I've always enjoyed the Bristol oyster bar but do not care for their new menu style of small plates, tapas style. I think there's too many different flavors that don't really mesh together.

The new chef outdid himself. We had the pork belly snack and smoked trout pate snack. Both out of this world. Then proceeded to the crab cake and the salmon small plates. Amazing!we have always enjoyed Bristol oyster house but are thotoughly loving the new makeover.

Very Good. Highly Recommend. The featured oysters were perfect and the salmon and hake small plates were some of the best fish dishes we have ever had.

It was a beautiful night to sit outside on the patio. Our service was prompt and courteous. The house rosé was the only one available by the glass, but was really delicious. At $12 it was a good value and a nice pour. We got a dozen oysters which were very pricey, but fresh and delicious. They list many varieties on their menu, but at this particular moment in time only had two options. We got six of each and though small, they were big on flavor. We ordered the burrata, mushroom fricassee and Delmonico potatoes. Each dish was most delicious. The mushroom fricassee had crunchy, sweet, incredible green beans as a part of it which we were not aware, but I thoroughly enjoyed. The potatoes were sinfully buttery with delicious cubes of bacon. The burrata came with plenty of toasts we did not even use them all. The outdoor dining is a bit casual for the price point, the tables and chairs are like mid-level outdoor patio furniture. Plus, you are surrounded by a plastic tent. We did not mind it, but the decor could be amped up more I would say. Also, there is no way to get into the place! Very unusual entry, and to get outside to the patio you need to go through the bowels of the building. I guess it is an old YMCA. But I would definitely go if you love oysters and trying new things, we were very impressed. It is definitely not your typical seafood restaurant. The shareable sides were really quite large and there was more food than we needed for two of us.

I didn’t even know there was a new chef and menu. We were very disappointed. The new menu is all tapas. Small plates and not were very good. The service and atmosphere was wonderful. I just wish they had the old menu back. The old menu was excellent. We don’t think we’ll be back.

The food was exceptional, as always! They also offer delightful mocktails, perfect for those who are pregnant or choosing not to drink alcohol.

Buck a shuck is great, but there are plenty of other awesome things to try: tuna poke, deviled eggs, pork belly, beef tartar, and more.

Bristol Oyster Bar is now a small tapas restaurant. The value of what you pay for the amount of food you receive has gone down. The food was still very good, but the price vs quantity has changed. If you like the tapas platform, then you'll probably like the new setup. I'm not a fan of small plates or tapas so I didn't feel the cost was worth what we received. Service was excellent.
