Bristol Bar & Grille - Downtown
First of all, the restaurant was almost empty, during a time when you would imagine it was booming before a major event at the KFC YUM Center. This was a bad sign. The service from our waiter was amazing. The menu was covered with some type of film that made it seem very dirty. We ordered and didn’t have to wait long for our food. The appetizer was delicious but it went downhill from there. I ordered the steak sandwich. Dry steak on a tiny piece of French bread no sauce or AuJus to use. Another of us in the party had pasta with huge chunks of rubbery chicken. This place has potential to be wonderful but it is lacking so much at this point. I will not be going back until I hear that some changes have been made.
We were at the Bristol for a company team dinner. The menu was extensive enough for everyone to find something they liked, the drinks were amazing and the staff was very friendly.
The breakfast buffet is wonderful and the service was great!
Food was just ok. Scallop dish included 4 small scallops that were overlooked. Olds fashions were not good. Waitress was very friendly and attentive.
I am not a regular Bristol patron but have eaten there many times over the past years. It's convenient downtown when you want to attend performances at either Actor's or Kentucky Center. However, our experience was just okay. The menu hasn't changed for a long time, in my opinion, so I think they could do more to offer more entrees that aren't so heavy. The rolls were hard and I didn't eat them. My husband ordered a Cobb salad with extra chicken and the amount of chicken was pretty sad. However, they only charged $3 more so I wouldn't expect much for that. I just think Bristol can do better than this. Our server didn't seem excited to be there either, she barely smiled. We won't be going back.
By recommendation, my wife and I dined at the Bristol Bar & Grill on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was not very crowded, the food was delicious and the service excellent. Definitely a great place for dinner during the week. I was told it can be crowded on weekends, so best to have a reservation.
We had reservations for a table of 10 - it was set up and waiting for us which was fantastic! Our reservation was for my brother's 21st birthday and so many of the staff stopped to say happy birthday to him, which was very thoughtful and was much appreciated. The food was delicious and our server was very informative and helpful. We really enjoyed our meals and our experience. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
I ordered a medium filet mandarin but it was well done and tough. I had a hard time chewing it. My granddaughter ordered a chicken/pasta dish. The chicken was overcooked and dry. Neither of us could eat our entree.
It was just ok. Artichoke fritters and bruschetta were very bland. Salmon was overcooked and dry. Asparagus was flavorless and limp.
Our brunch before Hamilton was great! We were seated immediately—our server Dawn was great! The food was delicious and plentiful! We really love Bristol!! It’s our go to place before a show!
Did not know until we ordered drinks that it was brunch buffet only on Sunday. Would have been nice to know.
Great brunch before performance at KY Center for Arts. Delish!
Waitress was absolutely horrible. Long time for food to come out.
We like to eat at Bristol when we come into Louisville for an event. The food and service are always top-notch.
Made revelations because they had gluten free options. Upon ordering a tuna salad sandwich on a gluten free bun we were told they had no gluten free buns. A few minutes later our server came back to tell us the had tuna salad? Unsure why either option is on the menu??? Very frustrating!
Server was very slow. could have been late for our scheduled show, and we had booked with plenty of time. Found a ladybug in the salad, and server was quite dismissive, almost acting as if we put it there.
We were very disappointed in our experience..the server wasn’t very good and the food was worse. The bread was so hard it could’ve been used as a baseball. Potatoes were over cooked and dry.. this was our favorite restaurant.. no table clothes.. very sad
Excellent food and ambiance. It can be a little loud in the main dining area when totally full, but that is to be expected. The wait staff does a great job catering to individuals on a time table (esp. for those going to performances at the Kentucky Center for the Arts). The Green Chili Wontons are a must! The Bristol will not disappoint.
Great place to eat a delicious meal before a show at the Kentucky Center.
I’d been to this restaurant several years ago and liked it but unfortunately had a very disappointing recent experience. Went there for a quick late lunch with several colleagues when there were only a handful of customers in the restaurant. Our waitress was lovely but for whatever reason unbeknownst to us we had a very long wait for our lunch orders. After about 45 minutes, I inquired about the status and then about 10 minutes later we were finally served. The food which was salads and sandwiches was mediocre.
We had an early resv before the theatre, ordered appetizers, calamari and their specialty won tons. The calamari was room temp and completely soggy, we immediately sent it back and then ordered the won tons. They were exactly the same- only warm, not Crispy and the cheese and side was the not slightly melted. We ate a few and did not complain. I ordered the salon burger, it thin, room temp and tasted dry as if too much mill or filler.
This use to be my go to spot when attending plays or musicals. We were a party of 3 Adults and one child. They were out of crab cakes and something else. However, the only thing that was good, was the chicken tenders and chips that my niece had. The manager got my cousins email address and promised to send her coupon for future use.
