Very courteous and helpful manager and staff
This has been Italian week for us… The night before , we ate at Nostrana, a SE Portland classic . There ,we were rushed by the waiter, it was overly noisy, and the food was very good but not great as I remembered. What a contrast compared with BT.
I have been to Brooklyn Trattoria many times since it’s opening and it has progressively gotten better and better and last night was amazing.… The ambience was great.....with calming Italian music, mood lighting in the dining room and bar , and the crowd noise level was low. The service and food were wonderful as always .....especially the bruschetta with the wild mushroom topping which won’t last as the season is coming to an end. I had the salmon which was perfectly cooked. Last night was special because the owner, David, made time to sit and chat with us for a bit and suggest some great wines that we never had tried. Overall I felt like I had dined in a small Tuscan town over an extended dinner and magically appeared back in Portland this morning. If you wait until traffic dies down , it is DEFINITELY worth the 15 minute drive from downtown for a wonderful dinner(experience).
I wanted to like this place so badly that I took my husband there for his birthday. We ordered an appetizer, salads and entrées. The appetizer and salads came at the same time and we rushed to eat them because right on their heels were the entrées. I was still pausing with my fork to my mouth when I asked if they could take my entrée away. And then dessert followed immediately. We were home by 7:15 after making a 6:15 reservation. We live 15 minutes away. I've had more leisurely dinners at a fast food place. Unfortunately, the sauce was flat And the meatballs were hard as a rock and so dense. You shouldn't have to cut a meatball with a knife. I was looking forward to the brussels sprouts but they weren't soft and caramelized. It was like somebody fried them for half a second and then threw a bunch of balsamic on them. It's too bad because it's a cute place.
The mushroom over polenta was amazing!!
Service was excellent!!!
An excellent experience from beginning to end. Great food and decent portion sizes. Service was attentive and pleasant. We are already planning our next visit.
We opted to take our friends visiting from out of state to the Brooklyn for dinner. It is one of our favorites and they really enjoyed it too.
Food was delicious with large portions. Old Fashioned was just OK but generous pours of wine. It's a fancy restaurant in a not-so-fancy area so you get a mix of date night and casual patrons.
David, the owner of the restaurant, came from Brooklyn, NY and tried to duplicate the Italian dishes he knew from the restaurants in Brooklyn. This is an excellent neighborhood restaurant with pasta, special items, and fixed price selections to choose from. There is a bar area serving wine and cocktails. The decor of the restaurant is excellent and the servers very friendly. I recommend the restaurant for any occasion.
The food is absolutely delicious. I really cannot fault Brooklyn for having a packed houses. With their quality of food, it is to be expected.
Staff is always kind, and the food is superb! The seasonal ravioli is always a treat. The osso buco is “life-changing”. I’d highly recommend for any special occasion
In all fairness regarding the noise level being low, we were there in the middle of the week on a very stormy evening so not many people there. When full I have no idea. Atmosphere was cozy and warm, service excellent and very friendly, food was delicious. First time we had been there which is sad since we only live a few blocks away but an out of town guest wanted Italian so we decided this was the time to try it. We were all completely satisfied with our meals. My almond salmon dish was amazing!
The entrees that came for the four us were well executed, but I was disappointed with the appetizers and desserts. Both were poorly done and undercooked. The appetizers looked 'slapped together'--where the brussel sprouts were cold and raw--I took them back to the kitchen. The desserts were both undercooked--the cream brulee was runny--did they not make them ahead of time, warming and torching just before serving? The second dessert--apple crisp--was cold and the apples where raw--this was put in the oven but for a few minutes, the corn starch had not thickened, it just ran down to bottom the serving container. Again, the entrees were great--the before and after left were very disappointing--definitely not worth the price that was charged. This will not longer be a restaurant I will take guests, which we did this time, but leave it for a quick pasta meal--good enough for that.
The food and service at Brooklyn Trattoria are both outstanding. We've been 4 times and are looking forward to number 5! The quality of food is excellent, and it's been consistent each time we've visited. David, the owner, is passionate about the restaurant and clearly takes great pride in everything related to it. His staff is also consistently outstanding. Everything from the appetizers, entrees, desserts and bar menu are delicious. This is an easy 5 star rating.
Great place e for a night out as a couple or with friends. Our meals were superb and the service excellent. A great experience overall.
