The Bristol is always consistent.
Consistent professional servers
Consistent great food
Consistent great experience
We do not typically decide to eat at the Bristol, however every time we have eaten there, we have enjoyed our experience. This was New Years Eve and somewhat special. It was a very enjoyable experience and the food was well prepared.
Wonderfully redecorated and clean!
They were at capacity and we felt safe!
A wide variety of menu items, great drinks and food!
Service was very attentive including the Manager frequenting our table.
Please dine here and support our local restaurants!!
At 50 % capacity felt safe, socially distant. Remodel was nice. Server was attentive and food delicious
Appetizers were great, steaks very overcooked, yet Luke warm, and small. Just not a great meal. Sorry.
Service slow but food great. No refills etc.
The Bristol East is always awesome! Food and service excellent. Highly recommend.
everything was great!
Experience was very disappointing. We had been to another bristol earlier this year and the green chili wontons were amazing. At this bristol they were ok, like the rest of the food was just okay. Service was quite slow but friendly. We seemed to wait for refills, and when I got my food I wanted salt. We didn't see the waiter again until my wife was done with her meal and I was almost done with mine. The manager was carrying food, and in the middle of the restaurant he yelled over 2 tables for a waiter to come help him. Just didn't seem professional. Overall nothing was terrible, but it didn't live up to what we were expecting and nothing stood out as good. We see no reason in returning.
We gathered there for an extended family meal during COVID. Service was good and the prices were in line with the quality of the food. Nothing spectacular about the quality or the presentation of the things we offered, but a nice place for lunch. I'm sure the limited menu and unpredictable demand impacted this visit. I'd like to return under much more normal conditions and try it again.
White tablecloths, a variety of foods, and knowledgeable waitresses.
Bristol is always great.
We were not impressed. The restaurant was dirty. The furnishings were old and in need of replacement. The bathroom floor was sticky. This being the condition of the areas viewed by the public no telling what the kitchen looked like.
We started with a waiter who's look of disappointment was obvious when we didn't order drinks. He was one of those waiters who didn't write down our order. Of course, he had to come back and ask what we ordered. One plate of food delivered to our table was not ours. Oh, by the way, this is one of those places which puts the suggested tip size on your check. That's cool, but their suggestions start at 18% and go up.
Now for food. We started with the Fried Calamari which was flat and had very little taste and was greasy. I had the Bristol fish sandwich. It had very little taste as well. The tartar sauce just missed the mark. (That could just be my personal taste.) I'm sure the Bristol coleslaw came out of a tub either from Sysco or Gordon's Food Service. I have to say it was the best thing on my plate. My wife had the a salad and the grilled salmon Teriyaki which was just a piece of grilled salmon with heaps of Teriyaki sauce pour all over it. She didn't finish hers. My son had the crab cakes with a salad. The crab cakes were as flat as a flitter as were their taste. He's from Maryland and knows what a good crab cake is.
Anyway, this is not a restaurant we would recommend to a friend or you.
A bit disappointed in our last brunch visit--the food was lukewarm especially the fried chicken. Our server was great though.
We made reservations for dinner. When we entered the restaurant, the hostess just stared at us. I greeted her, she did not respond and then she asked if the table we needed was for just two people. We told her we had a reservation and then she seated us. Our server didn't come to our table to greet us for at least 5 minutes which seemed like a long time to me. Our order was taken and we had the Fried Cauliflower. Some pieces were crispy and other pieces were soft. It was an inconsistent dish. I ordered a martini and when it arrived I noticed that I didn't receive a cocktail straw. I requested a straw and it took at least 15 minutes for my server to realize that she hadn't brought it yet. When she brought the straws to me she was holding the cocktail straws in her bare hands as opposed to giving it to me in a napkin. Needless to say, I didn't use the straws. When my dinner arrived, the server (a different person from our original server) forgot to bring my skillet fries with my salad. They said they would go get it but it didn't arrive for at least 10 minutes. When it finally arrived they were cold. I told my server and she said she would take it off the bill and bring me fresh fries right away. I asked her to put it in a to-go box since we were ready to leave. Approximately 10-15 minutes later she still hadn't returned with the fries. We decided to pay the bill and leave as opposed to waiting. Our server was very pleasant and polite but the service, food, etc were so inconsistent that it was difficult to really enjoy our dining experience. I believe they need more training of the serving staff, kitchen staff and hostess so that food is consistent in quality (e.g. temperature-appropriate, good quality deep frying practices, etc) and so that guests have a good experience. I don't plan to return to this restaurant unless I hear of improvement in these items that I have mentioned.
