Brooklyn Chop House
Great lunch! We chose the prix fixe. Onion soup dumplings and veggie rolls to start. Dumplings were delicious. Perfect starter for a cold day. Next beef with broccoli and black bean chicken. Chicken was perfectly spiced. Not too sweet. Small bite sized tender chunks. Beef also well seasoned and broccoli still crunchy. Dessert fried apple filled dumplings with vanilla ice cream. To die. Service was attentive although kitchen was somewhat slow. We were not in a hurry so it was all good. Will certainly go again.
Love this place, dumplings are AMAZING. Everytime I eat there the owner comes to the table, Hes a wonderful man!
Lobster Fried Rice is my Fave, Philly Cheese Dumplings and Broccoli!
The food and ambiance was amazing. The wait was very long but although we had a reservation. Very hip trendy crowd, great music selection.
Bartender, Hostess, Server (Christine), and bus staff extremely helpful and pleasant. Outstanding staff. Managers were amazing also.
Excellent Service and Great Food!
Food was outstanding and service impeccable! The menu options are absolutely unique and delicious!
Please note, this is my first review at OpenTable and regularly dine throughout the United States and abroad for both business and leisure. I am leaving this review since I was thoroughly disappointing by the waitress and wanted to inform any potential guests who plan on hosting a business dinner of the lack of professionalism and training at the venue.
The overall food and experience was good however the waitress was terrible.
The waitress didn't provide an opportunity to taste the wine despite ordering both expensive reds and whites and just began pouring for the table. Once the table was done ordering, I had asked about sides in order to complete the order and whether we had enough food and provided guidance that ended up with the table with 8 orders of rice (2 per serving) for a table of 9. The waitress approached the guests and not the host when there were timing issues in the kitchen. Lastly, she was serving peking duck and began using her unwashed hands and touched the pancakes.
The food, the concept and the experience are great but the waitress clearly needs training. I realize this wasn't a 3-star Michelin restaurant but this was a steakhouse in the Financial District in New York City and she was barely serviceable in a TGI Fridays at a airport.
Venue is nicely decorated. In an area lacking steakhouses, it would benefit from sticking to that niche with a mid level price point instead of trying to incorporate Asian fusion. The name chophouse is a bit misleading. It’s hard to do Asian fusion well when you have Chinatown not far away. Service has some kinks to work out. Did not drink but the bar looks like a cute area to grab one.
I loved the relaxed feel of the restaurant. It was very comfortable dining. I would definitely return to try more dishes. All of dishes we tried were good - spring rolls, salad and french onion soup dumplings. Service was a little slow and the waitress was not that welcoming but the food was good and affordable.
En general bueno. La comida buena, pero un poco caro para la oferta gastronómica realmente.
Quick service great food, wonderful ambience.
Great service and good food.
My shrimp had so much breading by the time I got to the shrimp, they weren't really prawns, just extra large shrimp. Drinks were good. Our server, Sue, was good too.
The service was very slow and staff were disorganized. Food was alright. The dumplings are overrated. The concept of a steak house with Asian influence is poorly executed in terms of menu and incorporation of cuisine. Given the price, it is not particularly a good value.
I don't think I will visit again.
The waiting for the food and waitress to take our order was not good and should have been
The food was sooo good. The ambiance was just right. I really enjoyed it
Should try at least once. Beautiful space but uncomfortable seating, nowhere to put anything. I understand need to maximize space given Manhattan real estate prices, but at least have a coat check option in winter. The man at the station by the door was on the phone when we walked in and didn't bother to acknowledge us. He was busy reading things off the menu to whoever was on the phone. Another woman showed up after a minute and seated us. Since one of the selling points is dim sum and small plate options for sharing, tables are not especially geared for that. Two of us ordered 4 items and it barely fit on the table as it all came out at once. We cleared a plate to make more room. The bacon cheeseburger dumplings were on the salty side but juicy. The pac man dumplings were cute in presentation but uninspiring in flavor, basically a dressed up "har gow" (shrimp dumpling). The peking duck tacos were tasty. The rice was not "crispy" in the soft shell crab crispy rice but it was good. The apple wontons for dessert were delicious. Drinks are creative but no happy hour prices at the tables. Also, if you're seated near the larger tables, servers bring one of those folding trays when their food is brought out so you feel like you're hovering over somewhere else's food. Overall, the experience was enjoyable. Not sure it's a "must repeat" but would certainly go back if option arises.
Staff very friendly
The service was terrible. They gave us blank menues to start with. The waitress was very confused. Took our order asked weird questions. Brought everything out but in the wrong order. Food was good but becuace of the service I would not go back. The Bus staff was EXCELLENT.
