Great value for Sunday brunch. Prefer to sit outside as music played inside restaurant does not enhance dining experience.

I think the establishment must have recently lost some vital employees, or they are having financial problems. The food quality was equivalent to fast food. The understaffing caused an unacceptable wait for service. The kitchen sent us hamburger platters with nothing but an overdone hamburger patty on a naked bun. We had to ask for condiments. No need to avoid the Bristol Bar & Grill much longer. It will be out-of-business soon. It is a great location. No doubt the next establishment will have superior quality and service.

I'm at a bit of a disadvantage because I grew up going to the Bristol at the Kentucky center that was larger, with an omelette bar (something this buffet is sorely missing) so it makes me less excited about this brunch than I probably should be. It's good food, it's a decent variety - maybe it's because it's in a small, all white room that it looks underwhelming? My suggestion to the Bristol would be to paint or decorate that room somehow to make it feel more full!

Attended with 5 other guests. Not sure if that was the only place they could accommodate a part of six, but we were seated in the covered patio area without being asked. The acoustics were not very conducive for conversations unless you wanted to included all adjacent tables (ie had to speak very loudly to hear each other!). By all accounts the food was very good, I had the Green Chili Hot Brown, highly recommend it! The service was so-so in that apparently they were short of help in the bar area and therefore we had to wait a long time just for a few beers to be delivered. Also had to remind our waitress twice for some worcestershire sauce. Still, I would recommend the Bristol for dinner before a show at the Center for the Arts, or as was our case, a play at Actors Theater. From the time we were seated until we left for the show it took about 1 hr 40 min. This was on a Saturday evening and restaurant was crowded.

For some reason, every time we reserve the Bristol on Open Door after a Saturday matinee at the KY Center, we are led past dozens of empty tables into a side room. We will not eat in that side room. What do we have to do to ensure we get decent placement when we make a decision reservation? It has napped the last three times. We have refused to sit there and were seated somewhere else— but why do we have to demand it? Also, I mentioned that it was my wife’s birthday and I thought they might do something— but nothing happened. We are questioning whether the o bother coming back.

The food was good. There were four of us and we were pleased. The service started out great but got slower as we went on. We told the waitress we were going to a play. Think she may have gotten overwhelmed. Normally the Bristol is great about getting you in and out quickly if you have somewhere to go. We still made the play on time but made us a little nervous. We will be back.

I went with a group of 5 girls. We waited 30-45 minutes before we got our drinks which weren’t good and weren’t made as they were written on the menu. One of the drinks we ordered they were out of and when we asked for a taste of a certain drink before she ordered again we were told the bar was too busy to give her a taste.
After an hour, our food finally came and all 5 dishes were either wrong, over cooked, or under cooked. Thankfully the manager was understanding and took off all the food and some of the drinks from our bill and we left and went somewhere else for dinner since our food was inedible.
I don’t recommend this place.

Mediocre meal at best. Very unusual waiter, and not in a good way. Bar was backed up because of big table and out of most bourbons we tried to order. And flies, lots of them, in the dining room. I would not go back or recommend.

Great place to stop before going to the Louisville Orchestra at the Kentucky Center. Park in the Center garage and you can walk to the Bristol and then to the center. Try the wontons! And the Mediterranean pasta is great!

This venue used to be a favorite of mine. This time, the food was just average -- not bad, but not that amazing. I had the "Mandarin" filet. There was nothing "Mandarin" about it, I'm afraid. It was an accurate medium rare, but if there was any "...marinated in soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger and Mandarin liqueur...," I most certainly couldn't tell, and the results were a bit dry. The skillet fried potatoes were also undistinguished. My wife had similar things to day about the salmon Teriyaki. The service was super, though, and the location appropriate to our needs at the time. And the prices were reasonable.

UPDATE: Bristol very nicely reached out to me, and is determined to make this right. I always appreciate when restaurants do that, and we'll try them again and update this review to reflect.

Our server must have been new. She did not know about the specials, did not know about the appetizers that we requested and she forgot to put the meat and seafood on the salads that we ordered. The manager apologized, but offered no discount or any other type of Consideration. I am a long-time patron of the Bristol and this was without question, the worst service we’ve ever had. It was also disappointing that the manager did not seem to take it seriously.

This was my first time visiting the Bristol. We had a party of 3 and took advantage of the brunch buffet. For $16 and $2 mimosas it was more than an amazing deal. So much food to chose from and it was all delicious. I was not the biggest fan of the eggs. I do not think they were scrambled from fresh cracked eggs and also think the place could use a little updating. (the paint was chipping) Our sever was very attentive and kept the coffee coming. I was surprised at how great the grits were. We got there at 11am and it was pretty quiet, but the time we left at around 12:30 it was a lot busier. We will definitely make our rounds back there for another brunch visit.

Dinner on a Tuesday night and the food was good. Staff was very kind and the patio was inviting. The green chili wontons that are supposedly what they are known for, weren’t THAT great. Not sure I understand the hype.

First of all, the restaurant was almost empty, during a time when you would imagine it was booming before a major event at the KFC YUM Center. This was a bad sign. The service from our waiter was amazing. The menu was covered with some type of film that made it seem very dirty. We ordered and didn’t have to wait long for our food. The appetizer was delicious but it went downhill from there. I ordered the steak sandwich. Dry steak on a tiny piece of French bread no sauce or AuJus to use. Another of us in the party had pasta with huge chunks of rubbery chicken. This place has potential to be wonderful but it is lacking so much at this point. I will not be going back until I hear that some changes have been made.

I am not a regular Bristol patron but have eaten there many times over the past years. It's convenient downtown when you want to attend performances at either Actor's or Kentucky Center. However, our experience was just okay. The menu hasn't changed for a long time, in my opinion, so I think they could do more to offer more entrees that aren't so heavy. The rolls were hard and I didn't eat them. My husband ordered a Cobb salad with extra chicken and the amount of chicken was pretty sad. However, they only charged $3 more so I wouldn't expect much for that. I just think Bristol can do better than this. Our server didn't seem excited to be there either, she barely smiled. We won't be going back.

By recommendation, my wife and I dined at the Bristol Bar & Grill on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was not very crowded, the food was delicious and the service excellent. Definitely a great place for dinner during the week. I was told it can be crowded on weekends, so best to have a reservation.

We had reservations for a table of 10 - it was set up and waiting for us which was fantastic! Our reservation was for my brother's 21st birthday and so many of the staff stopped to say happy birthday to him, which was very thoughtful and was much appreciated. The food was delicious and our server was very informative and helpful. We really enjoyed our meals and our experience. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Excellent food and ambiance. It can be a little loud in the main dining area when totally full, but that is to be expected. The wait staff does a great job catering to individuals on a time table (esp. for those going to performances at the Kentucky Center for the Arts). The Green Chili Wontons are a must! The Bristol will not disappoint.