Our first visit and enjoyed it very much. Food is excellent - solid Italian/American with Northwest influences. Some impressive wine choices available - it's obvious they care. Service was competent and friendly - we felt very welcomed. Will be returning soon!
Loved that the owner visited our table. We all enjoyed our food. It was a nice quiet atmosphere to talk in.
Absolutely adore this restaurant! Fantastic service, incredible dishes, and I can’t say enough about the chocolate mousse. My husband and I have a hard time sharing it!
Their risotto is what dreams are made of. It’s perfection. Whether it’s a special celebration or you just want a really great Italian meal - this is the place. I can’t wait to go back, and look forward to that risotto when it’s cold outside. YUM!
We love this restaurant! Good food, good atmosphere, and it's a great date night!
They seemed a little understaffed so service was a little spotty but the food was excellent. I would definitely return.
Food was pretty darn good. There was a mention by a couple in our party that a little more sauce would have been nice, but mine dish had adequate sauce. Our server failed to inform us as to the specials. When I saw that they had a caprese salad that was not on the menu I had to walk over to another staff/server to let our server know we wanted that item. We had already received the other salads and they did get it out within a reasonable time. The server did not really seem too interested in explaining the menu or making recommendations. The last time we were here it was quite a bit different.
We will be back of course but we will hope to have someone else. The owner did come to our table to say hello which was very nice and appreciated.
While my review focuses at first on the server, we all enjoyed our time there. The blue cheese chopped salad was great. The eggplant parmigiana was quite good too. Other had veal piccata which looked good.
This was our second time here. The first time was during Restaurant month. The true test of a good restaurant is whether the food is good every time that you eat there - consistency is key. I wanted to go back here for my birthday and I was not disappointed. It was even better the second time! All of the wait staff are polite, friendly and interactive. We ordered spinach and cheese arancini for an appetizer. It was wonderful. I had the short rib pasta and it was delicious - just like the first time that I had it. Lots of tender meat that comes apart with your fork - so flavorful and enough to take home for a second meal. My husband had the crab ravioli and he raved about it. It was a large enough portion for a 6ft 4 in man and it tasted amazing. I got the cannoli for dessert and since it was my birthday it was complimentary. The cannoli is as good as anything that I can get in NYC or Rome. I totally recommend this restaurant. So nice to find a neighborhood place close to home that has excellent food and service and is half the price of going to downtown Portland.
The Med salad, lamb osso buco, and salmon were all excellent. Waitress was great and we had an extended conversation with the interesting owner.
Service was great. Staff was fairly knowledgeable. Food was great. Funny story though... we were seated at tables that on one side had a cushioned seat. The other side had a chair. There are tables and chairs the sit higher in the middle area. I sat with my back to those higher tables.
A older woman came in with a laptop computer and sat down in one of these higher tables and chairs without the staff seating her apparently. A staff person asked politely what she was doing and explaining that normally people wait to be seated. She was right behind me. The staff person left and the lady promptly passed gas very loudly. And right by my head.
I looked at my wife and asked if the woman seriously just did that by my head. Amazing. Of course the woman tried to play it off as if nothing happened.
This was our first experience here and it will be memorable for a very very long time.
As far as the food, I loved the blue cheese chopped salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly in my main dish. My wife had two wonderful dishes, including the gnocchi with the lemon sauce. It was a bit strong for me but she enjoyed it.
We liked the restaurant enough that we are bringing my wife’s parents here next weekend.
I always order the Laredo chicken sausage and somehow this time it was a bit different. Not sure if because I just came from Europe and was expecting stronger truffle taste, but I could taste the truffle during this visit. But nevertheless it is still one of my favorite go to place for pasta cravings!
The food was ok. One of the dishes came out smoking but was cold indicating that it was in a microwave. This was the creamy polenta. I wouldn’t order it again. The waitress took 50% off the dish which was nice. The meatballs were good and the clams excellent as always. The fried ravioli although interesting sounding were dry and rather tasteless. Overall, the food has taken a little dip in what I remember it to be but it’s still worth the visit. I probably should have ordered the usually amazing chicken sausage pasta. Next time...