The waiter was abrupt and showed no signs of courtesy. The food was subpar with main staples running out hours before brunch was over, i.e. no bacon. The mimosa was bitter as if a substandard or spoiled champagne was used. Overall, not a pleasant experience. Will likely never visit this restaurant for brunch again. Thanks.
We went here for Fathers Day Brunch. At 1245 they were out of multiple foods on the Buffett. It took 15 minutes or more for them to bring more food out. One person had been waiting for them to cook bacon for 25 minutes. Our server let the plates on the table pile up high. It was definitely not the service expected from Bristol compared to other locations. I wouldn’t visit this location for brunch ever again.
After reserving a table for two and noting that it was our first time in the OpenTable notes section we were placed at a table essentially right next to the hostess. I ask to be moved but was told they could not accommodate the move do to other reserved tables. Some of those tables were filled other the next hour. Some were not. Those that were not filled were sat with walk ins at a later time. Really don't appreciate when hostesses ruin a experience because of their power trip. The only other offer we had was to sit outside. As first timers and someone who actually cared about the table we could have easily been moved to be further satisfied. The table we sat in should not even be placed where it is. Our first time there and we were not around anyone except the front door. Awful awful table. Waitress was mediocre. Not taking the table placement out on her but she was one of those waitresses that you wished was on the ball like every one of the tables were being taken care of around you. Other staff seemed much more on the ball. Example: Asked for house bread after seeing it on another table. Waitress didn't bring it out until 15mins later. Nice. I ordered a salmon which came out completely undercooked. Not just for my taste. It was pink and mushy. Gross. I brought it to their attention after having ate about a quarter of the salmon. They simply took the salmon back and recooked the portion I had eaten off of. To me that's kind of gross and unhygienic. And guess what? When it came back out the outer portion of the salmon was less pink but the middle was a nice warm center. I brought this to the attention of our server and she said that they cook on the medium side. I simply mentioned that for someone who sent pink mushy salmon back to be recooked this is not really acceptable. I didn't eat the rest and they ended up taking it off the bill. Not saying this restaurant doesn't have the capability to shine but this was my experience. My first and only experience.
We had a great pre-Hamilton lunch yesterday at the Bristol downtown. Friendly staff, great food, wonderful service. Christina was a great, fun server. We will be back!
Great food service and location for a show across the street. My go to dinner choice
Great place to go before theatre
I took friends here because I had visited before. Our entrees arrived. I then asked the server about our salads, which should have arrived first. Then, I asked about bread, which also should have arrived before the entrees. One of my friends tried to bounce her roll off the table because it was hard as a rock. The wontons were good, but never again.
This was the perfect brunch spot for an early Father’s Day celebration. Delicious food, mimosas and Bloody Mary bar!
Food was not cooked as ordered. Discussed with the manager. No charge but ruined appetite.
We learned something on this trip. I had reservations at 5pm after Hamilton. When we arrived, the waiter took us to one of the back rooms, even though there were open tables all over the place. While I know they were reserved, we were in and out in under an hour. I know to request a table in the main area, because I really don't want to go someplace where we are the only ones sitting there and where nothing else is going on. I very much appreciated them accommodating us because otherwise, we'd have left.
They were out of my favorite dish. No restaurant should ever run out of anything on their menu.
We had a noon lunch reservation, we were seated promptly and our waiter appeared shortly thereafter for our drink orders. 3 of us took advantage of the build your own Bloody Mary bar, which was well stocked and terrific! Our waiter went over the daily specials and we ordered, Everyone was pleased with their selections. I had the frittata special, very large portion of the egg/cheese pie and quite tasty. 2 had Hot Browns and said they were delicious. The salmon entree was also very good. They even validated my parking for the 6th Street Garage.
Always great food, and until this visit, great service. Our server told us he would be right with us, then told us the same thing when he returned 10 minutes later. When he did come back, he said we would be well taken care of, as he had “been doing this a long time. Our appetizer, salad, and wine all arrived together, and I never did get the cocktail I ordered; he said he thought he remembered it, but never asked. They were extremely busy, since it was a Ky Center show night.
Went before seeing “Hamilton” and service was friendly and prompt. My entree was one of the best I’ve ever had. The smoked scallops with tempura asparagus and grits with teriyaki sauce. An excellent start to a stellar evening!
The restaurant itself was nice. The food was just OK - the service was good, very friendly. Myself & one of my friends had asked for our steaks to be “medium” & they were well-done... we did not send them back, which I’m sure if we had they would’ve corrected that...but would’ve expected it right the first time, as it was not a busy evening at all.
Music... Bad selection for the venue.
It needs to be a bit jazzy for that type of restaurant.
Great place for a Sunday brunch! Décor is modern (lighting fixtures so interesting and unique). Brunch was a buffet in a large room, it seemed that we could fill our plates over and over. They have a make your own bloody mary option, we did not try it but maybe next time!
Service was great. Steak was a little chewy but nice experience
