Authentic, delicious, service was outstanding. Highly recommend.
Super cute and trendy establishment. The food was delish but wasn’t all delivered at the same time. Which wasn’t really a big deal for us. I would recommend and visit again
This is the first time we tried this restaurant. It was perfect for a light dinner. We shared the 12 taco selection amongst the 4 of us so we each had a choice of 3 tacos. We also had drinks. The food was good and the drinks were more than adequate. Our server was very attentive. The final bill was about $30 for each of us, so very reasonable for the Wells street area.
Thanks so much for your great review! We are glad to hear you had a great time and hope to have you back soon for more tacos and margs!
Great tasting tocos and street corn
Thanks for your great review! Hope to see you back soon for some more tacos & Elotes!
Food was delicious . Great , fun place to go with a group ….. not so much a date night kinda place . I’d definitely go back !
Marixza, Thank you so much for your great review! We love to hear you had a great time and definitely aim to please whether it be a group or a date! We have had the pleasure to hear from some guests who had their first date at this broken English and are still going strong, most recently we had an engagement photoshoot in our bar & back patio as that was were they had their first date. Love is in the air <3 Hope to have you back soon for some tacos & margs!
Drinks were very week.
Chicken tacos were EXTREMELY salty.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your honest feedback, we hope to have you back to give us a second chance! Definitely think you would enjoy our Fried Chicken tacos & our margaritas which have about .75oz of liquor more than other bars!
Amazing food, great vibes, strong drinks and good service!
My date pooped
Thank you for your great review!
Great cocktails, our server was sweet and attentive and the food was perfectlly balanced would definitely come back soon
Thanks for your great review!
Not the best tacos I’ve ever had. The ambiance was cool but not worth the prices of the food
Chairs were not wiped down after it rained and we had to wipe our chairs and table a d waitress didn’t check in enough ; second round of drinks was a long wait; we liked the decor inside and food was good except for the cauliflower tacos ( basically tasted like cauliflower in marinara sauce but they did help replace it with carnitas taco); overall wait staff was slow and just OK.
Dirty sticky table. Ok drinks. Ok food. Bar flies. Dirty bathrooms.
Great experience, but those Old Town prices are no joke — $110 for 4 tacos, an app, and 4 drinks.
great place. gets really loud
Cute place, friendly servers. Food was just ok, drinks were meh. I’ve had much better Mexican and honestly was disappointed. Chose this for lunch as we were nearby for Immersive Van Gogh.
The food was amazing, we got chips and guacamole to start. The server was very attentive and the tacos were so good!! I would recommend getting the deal of 6 tacos for $22 so you can try different kinds!
Great service and food!
The food and service were great! My only complaint is the extra $3 I paid for strawberry purée in my Sprite.
Great restaurant and vibes! Super friendly staff.
Service, food , & margaritas where all great. Make sure to try the mezcal margaritas (so good).
Not very many options, the carne asada meat tasted like it was dipped in some kind of sweet sauce. The queso had goat cheese in it which left a gritty after taste. I won’t be returning
Great place, great decor, atmosphere, and food. Highly recommended.
Four of us girls came here to celebrate our friends birthday! The taco tray was a hit because everyone got to mix and match which tacos they liked for a really nice price! The pitcher margaritas are also perfect for a group of 4-5! Will definitely come back!
Carly! Thank you for your great review, we hope to have you back soon for some more tacos and margaritas!
Server was rude. Food was fantastic! Overall, I would go back.
Our server probably was overwhelmed but we didn’t get serve properly. The food wasn’t so great. But I would recommend the chicken tacos
Great food. A bit pricey for what you get but overall we always really enjoy our experience here! Fun for a night out. Cool atmosphere.
Due to COVID we had booked two tables each for 4. Two members or our party were unable to come and the reservation was easy to update to one table for 6. We arrived early and out table was ready.
This was my first time at Broken English and I will be back! Food and drinks were great! Love the sampler pack! Allowed us to try a few different types of tacos and they were all so yummy!
Amazing carne asada tacos
Nice date spot
Had a lot of fun, great ambiance!
Great place for a quick/early dinner in Old Town. We enjoyed our tacos and margs before a night out
Great food, awesome service. Loved the painting and lights - such a fun place for a date or night out
Thank you for your great review!
Thanya was great! Quick service and her recommendations were great!
Thank you for your great review!
This is three for three for Broken English Taco Pub. I hit the one on Lake Street in downtown Chicago, the one in Lincoln Park and now this one. This location has the same funky décor and great music playlists. Interesting each location, while colorful in style, has it's own personality.
The Queen, my BFF and I had a nosh here before going to that fabulous Immersive Van Gogh show since it was in the neighborhood. Because it was Taco Thursday, yes you heard me, the tacos were only $2 each except for the shrimp, cod and fried chicken. The shrimp taco I had from the Lincoln Park location was delish, but $2 carnitas and brisket worked for me. Again, the quality of the tacos were just as good as the other two locations. We also got the nachos platter here as well and that was a mistake. It is very good, but filling and interfered with the ability to eat more $2 tacos.
Because it was Thursday, we decided to get margaritas...classic for me and a mango one for my BFF. The Queen got the sangria. The margarita was good and so strong but in a good way! My BFF liked the mango frozen margarita but it looked small to me, but she loved it. The Queen finished her sangria and was sucking the bottom of the glass with her straw.
This location has a very cool patio area that I most definitely want to visit again to just sit out there and eat tacos until I burst. It was enclosed that night but the host explained that in warmer weather the panels on the roof retract to allow for fresh air to get in.
Service was good as our server kept coming back to check on us to see if we needed anything. She explained up front that they prefer one check per table and that was cool to know. Not that we split checks, but feel it is good to know to avoid issues.
Would definitely come back on Taco Thursday to feast on tacos and drink those strong margaritas.
Thank you for your great review!
They let us reserve a seating at 9:15pm and made no mention that they would be shut down with cleaning crews out by 10pm. Most bars/restaurants in Old Town are open later, but regardless you would think we would at least get a warning.
We ordered a $110 pitcher of margaritas that didn’t come out to us until 9:45. We asked for it to be spicy (mild) and later realized they charged us $20 extra to make our pitcher margarita spicy.
Our waitress was incredibly opaque and didn’t let us know about the 10pm closing (we learned of this when she brought us our bill while the restaurant simultaneously turned on the lights, turned off the music, and brought out the cleaning crew), or the fact that the four of us would have only 15 minutes to chug practically a litre of margaritas. When we asked her what happened, she simply laughed and said we should’ve checked the website closer.
We asked our waitress to at bare minimum remove the $20 spicy charge from the margaritas since we wouldn’t have ordered them spicy otherwise, but again she just laughed and said we should’ve checked the menu closer. We asked if we could get the rest of the margaritas to-go and she said the best she could do was bring us a paper box to pour it in.
Overall, we left with an incredibly bad taste in our mouth after trying to chug overpriced margaritas with no atmosphere and some cleaning crew member scrubbing down our table. Absolutely awful experience and a disappointing level of customer service to say the least.
We will never be back to Broken English and we will recommend our family and friends to plenty of other respectable establishments in the future.
We sincerely apologize for the experience you had & thank you for bringing this to our attention. We do close a little earlier than some places in old town but always let people finish their drinks before we turn the lights up. We don't have a cleaning crew at night so if you can please send me an email email@example.com o m with a little bit more about your experience so I can try to find out what happened at your visit I would appreciate it. We would love to have a 2nd chance from you! Thanks
Great food and service. They are practicing social distancing and have safety precautions in place. Great date night restaurant.
