The Broadway Oyster Bar is a locally owned and operated establishment and has been for over 35 years. The Oyster Bar is widely regarded as the premier New Orleans' style restaurant, bar and music venue in the Midwest. BOB, as it is affectionately known by its many fans and friends, is housed in a building that was built in the mid 1840's and is one of the oldest buildings still in daily use within the city of St. Louis. During its colorful history, our building has had many functions including a family home, a boarding house, a Chinese laundry, a record store and a bordello to name a few. These walls have heard and seen it all. Some people feel that the building is haunted by spirits who, occasionally late at night, play good hearted jokes on the staff such as doors suddenly opening or closing or lights going on or off as if by magic. Then again, it just could be because the building is over 170 years old. However, our historic building has just gone through a renovation so we now have two outdoor patios that are covered and heated during cold or rainy weather and an expanded kitchen to better serve you. Our food has won numerous awards and readers' polls for excellence and features some of the most sustainable seafood available such as fresh Gulf and Blue Point oysters, Louisiana crawfish and shrimp, Prince Edward Island mussels, scallops and crabs. Our Cajun and Creole dishes are our versions of many of the traditional Louisiana favorites. If you love New Orleans, you will feel right at home at BOB. BOB offers live music twice a day every night of the week except on Friday when we feature one act for the evening. We present the best local and national touring acts representing a variety of musical genres such as rock, reggae, bluegrass, blues, funk, R&B, roots, and jam, and weshowcase a wide variety of bands visiting from New Orleans. The live music is free up to 8 times per a week. However, for some of the more popular and well known acts, we do charge a cover which typically goes to the bands in order to keep attracting them to the BOB. Broadway Oyster Bar has been referred to by many as a staple of St. Louis and was recently honored by the St. Louis Chapter of the Missouri Restaurant Association as the 2015 Restaurant of the Year. BOB is a great choice for a relaxing dinner, a celebratory party or an opportunity to dance to a great band. As well known food writer, the late Joe Pollack, once wrote, "There is, quite simply, nothing in St. Louis quite like the Broadway Oyster Bar".     The food and drinks were okay. The service was very slow. We waiting 30 minutes for our check alone. Our reservation was at 7. We spent over $300. We would’ve stayed longer but at 8:45 they came around to tell us that if we wanted to stay we’d have to pay a $12 cover charge per person. It was strange since we had been there for so long and annoying drinks with friends. I don’t know if we will go back.

    Our waitress was great, food was good, there wasn’t anything bad except the hostess. There is no way to put a child on the reservation. We reserved for 4 adults. Then she asked me if I was planning on holding the baby the whole time… then asked another host to handle the guests while she “sorted out this mess.” Next time we will just reserve for 5, but the host was rude.

    Our waiter started out a little rough, he seemed to forget about us after we sat down initially. But once our order was taken by another waiter, our actual waiter came around frequently to check on us. So overall service was alright if a little disjointed to start.

    We came here 8 years before we had kids. Tonight was a night without the kids. We had a great time. The food was amazing and the band was awesome. The Crawfish dip was super yummy and the gulf oysters were great. The server told us that they get the oysters and the bread for the Po Boys from NOLA to be very authentic. As with most creole food, the spice did not disappoint!!

    Very disappointed with no parking, it was blocked off. Directed next door paid full amount. Wife was dissatisfied with the food. Her taco was soggy. Waiteress gave he another dry one. We were sat near the kitchen which was noisy and lots of traffic. The medley was a mere 4 spoonfuls- thought it was a meal.

    We love the BOB - the food is consistent, genuinely Cajun and something that is hard to find in St. Louis. Our server was friendly, helpful and answered all of our questions. We regretted that we could not stay for the Jimmy Buffet music later that night! We recommend the BOB to everyone and bring people there when we have guests in from out of town. Just a great evening.

    The service was great and everyone was working very hard with it being so busy . The menu seemed very limited and the food just wasn’t that good , especially for the amount we spent on it . Not sure what changed when we were last there in 2019. We would definitely come back for drinks though!

    Food was good but not for the money I paid. Service was mediocre at best it was busy so I will cut some slack however had to ask for things a server should automatically bring like silverware, my drink, and crackers for oysters. I would go back and give it another try.

    We actually dined here 2 nights, ordering Blue Crab Cakes, Nola bbq shrimp, Blackened Ahi Tuna Fajitas, Blue Point Oysters, Oyster Medley, the Sampler Platter, Crawfish Enchiladas. All were delicious and perfectly prepared. The staff were all friendly, enthusiastic, and accommodating. Highly recommend!

    An oyster dish and crawfish etoufe were our choices. Food was terrific and the shabby surroundings were a perfect Nola vibe. The country trio performing for part of our meal added to the atmosphere. Servers were friendly and assured us we had made great choices. Bread pudding was an enormous and wonderful topper. If you choose it, choose to share.

    One of my favorite places to go in St. Louis. Food is always good and the vibe is nice. there was a large crowd due to the Beyonce concert, but the wait staff still provided good service.

    Easy to make reservation, good service, and excellent food. My only complaint would be the amount of noise the restaurant is surrounded by (Cardinals home game that evening) but that's not the fault of the Broadway Oyster Bar- avoid game nights and you can save on the parking, too.
