Our dinner at Brix was delicious. Everything was just right. The service was extremely attentive and we really enjoyed ourselves. The staff told us that things are still slow post-fire, so we want all of you to go up to the Wine Country and support our local establishments!
All things change, but not always for the better. We were last here 2 years ago and I left a great review. Brix has taken on more of a pub atmosphere with seating not as comfortable as before. Menu is more limited and prices are higher - not surprised on pricing, but atmosphere and quality of food and service has declined. Drink was made wrong to start. Other tables were getting bread but we had to ask twice before we received any. Operation just seemed rough from what it had been. Chilly evening, but people coming and going from patio resulted in many door openings and bursts of cold air - would have been worse had we not requested a different table for that reason alone. Food ok, but not great.
It took a very long time to get our food. We were a party of four that all ordered entrees, no starters. When our entree’s finally started to be delivered, 3 were brought and the last one took several more minutes to arrive. One would expect better service at a fine dining establishment.
We’ve been dining at Brix for nearly 20 years. have had many memorable family dinners, the restaurant and view sare always spectacular. Tonights experience was very disappointing. They sat us at the table next to the kitchen when the restaurant was mostly empty. We asked to be moved and then somehow we were abandoned and had to flag down a waitress to get an order started. Our waitress was excellent though, but the food this nite was our chief complaint. My Parmison roasted garlic soup was entirely too rich, so rich in fact I couldn’t finish the bowl. The calamari appetizer was good, as were the salads. Next was the entrées… My wife’s short rib had about three bites of tender meat, then the remaining 80% or more was a all grizzle! We sent it back and they removed from our bill. My daughter and I ordered the Porkchop which was very good quality, but extremely rare. I was surprised they would send it out of the kitchen when it was still translucent and pink in the middle. Staff was very accommodating of all of our issues and sent out a complimentary dessert to make amends.
Normally I would let a poor experience go if it happens once, but this is the second time service has been very sub-par and turning food over in the kitchen extremely slow.
Additionally, their special of the day, a grilled pork chop, came out under done. Being that it was sliced for presentation, the undercooked chop should have been spotted and corrected before being served.
15 minutes plus without asking about drinks or cocktails, it was the floor manager who actually took notice of the large time gap and took our drink and food order. As far as the undercooked food incident, not even an apology...
It was an early Sunday dinner and not busy, there was staffing there to cover the number of diners... Crossing this restaurant off the list, a shame with the beautiful grounds and views there.
The facility didn’t live up to our expectations of a restaurant that puts itself out to be the of the caliber that is portrayed on the web. Ladies room was an absolutely terrible. Was very messy, dirty and unclean. My chair seat springs were gone which left me sitting in a hole. It was replaced after I pointed it out. The whole restaurant looked well used and worn. It’s time for the owners to update the facility.
Attended going-away party. My first time but not my last. We sat outside with views of vineyards and their gardens. Only minor issue was a wedding on the property that was finishing.
Had flatiron steak with mushroom risotto others had Ribs. I brought a 2001 Chateauneuf-du-Pape which perfectly with steak and mushrooms.
My husband and I dined at Brix with another couple on the last night of our vacation in northern California. The atmosphere and food did not disappoint. We enjoyed every bite from appetizers to dessert. The service was beyond what we expected. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgable and had a great sense of when to come and go. Even the young man clearing our plates was engaging offering his explanations of the dessert menu. Would definitely go back.
My wife and I live in NJ and went to Napa for our anniversary. We chose Brix based on the reviews we saw and the pictures online. The food portions were small and not worth the money we paid. If there is one thing I cannot stand about a restauran experience it’s when you are ready for your check and you are held hostage by poor service. It took 30 mins for the server to collect empty plates, drop a check and return to process payment. Very disappointing
We were in the Napa Valley for 4 nights of dinners, and our evening at Brix was our favorite. We sat outside on the beautiful patio looking out at the garden area, vineyards and mountains in the background. The patio area is elegant and the ambiance sublime! The tempura green beans appetizer was unique and delicious, as was the wild mushroom side dish.
Absolutely beautiful scenery. We sat outside and the sewer gas smell was so horrible, we were asked to be moved inside. Once inside, we were forgotten. Our waitress only came back once and that was after we waited 10 minutes for utensils from the time our main course arrived.
This was the only restaurant we could get into in the Napa/Yountville area and was pretty empty at 12:30 when we got there, which should have given us a clue. Staff were friendly but lacked knowledge about the menu. My "breaded cod" was the worse I've ever tasted - it should have been labeled fried bread with a hint of cod - very little fish, a ton of batter that was so greasy that it oozed out when you pressed on it with your fork. I should have sent it back but didn't want to make a fuss in front of friends we had deliberately brought to this restauarant. Ratatouille was good but it was the only thing that was
We were seated outdoors and had a spectacular view of the sunset for our evening! We were celebrating our honeymoon there after some friends recommended it to us for a romantic dinner option! Food was exceptionally good, we both had the lamb chops, medium rare, and thought that their roasted mushrooms side dish was out of this world. Service was the only thing slightly lacking from our experience. While our waitress was very accommodating, the restaurant "oversat" her and she was not able to tend to us properly. We completely finished appetizers, drinks and table bread and had been sitting quietly for another 10 minutes before having an opportunity to put in our entre orders. Then halfway through the main course the red wine we ordered showed up...too late to properly enjoy it with the food. I still highly recommend Brix as the grounds and the view were breathtaking, and the food was mouthwateringly delicious!
We made a reservation for the patio at 7 and were told we would have to wait 30-45 minutes for a table. What is the point of a reservation? We were then seated inside.
The servers need training for a restaurant of this price point. The wine list was incredibly overpriced, only a few options under $100 a bottle. The menu was small and again over priced for an a la cart selection. Servers were not able to provide side paring recommendations and the fish was undercooked.
Too much hype and poor service paired with mediocre food.
Whether seated inside or outside, the view of the vegetable gardens and the grapevines is so beautiful and serene. Then you can walk out there and see and smell the herbs, sneak a taste of the luscious cherry tomatoes, and sit amongst all that bounty, knowing it was picked fresh for your lunch today.

One member of our party said that Brix Sunday Brunch is the best she's ever tasted. A lively place in a beautiful setting. The first-time visitors and the members of our group already familiar with Napa were impressed by the setting, food and attentive service. The layout and staff keep things moving smoothly so it doesn't feel crowded even when busy.
If we could move the noise level down just a notch it would be ideal. Initially, I felt some sticker shock at the brunch cost, but when compared with other Napa restaurants and the needs of our group, it all was more than worth the price.
We had lunch on a Tuesday with a party of 5. The weather was unseasonable hot, but we decided to sit outside, as there was a beautiful view on the rear, covered patio and it seemed to be the sought after place to have lunch, based upon the listing. We were surprised that the patio did not have any ceiling fans or insect lights. Even in the shade, it was very hot and muggy and there were lots of flies.
The server was capable and friendly, but the service was very slow. The server informed us that she was assigned 5 tables and she was only one person.
The food flavors and presentation were excellent.
Best shrimp scampi ever!! If I order it again on another occasion, I would ask for the pasta on the side as the chef was too generous with the sauce. It is an age issue for me!
Our server Hoelle (Noelle?) was gracious and allowed us all the time we asked for but was on top of everything. The food was outstanding, the setting was heavenly, and, if I didn’t have to drive up from SF, I would treat myself more often.
