So so good and the server was amazing! I loved the food and the drinks
The innovative, interesting and delicious food at the Brim House will definitely bring us back. Our hats off to the chef! The atmosphere is wonderful, the restaurant was clean and inviting.
The two problems I had were: We visited on Christmas morning. From out of town, we logged on to Toledo websites to see what was open Christmas day. There was a link to the Christmas Brunch at the Renaissance Hotel. We quickly snapped up reservations, but upon arrival, there was no brunch. Just breakfast. The maitre d' thinks it may have been a corporate ad. The breakfast was delicious, and worth repeat visit, but still...a surprise. Second hitch in the giddy-up was there was only one single waitress for the entire restaurant. We get it. Help is hard to find, it's not the waitress's fault, the maitre d' tried to help, but bottom line, the atmosphere was tense as customers were straining to look for one waitress during our entire meal. She did a great job of trying to keep up, as did Katie the maitre d' and Liliana, her hostess, but it was way, way too much for her to handle. she was perspiring, stressed and was working as fast as she could. Brim House should have paid someone double or triple to show up to help, made a brunch instead of plated food or re-thought opening the restaurant at all, in my opinion. Bottom Line: I will go back--no, I look FORWARD to going back.
The service was very good despite being short staffed. Our waitress apologized and was helpful. We were in no hurry so we relaxed and enjoyed the view. I had the Toledo hash and eggs which was terrible. Big chunks of smoked sausage, few potatoes, greasy and did not resemble hash at all. Another guest had bananas foster pancakes which she felt were excessively sweet. Husband had scrambled eggs, sausage and toast were average. We had been to Brim House in the past for brunch which was excellent so we have to admit that this was disappointing. Would not recommend if food remained the same.
We celebrated our 4 year anniversary Christmas Eve and it was beautiful and delicious and very special. Our service was so pleasant and sweet and they gave us the most gorgeous Crème brûlée complimentary for celebrating with them. Everything was perfect and our evening was extra special thanks to the whole Brim House Team and we are so grateful.
Christmas Eve dinner was amazing. A special menu for a special occasion and it delivered. From beginning to end, excellent.
This was our second time staying at the Hotel and going to the restaurant in the days leading up to Christmas. The first time we went the food and service were not good at all. The current menu is somewhat limit, but our food and service were both excellent. We had a very intimate table at the back with a river view and overall really enjoyed the experience.
The service and the food at Brim House was excellent. The smoked old fashioned was a great drink
The service in was top notch. Very informative about menu and suggestions were spot on. Drinks were exceptional, with a unique flare. Definitely would recommend for drinks and dinner.
Chef has southern food influence in the dishes. Yum.
Seated a few minutes before our reservation time. Waitress knowledgeable.
I was not seated until about 45 minutes after my scheduled reservation time. Took about 20 minutes to get a cocktail from the bar. The server was not aware that they were assigned to our table.
Food was otherwise good and staff was very kind and apologetic. I just hope this experience was a one time thing.
Great service and food! Got in and out quickly before a concert!
Impressive food. We loved the appetizers, especially the pork belly and Mac Waffle!
Went for a special, leisurely meal and that’s what we got. Going at 5 pm we were the only table for a good part of our meal. No let downs on any of the food, very attentive service. Love the ambiance
Great food, comfortable atmosphere and Vee our server was excellent!
My family had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner. The noise level was low allowing for conversation and the food was a traditional feast.
Great food and service.
Food was wonderful & we were seated right away. The service was very slow and we could tell the staff was short handed. Noise level was quite loud and disruptive.
I took my husband here for his 60th. Birthday dinner, the food was not so good unfortunately. The menu looked so appetizing. His lamb was tuff, the smoked collards were very very oily, which made my stomach turn later. Service was very good and the environment was awesome! Maybe we didn't order the right things, so I will give it another try later though, still can't get that oily taste outta my head. I did state that to our server, he apologized, also ordered a green tomato appetizer, and it was ripe red tomatoes, which the servers reply was, I guess they didn't get their order in for green tomatoes. Really??
My only complaint ( aside from the waitress bully sitting at the table next to us before meal) is that it was our anniversary and I had asked for seats with river view.
Fabulous meal and fabulous service! Would come back again for another date night.
Disappointing at best. When i made the reservation I indicated this was for a birthday. Nothing special was done, the host asked, but that was it. Why ask if you’re not going to do anything with it?? At least 2 entrees arrived cold, one was late. Food was mediocre at best. It’s like the chef is trying too hard to cram every ingredient and flavor into every dish. A couple sides were inedible. Won’t be back anytime soon.
Came here for my significant other’s birthday & they gave us a dessert of of choice for their birthday.
Server was super nice and attentive but there wasn’t any host (?) overall experience was good.
Had it been to the Brim In a year. Food was ok - on a Wednesday night out of two fish dishes and pork chop entrees - service was very slow and some served dishes were warm at best. Won’t be hurrying back anytime soon.
Nicki was excellent, she was very knowledgeable of the menu and the recent fresh options. The rest of the staff was excellent and friendly as well.
We had a wonderful first time experience at Brim House. We will definitely return.
It was our daughter’s birthday.
One if the best Ribeyes and New York Strip in town by far
Food choices were very limited. No seafood as out of mussels. Way over priced.
The food was not what we expected. The cherry smoked pork chop was completely overwhelmed by cherry smoke and didn’t taste like a pork chop. It was also overcooked. The collard greens were baked or fried, not what I would expect on a Southern style menu. Overall, I would not return.
Service was excellent.
two of us had the raw oysters. We both had shell remnants in all of the oysters. We ordered a bottle of moderately priced wine and the waitress proceeded to poor all of the glasses without asking if anyone wanted to taste it first, and poured the wine glasses over half full. I ordered what I thought was red snapper, but it had a distinct odor and flavor, so I was highly suspicious of it being a substitute that they tried to cover with a generous amount of seasonings. Having eaten red snapper frequently I am very suspicious of what I was served . My other guests found the lamb and halibut very satisfactory.
Food was good but service was very slow.
Unlikely that we will return.
Mediocre overall experience.
We had a wonderful experience at the Brim House! The food was great and the service was outstanding! It’s a spot that you need to try if you’re in Toledo!
Celebrated our 31 anniversary with friends. Food and drink excellent
Lovely views of the river and a welcome addition of southern style cooking well prepared.
Fantastic food and service! Vi was a wonderful addition to our meal!
The waitress Sidney did a fantastic job! She explained the meals and made sure we didn't need anything.
The food was prepared to perfection. Our server Dean was excellent. He made appetizer selections that were very good. Overall dinner was very good.
Very friendly staff . My husbands beef could have been warmer & our drinks were very late arriving. We had our appetizers before cocktails were served. Food flavor & presentation were wonderful. Would have rated experience a 5 star had it not been for the above issues.
New chef with excellent food!! Southern inspired dishes. Really outstanding food! Dessert was not great. Pound cake nothing like pound cake. Bland and dry. Not buttery and moist like expected. Other desserts better.
