It's a cool spot and the food is excellent. Can get a little pricey with apps and drinks, but you certainly get what you pay for.
Recommend to a local friend only because of convenience. We would give up on the place if we didn't live within walking distance. They MUST work on service. We had to send several people in search of a glass of wine for both our first glass and our second. When you arrive there on a Friday night after work, you want to order a drink and be served quickly.
Service was lacking. Apparently they were short-staffed and really struggled. When we finished our meal and our plates were cleared, we then waited 30 minutes to see our waiter again. She never stopped by. We only saw her again when I stopped a busboy and asked for our bill. She then came and offered us a dessert for our wait, but we had literally sat there for 30 minutes and were fed up.
The food and service were excellent. The broccoli appetizer is amazing and the Monday special (chicken and biscuits) was delicious. It was a very pleasant evening.
brunch: tasty, generous portions, fairly priced, leisurely
Went for Valentines Day. Could not have enjoyed it any more than we did. Fantastic ambiance with service and food only adding to the excellent evening. Thanks to everyone on staff from front of the house to back of house who made the evening happen.
Rough night for the staff
A pleasant evening!
Excellent food, drink, service and atmosphere! Can’t wait to go back!
Great food and superb service by the team. Glasses alway filled and food was out quickly. The cheese plate for the appetizer was plentiful, requiring us to bring home some leftovers which were appreciated the next day.
Service was much improved from our last visit. Food was as great as ever.
This was my first time there for lunch. We had the mushroom soup, hummus platter, and simple soup and sandwich. Soth soups were delicious and hearty. The hummus platter could have served 4 and tasted homemade. The turkey club and side salad were also delicious. We washed it down with a memorable hibiscus tea to warm us against the weather. Sitting just adjacent to the fireplace it could not have been any better.
People very friendly and excellent service. Food very well done.
Good food and service. Was a little noisy on a Sat. night.
Very good service. Food delivered hot. Nice breakfast menu.
It is a beautiful atmosphere. Modern and casually elegant. The service was great, food was fresh and delicious. Portions were plentiful. I will definitely go back again.
This place is convenient if you're doing anything in Swarthmore, but I'd avoid it. The restaurant (a few tables next to the bar) is incredibly noisy, and the food and drinks are average at best. The wine pours are about 4 ounces, for which they charge $12 or $14. Ridiculous! And the menu can best be described as elevated bar food. But by far it is the noise when the place is full that makes it absolutely obnoxious.
Average menu. Service was slow, albeit, most of the people were at the bar. My wine was 10$ for a 1/4 filled glass-rip off!
My friend hadn't eaten here yet, so she was glad to find out about it. I've never been disappointed in the food here, though I am very sorry the octopus salad is no longer on the menu. (Even if I felt kind of bad about eating something so intelligent.)
Excellent, innovative food choices. Freshly prepared and top notch ingredients.
It was nice as a local place. Probably great for Swarthmore parents and locals. Wouldn’t call it a destination. But pleasant.
Very good lunch after several unsatisfying meals on the past. Looks like they are finally getting their act together
The restaurant itself is quite attractive with a modern feel and an open floor plan. The bar, fireplace, and tables all flow together. The restaurant is centrally located in the Inn at Swarthmore — a very nice addition to the Ville. There is plenty of parking in the rear of the Inn.
Alas, the menu was limited, the wine list pricey, as were the wines by the glass. I’m not sure what the management’s strategy is on that front. Fortunately, there is a good selection of beers on tap, as well as cider.
The noise level was off the charts for at least half of our time in the tavern. A party of fifteen or twenty people in the center high table managed to drown out attempts at conversation nearby.
As to the food, well, it was OK at best but not memorable. The wait staff was warm and professional, as was the receptionist.
The Broad Table Tavern should be a winner but it hasn’t succeeded. The operator has had abundant time to fine tune this place. They must try harder.
Service wasn’t great. Half the food was good, the other half was meh. The dinner menu didn’t have the lamb sliders on it so I didn’t know that I could order them until after I had ordered my food (I would have liked to have tried them). Not sure if I’ll be back.
To start, our server Dana was awesome. She made us feel so welcome and provided a couple food selections off the menu. A few of us had the French Toast breakfast and others had the Route 66 breakfast. Everything was delicious and Dana did not rush us. I know we will all be back. The atmosphere was lovely.
Highly recommend going for their brunch. Thank you.
This is a great local spot for a meal, or a meeting over coffee. A nice addition to the town!
Really nice, and a great addition for the Swarthmore and Delaware County dining scene. Great service too - attentive while not being overwhelming. We'll be back.
Wish the working people would be a little more enthusiastic about their job!
Great drinks and fish entrees
Way too noisy!
Nice looking place, warm service; too bad the food was disappointing. Had fish tacos made with salmon, which was incredibly overcooked and dry.
We’ve been there several times for lunch. Always good food and service. Nice atmosphere.
Fabulous, great service and food( not your every day fare) with a relaxed atmosphere.
We had a bunch of starters to share and everyone agreed they were very good. The only disappointment on the menu was a noodle dish that was a bit like ramen.
This restaurant has a beautiful setting with lovely seating arrangements. The food is adequate and the menu interesting. On our most recent visit this Thanksgiving am, the restaurant was not crowded and we waited quite some time for sandwiches and an equally long time for a simple piece of pie for dessert. Also on the two occasions when we went for a breakfast/brunch on a holiday, this past Thanksgiving and last Christmas we were told there was only a holiday chef's menu available and we could not order anything else. This year when we asked the waiter to make a request to the chef to alter his plan and allow us to order from the menu, he acquiesced. Last year he did not and we were not even permitted to sit in the main dining area for a cup of coffee, we were asked to have our coffee in the lobby! Keep in mind on both occasions I made reservations and was not informed of this policy. After last year's fiasco we were gracious enough to give your establishment another go mainly because it is such a lovely setting and within walking distance, and it was ironic that the same thing happened to us for the second time, but with slightly better results this year. I think it is important for your chef to understand, NO ONE wants a chef's menu. Consumers want to go to a restaurant and order how much or how little they would like and from an entire selection. I would suggest conducting some type of market research to validate this point before you offer any of your special menu "only" option again.
Dr. Eloise Boccella
Great ambiance. Farm to table food. Scallops were outstanding.
Close to home. Average food. Great waitress. I have nothing else to say.
Lovely, high end restaurant with locally sourced ingredients, in the heart of Swarthmore.
Went for dinner on a Sunday evening and everything was just delicious! We were warmly greeted by the hostess. We tucked into a cozy booth and John took care of us very nicely. I had the chef's preparation of Mediterranean sea bass over root vegetables and it was outstanding. My husband always gets his martini well prepared at Broad Table...not sure who was bartending, but he hasn't had a complaint anytime we've been either at the bar, or eating at a table. My husband had the basic burger, which was just fine, good fries!
Great food but the staff seemed a bit off their game. We've been before a couple of times without the same problems, so hopefully it was a one-off.
