting nice for sitting together and talkng, cocktails were AMAZING! Try the Dark and Stormy for sure. Everything was great. Note - no food so hope the food trucks are there. We went for a rare night when no food truck arrived so we were quite sad about this. Great service too!
I went here on my birthday- the night I went they were celebrating the end of Prohibition.
It was very lively - great music by the DJ , etc.
As always the drinks were exceptional- the list of drinks that evening complemented the event.
The Loca Vore food truck had amazing food- they even brought the food in to us.
Definitely now of my favorite places in the city.
I had read some reviews about this place and was excited to go. The photos on the website made it seem like something different than when I actually arrived. I was expecting the decor to be the same throughout, but the "speak easy" themes were random instead of all of over the place. Their house and classic cosmos were good, but the flavors were strong. I can tell the bartenders take their time in making each cocktail the right way, but the flavors were not for me. I wish they had a bigger beer selection and that they served their own food rather than let a food truck because the food truck does not compliment the drinks at all. Overall, I don't think I'm coming back, but that's because I'm more of a bar and grill kind of guy over cocktails
Their website, internet ranking and photos suggest a reasonably sophisticated cocktail bar. It is not. It is to my estimation a bit "seedy".
There is no service. No one greets you at the door, you can sit for as many minutes as you want because there is no table service. My drink was fair at best not worth the price paid. Matched the surroundings and ambience. If you are looking for a "Cocktail Bar" experience you might go elsewhere.
Food is not served but the drinks are fantastic.
Unfortunately they were served without a smile, personality or modicum of customer service. This was not due to a large crowd as there were 4 patrons (including us) and 2 bartenders. Unfortunate, as we will not be returning. Great product but customer service goes a long way.
Celebrated my birthday here and it being my first time, I made reservations to ensure a table. This place is a hidden gem. The crowd is young professionals and up. Wasn't too fond of the Casino cocktail but I did ask my cocktail waiter to surprise me with something fruity and sweet. He came back with a Daquiri cocktail which was excellent! The Communist cocktail was as superb! Will be definitely coming back whenever I visit San Antonio!
There was a great ambience right as soon as you walked into the bar.
Waiter was exceptional- each of the cocktails was amazing- taste profiles were as advertised and each layer of flavor revealed itself one by one- not all at once. The food truck outside is a great idea- Tailgate Bistro was outside and the Avocado fries were out of this world. Would recommend for a special occasion or a group function- small and vibrant with great service. Will be back again to experience more of what is the the Brooklynite.
Nice drinks, no food served inside. Different food trucks provide the edibles. Amazing craft cocktails. Each cocktail is hand made with tremendous detail, it does take time to get your drink. Staff is extremely knowlagable so tell them what your in the mood to taste.
Don't expect immediate service. If you happen to show up right after a rush you could be looking at at least a 30 minute wait for drinks. We had reservations and it still took a very long time to be served and had to approach the bar for service. When service did come it was well received and high quality overall. At the end of the night the drinks made up for the wait.
A true handcrafted drink. This establishment doesn't just want your money. They want you to experience the truth behind why liquor was intended. Anyone can mix a drink and charge $9. This places creates an experience and serves up a quality cocktail to go with it. As for the food, I don't believe there is any.
Stopped into Brooklynite for pre-dinner cocktails. It wasn't vey busy so we had the attention of a great bartender. We told him what we liked and he guided us in what to try. My husband was blown away by the Philly Smash. Interior is Frey chic. We loved the old cartoons showing on the big screens.
Love the Brooklynite! I've come here often but this is the first time I reserved a table for my birthday celebration. They had my table ready and we got to try there new spring menu. The bartender also made up drinks for us. It's such a great, classy place! I highly recommend this place. Especially if you like original cocktails. There is a lot a gin -based drinks but also a lot of great whiskey-based drinks as well. The bartenders are always friendly as well.
This was my second trip to the Brooklynite. I would say that I enjoyed their summer menu offerings more, but perhaps my sampling of drinks this time around was not as wisely chosen. Everything I tried over the summer was on point. The other night, though, a couple of drinks were a little bit off.
Overall, still a great experience and a great place for a pre- or post-date spot. Probably the best cocktail bar in SA, definitely the best that I've had. House cocktails are creative and have yet to have one that did not impress.
This little bar was hard to find and not at all what I expected. My grown up children liked it due to the seating - which was in a little tucked away part of a bigger room and we were seated on love seats. The drinks menu is pretty specfic and they don't carry many wines or beers that you'd find in a regular drinking or eating establishment. The greeter was very nice and called a cab for us. The rest of the staff was nice and friendly. If you have a group of friends who like to talk and drink, this may be just the place for you. It just wasn't what we were looking for.
This was our second visit to Brooklynite. The first was wonderful. Sadly, at this second visit, we were embarrassed to have brought friends to an establishment with such poor service. The staff seemed to have no interest in their customers or their jobs. A 5-minute wait at door (with no host to seat us as the signage required), and a 25-minute wait at table for service (just to take our order). We more or less had to beg for service. There are many options in San Antonio for a good cocktail. I thought that Brooklynite was a great find for pre-dinner conversation and cocktails (made well). The quality of the drinks is high, but the appalling service makes this place a no-go for us in the future.
Brooklynite is a great addition to the San Antonio lounge scene. The delicately-made cocktails were delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect for consuming them. The friendly staff members were always available for service or questions. We had a wonderful evening at Brooklynite, and I'll be looking forward to trying more of their offerings as I work through the cocktail menu.
The Brooklynite serves a variety of classic cocktails plus offers a great wine and beer menu. The dim lighting and great mix of music provides an amazingly relaxing atmosphere throughout the entire bar. The food trucks that work on a rotation out front offer some very interesting and delicious creations. The truffed shrooms and tots from Tapa Tapa were sensational!!
Hannah, who greeted us at the front door, was warm and personable. Javi, our server, was terrific and patient with my friend, who was "particular". This place is for cocktail drinkers who want cocktails that are creative and delicious. The atmosphere is elegant and slightly funky. Fun, upscale bar.
