BRIO Tuscan Grille - Kansas City - Country Club Plaza
We were there for two hours and did not get dinner. Eventually, I said I was no longer hungry and it was packed in to-go boxes and not palatable. The drinks, bread, everything was slow and behind. No attention filling water or anything. My daughters both ordered pesto chicken and one had way too much and the other one plain. Portions were not consistent and the one without pesto uses the others extra! Since we left, we we’re eating on the Concierge Room at the Intercontinental and it was much more enjoyable. At least there was service!
Normally the Brio is our go to place. They changed the menu and it's horrible now. Salad is very bland, steak was the worst I've ever had, asked for medium and it was small, all fat, and all red and chewy, the dropped the lobster off the menu, no sides, waitress tried to sit us at a table between the only other people in the place, we asked for a booth instead and she gave us a booth right next to them even though it was a large booth and there was only two of us. My wife didn't like the menu change either. Hopefully they fix their issues.
Our entrees, spaghetti w/vodka sauce and spaghetti w/cream sauce and pancetta, were well prepared and very good. The wedge salad was very fresh and was dressed with outstandingly delicious blue cheese. The warm bread with butter served before the meal was scrumptious. However, being an Italian restaurant we expected good olive oil with grated parmesan and maybe some herbs to be served along side with the butter. We asked the waiter for some and he eventually brought just a shallow plate of olive oil. This was an area that did disappoint us. Our server was mediocre and didn't seem to have much interest in being sure we were having an enjoyable experience. He was also slow at responding to our requests as we had a 10 minute wait between our drink order and when they were served. When we requested wine, it was at least 10 minutes. Brio's a good Italian place that can use a little help in their service and add a few extra special touches that would make a good experience an outstanding one.
This place was amazing! I was a little skeptical at first because I waited till kind of last minute to book a reservation for Valentine’s Day but this place definitely didn’t disappoint! Great ambiance, great service and great food. I also can’t forget about the great drinks. I had the brio old fashion and it was fantastic! Already been recommending it to all our friends and we can’t wait to get back as soon as possible.
Great food & great service even on a busy night! The restaurant was spacious & quiet enough to carry on good conversation. Took Waiter recommendations on food choice, and was very happy with it!
My daughters 21st Birthday
Very good service and the food was excellent. The only comment I would like to share is that the tablecloth had stains on it, which was not appealing.
Service was awful and it made for a really upsetting birthday dinner.
Sadie Hawkins night - lots of kids. Cute, but loud that night.
Excellent food though I did miss some old favorites. Tremendous service from Ray!
It was my first visit and I was quite disappointed with the service. I don't think I'll be returning. Our waiter Tyler ignored us multiple times, didn't keep the table cleared and did not refill our drinks. Other waiters walked by and noticed and took better care of us than he did, unfortunately. It was my twin sister and I's birthday, he literally started singing happy birthday and walked off and didn't finish. It was very odd and off-putting. To add insult to injury, the manager asked about our first visit and we communicated our concerns. He apologized and walked off as well. He did nothing to fix or correct the awful experience. The pasta I had was good, but wasn't worth the terrible customer service...
I had their salmon and sweet potato special. The salmon was fixed perfectly to a medium rare. The dish was delicious. We met another couple and had a wonderful evening.
Our dinner was fantastic. We started with a bottle of the Barbers d’Asti DOCG. Not too expensive ($30). Other wines were higher priced than I’d have liked (the Barollo was $90). My date and I shared the caprese and another appetizer that had thinly shaved meat served chilled. Both were great. Our entrees were the lasagna and the lobster and shrimp fettuccini. I didn’t try my date’s fettuccini but the ravioli was exceptional. It was a great value for the price. Our server was Jennifer and she was WONDERFUL. She provided excellent service and was very pleasant. I would request her for future visits. Her recommendations were great. She really put the cap on our whole evening.
Hostess was unfriendly. Did not say HI. I asked for a booth away from the door, no response. Seemed to be put out to be at work.
Brio was an excellent dining experience. Atmosphere, personnel and the food all wonderful. would definitely recommend and will certainly be returning myself. Thank you.
while the food was well presented it was only average at best, we had the crab cake to start and the crabmeat had either a packaged or dated quality definitely not fresh. my pasta was chewy and not an ample amount of sauce. service was a bit slow and choppy.
