Native Angeleno, Been meaning to check out this place for a few months now. I typically don’t enjoy high end Mexican restaurants in Los Angeles. They usually miss the mark in honoring the authenticity of the cuisine. Broken Spanish was perfectly on point. The menu had an experimental take on traditional recipes while reintroducing some obscure dishes. The ONLY mexican restaurant I’d recommend to anyone visiting my hometown.

This was our first outing for a special birthday since the beginning of the pandemic. We sat on the patio and had a lovely night. The food, service and attention to safety was impeccable. I look forward to returning the next time I’m in Los Angeles.

They made my 5 year anniversary with my beautiful girl amazing! The service was exceptional, the food was out of this world, and the ambiance was beautiful! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

We went for my husband’s birthday, and we were on time for our reservation for 4 however they were not. We waiting maybe 15 minutes. It was very busy and loud.
Staff was friendly.

We sat in the back dining room and it was so loud I really felt like I was in a mess hall or something.
The acoustics are just very bad there. I think it’s on purpose though. It’s the architecture.

It was a busy night (Saturday) so the service was a bit slow. But not intolerable.

Food was good, most of what we ordered was very spicy, the chicken necks with the hot sauce were too much for me.
The queso was good, and so were the tortillas. The lamb neck was very good. Melt In Your mouth fall off the bone. Would Rex one day that dish!
then we ordered the whole snapper and it was very delicious. A really light fresh flavor to balance out all the spicy/ heavier stuff we I had before .
Desserts were good. We ordered a few to share.
Cocktails were also good.
We enjoyed it but I’m not dying to go back.
I would however recommend it.

Turns the traditional notion of Mexican food on its head. Filtered through a second generation Mexican-American chef with classic French and European technique but still true to the roots of his food.

So many delicious things on the menu hard to pick one. Was lucky enough to get the Chateaubriand special. Highly recommended!

Excellent food. Loved the margaritas, refríed lentils & also cheese that came with tortillas. The masa soup was also excellent. At first we had some trouble deciding what dishes to select so that things would pair well together but our server (Liam) pointed us in the right direction. He was very attentive & helpful.

Very trendy, over priced, way to loud,
Soup served cold not hot, taco was cold , sent it back then it was hot, they sent over a special dish from the chief to say sorry.Which was appreciated
I will not go back but I would go across the street to El Cholo for RESL Mexican food.

Food was great, the tostada was the star dish. We didn't order from the large entrees though.
Unfortunately we were seated in the back room on a night when there was a huge party going to the hockey game and the sound was deafening. They very nicely accommodated us and moved us to another table. Overall a very nice nite out.

The restuarant has gone downhill. The food is good not great and on top of it the servings are miniscule. You are paying $48 for a piece of short rib that measures 2"X2" sitting in a bowl of beans. The $18 octopus appetizer had 5 cut up pieces of octopus with a bunch of garbanzo beans which could be bought at Trader Joes for .98 cents.
Any self respecting abuelita would be embarrassed to serve such meager portions. The service was absent for the most part as well.

Convenient to the Staples Center, Broken Spanish is a beautiful restaurant! The menu was very unique. The food was very good. However, it was extremely spicy. Even my drink had a kick! If you are not a spice fan, this might not be a good choice.

This was highly recommended to us, but we didn’t love the current menu. We ordered 3 small plates and a salad, the simple salad was the best dish we had. The Brussels were undercooked, the meatballs were ok, the potatoes just average. We would have ordered more if we liked what we tried. The service and drinks were good. I would try it again, but won’t rush back. Apparently the men’s bathroom was a huge dirty mess too, which is not ideal.

Dishes were hit or miss with too few hits. Really liked 2/5 dishes that we ordered and that didn't include the main dish.

Service was spotty: the waiter only filled our water glasses once and took too long to take our orders compared to other guests seated around us. Also, with the limited space on the table we were always making room for other dishes because the empty ones weren't being cleared.

For the premium charged,the mediocre service received, and the underwhelming food, I would not return or recommend to anyone.

4.5 stars! At first, the hostess gave us a table in the back room. Frankly, this place is too expensive to not sit in the main room. And it's a bit annoying that they always try to give away the less desireable tables, it should be the other way around. Anyway, we got another table. The food is excellent. Service was very good. A bit over-priced. It's tapas, so the portions are relatively small.

Very overpriced for small portions and average tasting food and drinks. The chile rellwno was nice but the tiny tostada was NOT worth $16/each. The brussel sprouts came out at the end of our meal (which I thought was weird) and I absolutely disliked them. I would not return.
