Brine Seafood Shack
The culinary team at Brine follows the sustainable practices outlined by the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch, the nonprofit dedicated to empower consumers and restaurants to make choices that result in healthy oceans. Much of the seafood will be geo-tagged so Brine chefs know precisely where the fish was caught, down to the captain's name and boat.
Made reservations for the family including handicapped visitor from out of town. We parked in the parking garage deck and finally made our way to Bruyne, the door was locked, lights were off, tables and chairs were all stacked and moved over to the side. Looked like Brine at Avalon was out of business. Wish the times have been blocked, or that the restaurant or OpenTable had notified me that they were not in business so we could have made an alternate reservation . Very disappointed
Restraint was closed even though I received confirmations.
Try staying OPEN!!! ... NOT CLOSED for ALL business!!!
The restaurant is CLOSED down!!! They didn’t even the decency to update their medial outlets!!! We arrived only to find them closed, sign down, lights out!! On a Saturday night!!!
This restaurant is permanently closed. Your website should have known this! We had to go to another restaurant and wait an hour and a half because we had no reservation!
The restaurant has closed......
Restaurant is CLOSED!
Made reservations two weeks ago for Brine (another Marc Taft restaurant) for a birthday dinner (for 5) for May15 at 7pm. Called 15 minutes ahead of time to let them know we'd be about 10 minutes late (the 470-226-2190 number listed on the site). Lady answered, told us that was fine and thanked us for calling. We arrive only to find out that the restaurant is permanently closed. Chairs and tables stacked up on the side. No notification on the door. So, we called the number again. This time it gives the “Mailbox is full” message. We were speechless. They had our contact information. They could have called us, emailed us, etc.. but choose not to do so. Instead, they choose to ruin a birthday dinner. Fast forward to this morning (the 16th). See an article in the AJC that Brine declared bankruptcy on May 12th. I understand that “things” happen, however, in my mind, this makes it even worse. They knew three days ahead of time and purposely chose not to inform their customers. Brine is owned by MTF Restaurant Group (Marc Taft), which also owns Feed Fried Chicken, Best Burger and Chicken and the Egg (Marietta). Just want to let everyone know that Marc Taft clearly does not care about his customers. I would be extra cautious prior to eating at one of his restaurants.
The tale of two restaurants in one. Food was delicious - but service disappeared after taking the order. The runner delivered the food in a reasonable time but don't look for any more drinks. A sympathetic waitress noticed our plight and brought more water...I got up myself and got refills from the drink fountain. You get the idea. The benefits of what must be consistently poor service from this restaurant is it's one of the easiest places at Avalon to get seated, and the food is consistently good. But if you're looking for attentive service standard elsewhere in Avalon... you'll have to join the queue at the other restaurants.
Service was great. Our server was attentive and the table outside was nice. The food was good, quality ingredients, but the food was a bit plain/simple. (This may have been our fault for not choosing fried items.) Unfortunately, Avalon has become a cruising site (?!) At least 15 cars with incredibly loud exhausts drove past our table. Not sure when that happened but it made sitting outside very irritating.
Service was excellent, sat on rooftop which is lovely, fish and chips highly recommended, fish tacos too! Definately will return.
Great food and atmosphere. Service was extremely poor
Service was slow but they gave us a free dessert so it was nice it was acknowledged
Great food and service! Was pleasantly surprised to find my new favorite seafood spot in Alpharetta. Price points are reasonable. We sprung for the lobster roll and lobster Mac. My side of brussel sprouts was phenomenal.
Not the most comfortable chairs, but food was good and reasonably priced. Fairly noisy- why do restaurant designers love industrial so much? No textiles to help absorb sound.
I LOVE this place! Some of the best seafood I’ve ever had and the service was amazing! I can’t wait to go back.
The hush puppies are outstanding. I’ve never liked them until now. Of course everything we ordered was great but that stood out the most since I’ve never liked them until now; we’ll ONLY at Brine.