We had an excellent time, celebrating my parents 70th birthday (Both).
Food was descent but I was a bit annoyed that we had to wait 30 mins for a table even though we had reservations. Our server was horrible, she only came by the table once to check in. I constantly had to look around to find some one to get us drinks . It was even a process just to get the proper utensils to eat our food
Excellent service and superior food. Clearly this management team knows their stuff. Fine addition to the neighborhood.
Great place, 3rd time coming here. Love the food, love the ambiance, love the staff.
Our waitress was very nice. She was a young, short haircut, blondish hair, caucasian female. I thought I heard someone call her Sam but I'm not sure. Her service was great. She was very accommodating and friendly. The food was also very good. I had the NY strip and my hubby had the ribeye and mayo shrimp appetizer. I also had the pac man wonton. Food was good. Nice staff. Would go again.
Food was great. Service needs some work. Overall pretty good.
Came here for our 24th wedding anniversary. Hosts were great except a big part of the restaurant was semi empty and they sat a large group literally right next to us. We even went early so it would be a little romantic. Service was just ok. The bus staff was on point and our water glasses never went empty, but our waitress never told us her name and was very inattentive. The wait staff was standing at the end of the dining area talking to each other. That and having the big group sat right next to us with plenty of space available is the only thing that brings the rating down. The food and drinks were unbelievable! I would eat here again just for the food. We had bacon cheeseburger dumplings, crispy vegetable rice for two, Kung Pao chicken and beef and broccoli. I can't even tell you what kind of beef it was because it melted in your mouth and I've never tasted anything like it before. Absolutely amazing! They even brought out a dessert for our anniversary. I would highly recommend! We will be back if they can get their service to match the food experience.
All the Dumplings are amazing, the martini's and specialty drinks are tasty
Food.......delicious.....mood, character, and atmosphere were delightful! Service was very gracious, kind, friendly and attentive. Our dining experience was just as lovely as was the meal!!
Good enough place. Food is good but the steak - which is supposed to be their signature dish - was too fatty and disappointing. Service was also below expectations - both during meal (wait was way too long) and at reception
My daughters birthday
Good food. Friendly service, but slightly slow. The restaurant seems pretentious. I like to eat good food and enjoy being out...cost is not an issue if I am enjoying the space.
We love BCH!! Spare ribs, excellent top quality! As all NYC restaurants the tables are tight but the staff makes it E-Z to navigate! The Staff is very professional and efficient. Our waiter Daniel took very good care of us! The bar area has very nice ambiance as well as a great Happy Hour! Dumplings are excellent! Crispy rice Yummy! Beef with noodles tasty and tender! Some things have a batter and are fried, which surprised us. The owner checked in with us and asked if we had any questions that’s always nice!
BCH is a great addition to the neighborhood!
Delicious steaks along with asian inspired dim sum dishes.
We’re local and started coming here vs Mr Chow - the vibe and scene has changed since it opened. We have dined here a few times and brought friends from out of town. An unfortunate scene occurred when my husband entered the men’s room this evening to a drug conversation. It definitely brought to consciousness that this wasn’t the place we thought it was going to be. It has degraded each visit and several events we thought might be appropriate to bring here have made us think differently. We will not be returning. Not our scene. We enjoy good food and an enjoyable environment - this establishment not longer embodies this for us.
Service was terrible, ruined the experience- poorly managed. Pricey considering the waitstaff is unprofessional and management more concerned about their phone screens than customers’ experience.
Had the best time! Service was excellant and the food was fabulous, especially that lobster satay! Delish
Great food great service fun on Beyonce. Cute bar scene really interesting dishes
Our table was in extremely busy location in the middle of a walkway... we asked for our seat to be changed they told us that table was booked for a big party, then 15 minutes later a party of 2 (same size as our party) was seated there. The food was good. The head waiter was dismissive. And it took long to be greeted initially and pretty much the flow was slow.
The drinks were ok. Oh and no parking just a parking lot only $25 tho. Would I come back? Probably not.
The food was simply divine. Especially the rum cake!
Appetizers were okay but no better than a corner Chinese take out. Entrees were lousy, especially the Drunkin Bronzino. Pieces of fish floating in a sweet, luke warm gelatin. Where did they get this chef? My co worker could not eat the Bass sandwich. She thought it was too oily. Very overpriced for this type of food. Even the presentation was weak for a place like this. Like a said, you can do much better at a local take out joint for a fraction of the price.