Everyone was AMAZING!! I appreciate the kindness and promptness!
The only thing is the noise level. I’m sorry was a little hard to talk across the table. Other than the experience was wonderful. Marvin took very good car of us.
The absolute worst service I ever received. We will not be back ever again.
I was really just disappointed in the wait staff. We waited quite a while for our server to take our order. It wasn't busy, and when I looked around for him, he was near the kitchen window talking. After, he was very disengaged with us -as if we were a burden. I enjoy this place, but it will be a while before I decide to go back
The service was very good. My husband had a gluten free pasta dish which he said was very good. I had the roasted chicken with potatoes. I was disappointed that the chicken was over-cooked and dry with little flavor. The potatoes also lacked flavor and the portion was quite small.
I had one of the shrimp dishes and although the pasta had flavor, the shrimp did not. Two others in our group had the same thing and felt the same way. Our waiter was very kind however he forgot one of the adult beverages for one of us and didn't bring out one of our two appetizers claiming that he thought we were just talking about it and not ordering it. However, it was clear that we ordered two appetizers. I had eaten at Brio before and had a better experience. Had this been my only one, I wouldn't go back but I will likely try it one more time at some point to see if that was just a fluke experience.
somehow the food at this place never seems to disappoint. We go and give it a try every year because it's got a nice location on the plaza and the interior looks nice, but it always features soggy flavorless pasta, wilted salads, slow service. and is overpriced.
It was probably some of the worst service I’ve ever had. She checked on us maybe once. I don’t know if she was having a bad day or just lazy.
My friend and I had a nice meal with fabulous service. Our waitress, Brooklyn, really took good care of us.
The Salmon entree I loved was no longer on the menu.
The new Salmon entree wasn’t as good.
We were disappointed to see Chicken Limone had been removed from the menu. We were celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday, and it was her favorite item on the menu, and mine as well. However, the server we had on this particular night was so fun and entertaining that we felt she more than made up for the disappointment! Our food was great and atmosphere is wonderful, just might consider putting this wonderful dish back on the menu so we will come more often!
Not really pleased with the menu change. Several of my favorites are gone. Too many dishes that are very similar.
Our waiter was great. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. One of the best wait staff we have had in the last couple of years.
Great location and the food was amazing
Our server Marvin was excellent! But the hostess was rude and wouldn’t let my mom sit down until the whole party was there, even though she was standing with a cane and in obvious pain - and there was a room full of empty tables.
It was the perfect spot for my Krew to bring in the New Year!
We really enjoyed our NYE at Brio. The food was excellent, everything came out in a timely fashion (for a group of 12) and our server made the experience that much better. The food is great as are the cocktails and wine options. Love the dimmed lighting and vibe of this restaurant. We'll be back.
We went to Brio for an early New Year’s Eve dinner. At first we were about to be seated near the kitchen, but we requested a quieter area.
The food and service were very good. I only asked to replace a vodka martini as it was not prepared the way I requested. Otherwise we enjoyed our meal.
Made reservations for 10 about 2 months in advance. Changed the reservations to 8. When we arrived, the restaurant was not at all busy. Our table was not ready and when we were finally seated, it was set for the original number. I asked that 2 place settings be removed, but they never were. We waited for a very long time to be served considering how empty the restaurant was. Food was sub par.
I has the best server! Brooklyn was amazing! So friendly and kind, helped make an awkward first date so much better! If you go to Brio, ask for Brooklyn, she will make the night better!
Just didn't wow me. They have a new menu but didn't have anything so good that I have to come back to have it again. Just wasn't impressed with the food. The drinks and service was top notch and made it a better experience. But would not recommend it to my friends.
Good food but poor service
My Husband and I enjoyed a Christmas Eve dinner at Brio this year. Our waiter was very friendly and upbeat. I ordered Lasagna which was absolutely delicious! My Husband had a filet medium well, he said it was cooked perfectly. The bartender made us a couple of very thick not overly strong Rum Pina Coladas, it was almost like drinking a shake. I highly recommend Brio!!
We eat at the Brio every Christmas Eve and were really disappointed at the new menu. The quality of food seems a few steps below prior years and we have been coming for many many years. The service was great and we love the atmosphere but not enough to overcome the balance of the quality of food and price.
