We had lunch here over a year ago, and while the menu was limited, we enjoyed the food. Unfortunately I cannot same the same for this visit. The menu is still limited and does not offer a great deal of choice. What we did have however was terrible - both starters and mains. The food looked and tasted as if it had been around for a few days - even the rice (I think it is nigh on impossible to get rice wrong). Added to this was appalling service - it took 45 minutes for the starters to arrive. We were entertained however during our wait by the couple behind us who refused to eat or pay for what they had been given, describing it as "disgusting". We should have followed suit and given up after the starters as the main were in fact disgusting - I did have to chase the waiter to bring the mains as we had now been there an hour - we would have been better leaving. To be then charged £50 for two people with only one glass of wine is a joke (I had to go find someone to give me the bill). One of the worst Indian meals we have ever had - and we have had a lot. Will never go there again and I recommend you give it a miss.

The food is excellent. I have been there several times whilst working in the area and have always arrived soon after opening so it is usually quiet. Service is good and prices are reasonable.

Have gone along on New Years Eve for several years now as well as on other occassions. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the food is good. Easy walking distance when having a drink and always a good atmosphere.

Check your bill - once is a mistake, twice careless but more then that and it's serious. Each time we have been here we have been charged twice for popadoms and chutney and have had to send the bill back. We won't ever go here again - aside from that the food was OK but small portions and high prices - £14.75 for a tiny bowl of chicken which alleged to have prawns in it too was very poor value for money. We never normally finish a meal in an Indian Restaurant but left here still hungry.

Mandatory that ever person seated has a main course. Kids have to pay half price for a main. Portions were tiny. Food was tasty but restaurant was not busy. Pompadoms were charged per Pompadom. Seemed very much that they were more interested in making money than developing loyal. Customers. Will not return.

Excellent menu choice, there was 6 of us dining and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was friendly and professional. I would highly recommend the Ceylon curry.

Great Indian meal at Britannia Spice during our trip to Edinburgh. The restaurant is definitely out of the traditional "tourist area". The food was wonderful - the restaurant was not busy at all, and the service was definitely slow to start, but once we placed our order the service definitely picked up. I understand that the restaurant's name is a reference to the HMS Britannia, the retired royal yacht docked nearby, but the nautical décor of the restaurant is a little odd for an Indian restaurant. Great experience overall.
