Restaurant said there was a “glitch open table shouldn’t have booked reservations”. I was told someone from open table was suppose to cancel with me. Horrible. It is Mother’s Day! We were lucky to find another local place to seat us. Turned out to be a blessing as we had an amazing meal someplace else. Aside from the mistake - no one really cared to help! The manager (I assume) literally said “I cancelled 18 people. I don’t know what to tell you”. No apology, no urgency to help. Will not return and open table should remove this place as they do not honor reservations made on the site.
Brenda our waitress was excellent
Restaurant noisy could use some sound baffles
My wife’s short ribs were salty understand they are cooking all day which lead to this
Great food and a fantastic atmosphere.
Everyone in our group enjoyed their dinner.
The restaurant was quick and good with seating us. Once we sat down our waitress was nice. However, we waited over an hour for our food and by the time we got it, some parts were cold as if just warmed up. We were in the restaurant for over 2 hours and maybe a handful of times were we checked on. Then the music would go super loud and then it would be really low. Just a very unpleasant experience.
If I said the service was horrible, it would be greatly understated! The waitress took our water and we never saw her again. Somebody else brought out our food. And we have an asked to see her to get the check we would’ve definitely had dessert and at least one more cocktail each. But They never gave us the chance to order anything else.
It was very nice. I had crab meat cocktail it was delicious and the filet mignonettes were very good.
Came for senior special so it was empty. Food still good.
the restaurant was super cute. i took my sister and her friends out to dinner and they loved it. the music was great and the food was delicious and the service was good. they took the necessary precautions and it was spacious enough to feel comfortable and safe. definitely would recommend.
I'm a former server so it really takes a lot for me to give a 1 star for service. But it was the day before Valentine's Day, and the restaurant wasn't full at all, my server maybe had a three table section. I called ahead to make sure we were just allowed to order off the pre-fix menu as my fiancé is vegetarian and plus we would of spent more money and had a higher bill, thus a higher gratuity ordering off the menu (I always start with tipping 20% and goes up from there, this server would of gotten no tip probably if someone other than me [or another person who's also served] was their patron. So I ask for the regular menu because like I said and called to make sure we could still order off the regular menu (which we could), and another table with a different server had the regular menu, so when I asked her, she a actually scoffed and said "do you need that menu" as if I was doing her a disservice of ordering off the regular menu because she thought us not order (2) $60 pre-fix orders would hinder us from tipping, so I tipped her 20% just to spite her, not that she probably cared. Needless to say, won't be going back. Oh and the rice balls had a cold center but that wasn't her fault.
Great food. Beautiful setting, just a bit chilly as we were seated outside just before the
Food and drinks were good and we felt safe with the social distancing from other parties. However the service was subpar.
Brix was a nice place to take my entire family (5 small kids included). The service was great and they were very accommodating setting up our table. The food was average pizzeria type food. There wasn't anything special about it, but what we ordered came out in a reasonable time and was prepared well. If your looking for a nice family restaurant without any high expectations, Brix is a nice find
I had seen several good reviews on social media and have been wanting to stop in being it is a new restaurant in my area. My mother was visiting from Florida and my girlfriend and I wanted to take her out to dinner.Mom decided she'd like Italian food. So, I took them to Brix. Everything was just great all around. The atmosphere was great, service was great, food was superb.. We shared the artichoke appetizer, which we all loved.. My Orecchiette Alla Norcina was delicious! And, Im not a guy who usually takes a doggy bag, if its on my plate its gone, but the portion could easily fed two.. Mom loved her spinach raviolis and Brittany loved her shrimp fancese (which is a favorite). I highly recommend it whether its date night or a group event.
We found Brix by accident because it was listed under Montclair in Open Table but actually is in Belleville. We were the only patrons there on a Saturday night when we first walked in. The food was great but the waiter actually forgot about our Caesar salad appetizer. Its not that he was busy!! He made good by wrapping it up so we could bring it home and not charging us. They had a great micro brew selection of beer as well as a decent wine list. The ambiance was very nice and the bathroom was clean and done up.
We would definitely go back, as long as we didn't want to go to Montclair!!
Very good food, brick oven pizza's were incredible especially for the half prize before 7pm! Tried almost all pizza's! Entree servings were huge and can be split so it was perfect that we have pizza's as appetizers and split the 6 entrees, we were a group of 16 and there was more than enough. Unfortunately, the server forgot our calamari fritti but it's ok, we'll go back to try that. Best part is the Karaoke which starts at 9pm on a Friday. It's fun, energetic and folks seems in a different world just having a great time.
