Brix Ratings and Reviews
Honestly, there was nothing wrong with Brix but the only special thing was the beauty of the patio. My husband had the burger and Parmesan fries-$19. Absolutely could have gotten that burger at any hotel restaurant in the world. I got the mushroom flatbread as I had read that they had a wood fired oven. Frankly, the crust was bland and a little limp.
The bright side of the experience were the server and buser who were lovely and attentive. Also was a super convenient location with a big parking lot.
There are many outstanding choices in the Napa Valley. Pick this one for the location and the convenience.
We have been to Brix for dinner with friends on a summer Saturday night, and enjoyed the ambiance and lively atmosphere. It was quite different on a winter Wednesday night with another couple, with the restaurant very empty and quiet, for my husband's birthday dinner. It was just as pleasant - I recommend the hangar steak (pronounced best ever) and beautiful salads. Service was also great - it would have been nice if they had sung happy birthday or comp'd us a dessert, but nevertheless, we completely enjoyed being able to have a long, undisturbed, quiet dinner. And no corkage for Napa locals is super nice! We recommend Brix.
Fied chicken sandwich was thigh meat we prefer breast meat in fried sandwiches. My french dip was small and not remarkable, I substituted a green salad for the fries. Salad was lettuce with a small amount of dressing, nothing else. Prior meals at Brix were good, we were disappointed this time.
Great food and service, HOWEVER with an empty dining area we were placed in a distant corner that looked into the kitchen and could hear all the clanging pots and pans. We expected more guests. No one else was seated in that corner the entire evening. No excuse for such seating on an evening like that! An unhappy dinner. The background music was too loud and suited for teens. We had to ask that it be turned down...twice. The great food could not overcome the mindless seating arrangement and the noise level. Probably will not return!
Was seated 30 min after our reservations for our party of 6. Was told by our hostess table was available at our reservation time only OUTSIDE - it was 47 degrees outside! Hostess attitude was defensive and not helpful. Left a bad taste for NYE brunch . Waiter was great.
Amazing service with really friendly staff. No one was annoyed by the 3 children we brought in and Brix has a good kids menu and small creative art to keep kids busy. The drinks were unique & delicious and the food was top notch. Everyone was happy with their order and some of us got recommendations from the knowledgeable server. The grounds are amazing to hang out in afterwards. This is always one of our fave stops when in Wine country. Thank you Brix!!
Five of us went to Brix for Christmas dinner. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the service the most. It would have been nice to see something special on the menu, like their beef brisket (Or even turkey...) since we aren't into sea food or duck, and the prime rib is always too pink for us. We had the risotto. It had good flavor, but I wanted meat.
The salad needed dressing drizzled on it.
Desert: the chocolate cheese cake & the egg nog creme brulee were good. The "pudding" was actually bread pudding... just ok, not moist enough for a bread pudding. But the pear slices helped it go down.
After dinner, we ordered 3 cappuccinos. We asked for mocha, but it came regular. When we asked for a bit of chocolate to add to it, we were turned down by our waitress. So I went to the bar, and the bartender got us some chocolate shavings. It made it so much better.
We arrived hungry with high expectations based on the reviews we read. However, If you suffer from hypertension related to salt stay away..
Everything we tasted was over salted including the Cheese Cake.. Generally restaurants over salt food to hide poor quality ingredients or poor preparation.
Prime Rib was actually gray served below room temperature, dry, overcooked. Duck Breast with lentils was almost inedible. We let them know after our table nearly fell over and a water glass broke all over everything...they took $39.95 off of the bill which was still $149.00 for Christmas Dinner. Wait staff tried to fix the table and found multiple dirty napkins etc. stuffed under table stand apparently previous attempts to stabilize this table had all failed. Actually felt sorry for the wait staff having to bring such poorly prepared over salted food to our unstable table. They were actually apologetic and tried their best. No restaurant in Cape Town South Africa would serve such poor quality food. They would go broke!! No pictures posted the food was not pretty.
Attended for Christmas dinner specials. My wife and I first went for the Old Fashioned and it was incredible! Handcrafted and delicious. Then we each had our own three course meal. My main entree. Herb Crusted Prime Rib was astounding. By far the best meal my wife and I had on our trip to Napa Valley. Would definitely go again and recommend to everyone!
Our dinner at Brix was delicious. Everything was just right. The service was extremely attentive and we really enjoyed ourselves. The staff told us that things are still slow post-fire, so we want all of you to go up to the Wine Country and support our local establishments!
All things change, but not always for the better. We were last here 2 years ago and I left a great review. Brix has taken on more of a pub atmosphere with seating not as comfortable as before. Menu is more limited and prices are higher - not surprised on pricing, but atmosphere and quality of food and service has declined. Drink was made wrong to start. Other tables were getting bread but we had to ask twice before we received any. Operation just seemed rough from what it had been. Chilly evening, but people coming and going from patio resulted in many door openings and bursts of cold air - would have been worse had we not requested a different table for that reason alone. Food ok, but not great.
It took a very long time to get our food. We were a party of four that all ordered entrees, no starters. When our entree’s finally started to be delivered, 3 were brought and the last one took several more minutes to arrive. One would expect better service at a fine dining establishment.
We’ve been dining at Brix for nearly 20 years. have had many memorable family dinners, the restaurant and view sare always spectacular. Tonights experience was very disappointing. They sat us at the table next to the kitchen when the restaurant was mostly empty. We asked to be moved and then somehow we were abandoned and had to flag down a waitress to get an order started. Our waitress was excellent though, but the food this nite was our chief complaint. My Parmison roasted garlic soup was entirely too rich, so rich in fact I couldn’t finish the bowl. The calamari appetizer was good, as were the salads. Next was the entrées… My wife’s short rib had about three bites of tender meat, then the remaining 80% or more was a all grizzle! We sent it back and they removed from our bill. My daughter and I ordered the Porkchop which was very good quality, but extremely rare. I was surprised they would send it out of the kitchen when it was still translucent and pink in the middle. Staff was very accommodating of all of our issues and sent out a complimentary dessert to make amends.
Normally I would let a poor experience go if it happens once, but this is the second time service has been very sub-par and turning food over in the kitchen extremely slow.
Additionally, their special of the day, a grilled pork chop, came out under done. Being that it was sliced for presentation, the undercooked chop should have been spotted and corrected before being served.
15 minutes plus without asking about drinks or cocktails, it was the floor manager who actually took notice of the large time gap and took our drink and food order. As far as the undercooked food incident, not even an apology...
It was an early Sunday dinner and not busy, there was staffing there to cover the number of diners... Crossing this restaurant off the list, a shame with the beautiful grounds and views there.