The Restaurant was very accommodating. We moved tables and Maggie was very helpful. She was a great server
Thanks for your compliments! We are lucky to have Maggie in this restaurant. Looking forward on your next visit!!
Brunch with friend.
We were seated at a table for 2, next to a 5 gallon bucket sitting on the floor catching water from a leaky ceiling. When we expressed our displeasure with the table we were told the restaurant would be full and there wasn’t another choice. However, there were lots of empty tables at that time. A large party of maybe 20+ people came in and were seated around us. They were standing around waiting for everyone to arrive before seating, but took up the whole room so that we couldn’t get back to our table after getting our food. Our server was super sweet and kept apologizing for the loudness and inconvenience.
The food was barely warm from the buffet.
This used to be a great place to go for Sunday brunch, with a very nice atmosphere and great food. But yesterday did not meet our expectations.
Food was great, drinks were plentiful and the service was remarkable
Great food and service are two of our staples! Thanks for the rave review, looking forward on hosting you again soon!
Waitress seemed a little frazzled, may it use to being a server.
All good. Quick seating, comfortable temperature inside, server brought food quickly.
Packed for Valentines day and still had a fabulous dinner!
Food was just outstanding and service was top notch. Best gourmet burger in town and steak sandwich is always the BEST!
Another great experience at Bristol. Their brunch is great!
We had reservations at 7pm on 2/8 - arrived five minutes early and young lady at desk said there was a 30 minute wait and there are several groups in front of us who did not have reservations!!! Went to bar to wait and after talking to manager we did get a table around 7:30 - by teaming up with another couple. Very poor.
Great place but needs up date
Professional and courteous
One thing you can count on is consistency in Bristol food, no matter which location.
The soup and salad was delicious.
Stopped at the Bristol before heading to the Louisville Orchestra because we knew we would have a good meal at a good price and still make the opening curtain! Try their fish tacos - very good flavor! And of course their bread is never to be missed!
Just average. While the food was good and service passable, the overall experience was just average.
Our server was Kianna (sp ?) and she was just terrific. She was attentive and remembered everything we requested. The food was correct and served piping hot. You just cannot beat the prices and selection!!
Always great food and excellent Old Fashions.
We love The Bristol but tonight was not one of those times! I made reservations for New Year’s Eve for three. We were seated pretty much on time but then waited up to 10 minutes for our server. In the meantime the party seated after us was given water and drinks by the host who had just seated us. My son asked at the bar for some service and our server came immediately. The restaurant was super busy and obviously understaffed. Our server did the best he could. He had served us before and he’s always super but there was no way he could keep up tonight. The food also was not at the usual level. I understand the night was new year’s but the restaurant was struggling. We will definitely return but will avoid busy nights.
I love The Bristol and it never disappoints. The ambiance, food, service, it’s all great!
Ordered food salads came but at least 20 mins later some man dressed very poorly, maybe manager? Did not identify himself. Told us out of trout which was the special. Did not know that when order went in? Sat us by group of people who staff kept adding seats for very annoying and loud And there were empty tables for us or them elsewhere in restaurant. Waitress was doing her best but overwhelmed Not a good dining experience
One of my favorite restaurants in Louisville. My Fillet Mandarin steak was one of the best steaks that I have ever had.
Everyone enjoyed their dinner and had a great time.
We were put at a table next to a very loud table of about 8 people but they were just enjoying themselves. Took away from the usual ambiance for us. We shared the chicken chili & mahi mahi special. It was served with rice & asparagus & was very good, but a pretty tiny portion. Went home & had a dessert!
Food was great. Wonderful service from Rachel H. Our large party of 10 really enjoyed it.
The Bristol is OK, but it seems like it's stuck in a bit of a time warp and hasn't evolved to 2019. I think that appeals to some, but given the other dining options available in the East end I'll likely not be back. Food was fine, and the restaurant/ambiance was equally OK ... just nothing special.
Salad was crisp. Thai stir fry was great!