This is my in my wife’s “umpteenth” time eating at BT And the food never ceases to amaze me and it’s quality and consistency with enough menu changes to keep things interesting. Chef Nick and staff are really on top of their game with new recipes using seasonal local products. On this particular occasion I had the best caprese salad and crab stuffed ravioli! The owner David S Joined us for a few minutes which is always a great additional perk when dining here. The wine menu varies and is always interesting now it’s mainly showcasing local Willamette Valley wines as well as choice Italian wines. We sat outside in perfect weather on the nicely decorated patio.… Can’t wait for my next visit.
nice place, local. Pretty tasty and always friendly. Owner often comes around to chat and check on the service/food.
What a wonderful restaurant! It was my husband's birthday dinner and each and every staff member wished him a happy birthday! The food is EXCELLENT, the service is EXCELLENT, and the atmosphere is WONDERFUL!
Everything was great but I had made a note and called in to remind that when my husband orders his dessert to please bring it in with candles because it was his birthday. But nothing was done and no apology given for forgetting as well.
Food was amazing. Great bruschetta and caprese appetizers. Main courses were a combination of pasta dishes, picatas, and marsala. All were excellent. Turns out Wednesday nights are 1/2 price wine by the glass. Also great!
Solid Italian eatery. Awesome that we have it in north Beaverton.
Food was great! Innovative, tasty, well prepared.
Food was very good....we all enjoyed our meals....the service was great, attentive and friendly....the atmosphere was comfortable and casual with a nice bar as well. I look forward to returning and trying other menu items next time!
Brooklyn Trattoria was definitely a winner. It was the first time for all of us, and we all loved it! Family was in in town, but we’re going to end up coming here a lot ourselves!
Our server was Mandolin, and she was very charming and knew the menu very well. We did have a question that she couldn’t answer herself, but was quick to come back with it.
Inside, it was very warm and cozy. Not cramped, we could hear each other, and just atmospheric in general. When we left, the chef was right there to let our compliments rain down on him. I suppose if you had critiques you could offer them, but we had none!
On to food: they had seasonal heirloom tomatoes, and we had them on their bruschetta and the caprese salad. They were beautiful and flavorful, so glad we got to try them! Someone got the chicken piccata, and was very happy with it. Another got the bistecca, which was so tender you could almost spread it on toast. Someone else got the osso buco, which was incredibly delicious and made all of us a little bit jealous when it came out. I got the seasonal ravioli (crab and cheese) served with a veggie corn succotash. The ravioli was good, but I wish I could get the succotash in body weight. It was sooo good! We all sampled each other’s meals, were pleased with our choices, but agreed it’d be hard to go wrong!
One more note: I’m in a wheelchair and it was a non-issue inside. The parking lot was a different issue. Didn’t see any disabled parking, and no ramp to get to the walkway. Was weird.
Special neighborhood trattoria. Very attentive service and good food - the salads were especially
excellent. Went there for happy hour, but were told we needed to sit in the main dinning room -
too bad we heard so many wonderful reviews about the happy hour. We will definitely return and
recommend to our friends
Already have! So great to have this restaurant near Beaverton and Hillsboro. Great spot to have a real visit as the noise level is perfect for carrying on a conversation and yet experiencing the wonderful ambience. We sat (4 of us) in a crescent-shaped padded booth - so roomy and comfy. The food was absolutely delicious!
Thank you for choosing to spend your birthday with us!
The ravioli and eggplant were tasty.
We love this place! Great food at a fair price, and the service is 5 star. We met the owner, David, who checked back with us several times. The menu has most of my favorite Italian dishes, and some terrific steaks as well. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed!
Enjoyed the evening. Overall very good value and service was attentive and friendly.
We had excellent service by Ashton K , good suggestions, checked on us frequently, food served hot and as described in menu. He was attentive to our questions and requests. We always get delicious food here and it is well prepared and authentic.
Awesome! We will let Ashton know! Come see us again soon.
Myself, and my group, loved just about everything about our experience at Brooklyn Trattoria. The environment is cozy and intimate - perfect for catching up and enjoying company. The wine selection is good, and they offer half bottles which I always appreciate. The food is DIVINE. We had the fried ravioli as an app, and for entrees had the shrimp scampi, pesto pasta, and chicken sausage Alfredo. We all loved our dishes and really enjoyed what we ordered. Additionally, the owner of the restaurant stopped by our table and let us taste a couple of wines that he had just added to the menu. You can tell he cares greatly about the wine and food at his restaurant- and the guests feel it! Highly recommend.
