Italian
BRIO (meaning "lively" or "full of life") is a "polished casual" restaurant serving authentic, northern Italian cuisine. The subtitle, "Tuscan Grille" is descriptive for a menu that features oven-roasted steaks, chops, and seafood; similar to what one would find in an authentic ristorante in Tuscany. BRIO's philosophy of "to eat well, is to live well" is why they only use the finest and freshest ingredients. BRIO brings the pleasure of a Tuscan country villa to the American city. To learn more, go to www.BrioItalian.com

We are located at City Creek Mall, an upscale open-air shopping center. Parking is underground with the best access to Brio from the 100 South entrance. We are located one block from The Salt Palace Convention Center & the LDS Temple. We offer Happy Hour Monday through Friday 3:30pm to 6:30pm & $5.00 Martini’s All Day every day. We also have several private dining areas to accommodate 20-120 guests.

The food is always fantastic and the service impeccable, but Justin Brooks (manager) is what keeps us coming back. He seems to be everywhere, and always makes sure his guests are taken care of. He’s definitely a cut above, and makes the Downtown Brio our “go to” restaurant for casual dining. Thanks, Justin.

I’ve eaten at both Brio locations in the Salt Lake Valley, and hands down City Creek is my favorite. The Staff is awesome and the location is perfect. If the weather is warm, I strongly recommend eating on the patio.

Server was really quiet and didn’t make any impression, no personality. The food was good, but absolutely not worth the price. I had an appetizer and entree with shrimp and both times the shrimp were over cooked and tough. If I am paying $26 for a shrimp and lobster fettuccine, the shrimp better be tender. Other than that, the sauces were great, and portions nice. The quality of ingredients was just not up to par with the price. There are better Italian places within walking distance.

I’ve eaten here before and it was better. This time 3 out of the 4 of us didn’t like our meals! And 2 of us didn’t feel well after dinner. It was disappointing for sure and I’ll think twice about going back.

While the atmosphere was wonderful and the service very good, the food quality needs improvement. I had the Chicken Milanese and one of the chicken pieces was under cooked. The halibut did not included any sauce and the chopped salad contained mostly iceberg lettuce.

It was dissappointing 1) They have done away with the Bruchetta which My Wife and I loved. 2) I ordered the Shrimp and Lobster dinner.... The noodles were tuff and dry, there were only 6 shrimp and I only found like two pieces lobser making a very disappointing dinner.

My wife and I enjoyed dinner and a show here recently. Its location is convenient to the Eccles theater.

The service was excellent. The Ambiance was beautiful, my food was prepared to order, made with fresh ingredients, and delicious. I ordered the Bistecca and would recommend it!

I hope come again.

We found the lasagna and carbonara to be with less flavor than we expected. The portion size of the carbonara was a lot less than expected as well. I have been to this Brio location twice before during lunch and I was highly satisfied. Dinner definitely did not meet my expectations.

We were a few minutes late for our reservation and no longer had a table open for us in side. We had to sit on the patio and it was a little too cold. It would be nicer to have some portable heaters out there like they do at Cheesecake right next door. The service was pretty good. It was a little slow, but that's to be expected on a busy weekend night downtown. I ordered a salmon dish and the fish was water and not very flavorful. My husband's pasta was okay, but his sauce was a bit runny. There isn't anything unique on the menu as far as Italian dishes. The convenience of having a reservation on a Saturday night and how close it was to Abravanel Hall (where we had tickets to the Opera) are the reason we chose it. It was okay, but not worth the price.

I have been wanting to try this place for some time. I had learned to book in advance as there is always a waiting list of an hour or more. Needless to say, I was disappointed. Our server made it feel like any request was too much trouble, he really seemed like he wanted to be elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, i know we can all have bad days, but still, you would get far friendlier service at a fast food place. The food was okay, I had the spaghetti carbonara (not that our server was any help making recommendations) and to be honest, i have paid half as much for twice the quality. Overall, not a place I would recommend unless you want to have some drinks and maybe an appetizer, both of which were good.

I have visited the Irvine, CA Brio many times and it always is excellent. Delicious salmon dishes, great salads, great service. I visited the SLC Brio tonight and I was shocked at the difference between the Irvine and SLC Brio. Our waiter, from the very beginning, seemed disinterested in our table. We ordered the Calamari appetizer, which was quite good as was the bread plate. That was the highlight of the evening.

I ordered the pan seared salmon. The Salmon was edible, but lacked favor as did the roasted potatoes. The sauteed spinach was so sour it made my toes curl. I had asked for a glass of Chardonnay, which was recommended on the menu as a pairing with the Salmon. Another server brought out our food, but no glass of wine. So I let the server know who said she'd tell our waiter. 5+ minutes later our server showed to tell me that they have been out of that chardonnay for over a month and would I like a substitute. I said "sure." Another 5 mins and my wine showed up. I had waited to eat my dinner with the wine (the whole point of the pairing), but the meal was now close to cold. I ate the Salmon and most of the potatoes, but the spinach was not edible. When the waiter cleared our plates, I politely pointed out the issue with the spinach. He said they "have been having multiple issues that evening" and that he would let the kitchen know.

One of dinner companions had the Shrimp Capri who also said their dish mediocre and not a lot of flavor.

We got seated right away and sat outside. It was a beautiful night. But then the service was slow - had to ask for water refills several times. When our food came, it looked like it had been sitting under the lamp for awhile. And one of our entrees didn’t come for another 10 minutes. Very disappointing

We had an Easter Sunday lunch at the BRIO to round off the day and it was an excellent choice. We were greeted courteously and brought to our table, having made a reservation 5 days prior. Our drinks were served quickly and we were given ample time to look through the menu. We shared the fried calamari, which were light and not too greasy. Our son's salomon was fresh and cooked medium, which was perfect for his taste but for adults perhaps a tad too well. My wife's fettucine with shrimp was al dente and the number of and size of shrimp was better than expected. My lasagne was truly excellent in taste, but resembled more 2 giant raviolies than a typical multi-layered version. Excellent balance of spices, cheeses and meat. With 2 rounds of drinks and the gratuity, we paid 125 dollars. For the date and location, this is competely in line with the food quality and service. We'll be back!

Whether Brio hits the spot for you depends on what you are looking for. It is a fine mid price not too exciting Italian restaurant. Safe for a prom party (there were lots of prom goers there) or dinner before a Jazz game. Nothing innovative. For example, the chopped salad had canned black olives instead of Kalamata olives. The wine was ok but not great. Overall, maybe you get what you pay for? Great location if you are in City Creek. But the food is pretty middle of the road.