I took my g/f here for her bday, a little surprise dinner with some of her friends. The place is absolutely phenominal in terms of service and has a very unique Ambience. We were in a big group which just felt so fit for the place however i observed couples and larger groups having just as great of a time. there known for their brick oven pizza, which is what we ordered and it was definitely not a let down. I would recomend this place to anyone looking for a quick bit or a nice dinner, great food and service. I will definitely be going back.
Good, basic Italian. Wouldn't recommend straying far from predictable dishes.
Who goes to Belleville for good pizza? There's pizza everywhere you look. Pizza wars on every corner. And pasta? Everyone and their mother (and mother's mother) makes good pasta.
Well, maybe but honey, when the waitress says "people like us for our sauces" and "our pizza is really pretty good" you can believe her. Creamy Alfredo with mushroom ravioli ... home made. Fig and onion pizza. It's also a sports bar, and I am so NOT a sports bar gal but ... the game was rather interesting. What can I say?
Great late night hours -- and reasonable! If this was Brooklyn or Manhattan the prices would be 50% higher and the NY Times would be doing a cameo. Go now before they find it.
Although making a reservation a week in advance, when we arrived there was no table set up for us. We had to wait a long time for drink and food service, they were simply unprepared for the large crowd.
We found this place through open table and thought let's give it a try! The food was great. We got fig and cheese pizza to die for, ago tuna, ravioli, chicken park, cannoli, carrot cake, and a pitcher of sangria all great, the server was wonderful, we even met the owner! Def will go back.
The food was excellent and the staff was very attending. Generous food portions for the price point.
The drinks were great and the service was alright. I really enjoyed my food. We had a nice time while eating here. We definitely will be coming back here again.
Good local spot with an nice menu. Portions were nice sized for the price so great value. Service was friendly and attentive and the manager was personally visiting tables during the night checking in. Food overall was good and they were willing to accommodate dietary needs.
We too my mother here on Mother's Day for a super early dinner and the restaurant was pretty empty. That meant fast and attentive service. It was great to not have to wait forever as we were all pretty hungry.
The coconut shrimp and Margherita pizza were the table favorites.
Def a place to go with a group of friends. Def woul recommend it to others. Manager/owner was a pleasant
The food was great and I love that you can purchase variety of tapas and share among group at table. Energetic scene at bar. Deliciousddessert!
Only two tables occupied and the service was very slow. My friend was served her entree 10 minutes before mine. When my pizza finally came out it was cold. Luckily I took home my leftover pizza, heated it in the oven and it was amazing. I will be back to give it another chance but will hold of on recommending to friends.
The restaurant is very comfortable. The food was good and the wait service was excellent. They were having a comedy night and although, we did not have reservations, they had a cancellation and were able to accommodate us. The show was almost 3 hours long and terrific. The cost was very reasonable. This was definitely a find and we will definitely go back again. Highly recommend this place!
The food was good, though a little light on seasonings, and the service was friendly. They have good sounding football specials, and a good selection of beers on tap. My only issue is that the "tapas" are really more small plates, having an Italian spin more so than a Spanish taste.
What I liked about Brix:
Menu wasn't 20 pages long
Noise level was tolerable - really not too noisy at all although this would change with the entertainment they bring in, but that is expected
Owners ACTUALLY walked around to great customers and ask themselves how things were. When was the last time that happened
Food was delicious
Food was delivered in a timely manner - AND HOT!
Overall excellent dining experience. Highly recommended. Will definitely be going back
I wuold hardly call small meatballs, or mozzarella in carrozza tapas - I would however call it cicchetti, and I think this place has a chance to be reinvented. The french onion soup, another non italian classic was excellent, the seafood salad would benefit from seasoning otherwise would be at home in any fine sicilan christmas eve dinner table - Brix tapas has an identity crisis.
We really enjoyed our meal at Brix! The place is beautiful, comfortable and welcoming! Steve and Ann were wonderful as well. They greeted everyone with a genuine welcome and stopped by tables to chat with their customers and check on their meals.Service was excellent! Stop by for a pleasant dining experience! Large portions and great brick oven pizza!
first they gave me a bad table just at the entrance with all the people passing by that was not good, sangria and food also not good... don't go back again