Mid-afternoon lunch on their patio. Fish tacos and fries were excellent. Attentive service. I plan to return!
We enjoyed this place for a casual seafood lunch. I had a Mahi sandwich that was delicious, moist, cooked to perfection. I thought it was a little pricey at 20 dollars with only one side. The Mahi tacos were good too only they could stand to have more fish in them.
Brine, was just ok. Nothing to write home about. Our server though she was training she was very personable and professional. My wife and I started with soups. The clam chowder and the lobster bisque. Both good not great. My wife ordered the shrimp skewers with rice which came to the table cold. The dish was remade but was over cooked the second time which gives shrimp a rubber texture. Decided not to eat and taken off bill. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with crab. Was just ok the bacon was a bit over cooked a little too done. My salad with their house dressing was good. I was expecting more from Brine going by their Open Table score. Sorry to say this will be a first and last visit.
We had a good time, enjoyed the food a lot. A little pricey but worth it because there are not a lot of seafood restaurants in the area! We will go back.
Service was wonderful, the food was very tasty with good sized portions, and the cocktails were creative and refreshing
had fish taco"s maybe 1oz of fish on each taco. Broccoli side was raw.
We sat outside so noise level was moderate. But our cocktails and food were delicious. Service was prompt and friendly.
Great atmosphere and great location, right in the middle of Avalon! Food and service were perfect! Highly recommend!
While the food was decent, the service was a struggle. The hostess didn't recognize that we had a reservation. They sat us at the only table without utensils which we asked 5 times for. The appetizers that my husband ordered arrived after the meals because the server never put the order in. I never received the glass of wine that I ordered. Our water glasses were never refilled...and they were tiny glasses. We would ask and it was a crap shoot on whether or not they would get refilled. Overall, it was quite a frustrating experience and I do not believe we will be back.
We have eaten at Brine many times and it has always been consistently good, not so much this time. The service was incredibly slow. We waited 30 minutes to receive our oysters on the half shell. We were told that the restaurant was swamped from 3-6 that day and the kitchen couldn't get caught up. It was 7:00 when we sat down and the restaurant was only half full, so not sure why the kitchen was still backed up. My husband had to spit one oyster out as he said it was a spoiled one. We told our waiter, Brian about it and my husband asked him to replace the one bad one. My husband asked 3 times for the replacement and never received it. Then it was another 30 minutes before we got our meals. We finally asked that the one bad oyster be removed from our bill, but it wasn't. As much as we liked Brines previously, we will not be going back anytime soon. The food did not seem as good as on previous occasions.
Food was great and the price was reasonable.
Outdoor seating, oysters and service were amazing!
Restaurant was busy but got seated right away with my reservation. Level of service was good and presentation and quality of meal was excellent. I will go again. If you are looking for a quiet and romantic restaurant this is not for you.
The food was good, there service was just ok and way too fast. This was the second time I visited and both times the entree was served before we were done with our appetizer.
The service was good. The food was average not anything special. We would go back for drinks and/or appetizers but pass on dinner.
Food was adequate...not much of a variety. Cool vibe but very noisy.
Food was excellent and staff was helpful and friendly. Seating is very close to you neighbor and noise level is high. Overall a very pleasant experience. We will be back !
Great selection of oysters on the half-shell, and always enjoy the sparking Pino Noir
Great place too have a late Valentines Day dinner.
Brine has the friendliest people working there that I have come across in some time. Everyone was pleasant and all said hello in passing, held doors, etc...I enjoyed all the staff here.
We sat outside on the patio because it was a delightful warm evening. Service was excellent of course.
Started with crab cakes, and finished with fish tacos. All good and filling, nothing overly fancy. Creamy shells were a good side accompaniment.
Outdoor seating on the upstairs patio during sunset was the real winner of this restaurant. Drinks were fantastic. Food was decent but nothing special or memorable. Will do again and again for the patio and drinks.
