Fabulous meal and fabulous service! Would come back again for another date night.
Disappointing at best. When i made the reservation I indicated this was for a birthday. Nothing special was done, the host asked, but that was it. Why ask if you’re not going to do anything with it?? At least 2 entrees arrived cold, one was late. Food was mediocre at best. It’s like the chef is trying too hard to cram every ingredient and flavor into every dish. A couple sides were inedible. Won’t be back anytime soon.
Came here for my significant other’s birthday & they gave us a dessert of of choice for their birthday.
Server was super nice and attentive but there wasn’t any host (?) overall experience was good.
Had it been to the Brim In a year. Food was ok - on a Wednesday night out of two fish dishes and pork chop entrees - service was very slow and some served dishes were warm at best. Won’t be hurrying back anytime soon.
Nicki was excellent, she was very knowledgeable of the menu and the recent fresh options. The rest of the staff was excellent and friendly as well.
We had a wonderful first time experience at Brim House. We will definitely return.
It was our daughter’s birthday.
One if the best Ribeyes and New York Strip in town by far
Food choices were very limited. No seafood as out of mussels. Way over priced.
The food was not what we expected. The cherry smoked pork chop was completely overwhelmed by cherry smoke and didn’t taste like a pork chop. It was also overcooked. The collard greens were baked or fried, not what I would expect on a Southern style menu. Overall, I would not return.
Service was excellent.
two of us had the raw oysters. We both had shell remnants in all of the oysters. We ordered a bottle of moderately priced wine and the waitress proceeded to poor all of the glasses without asking if anyone wanted to taste it first, and poured the wine glasses over half full. I ordered what I thought was red snapper, but it had a distinct odor and flavor, so I was highly suspicious of it being a substitute that they tried to cover with a generous amount of seasonings. Having eaten red snapper frequently I am very suspicious of what I was served . My other guests found the lamb and halibut very satisfactory.
Food was good but service was very slow.
Unlikely that we will return.
Mediocre overall experience.
We had a wonderful experience at the Brim House! The food was great and the service was outstanding! It’s a spot that you need to try if you’re in Toledo!
Celebrated our 31 anniversary with friends. Food and drink excellent
Lovely views of the river and a welcome addition of southern style cooking well prepared.
Fantastic food and service! Vi was a wonderful addition to our meal!
The waitress Sidney did a fantastic job! She explained the meals and made sure we didn't need anything.
The food was prepared to perfection. Our server Dean was excellent. He made appetizer selections that were very good. Overall dinner was very good.
Very friendly staff . My husbands beef could have been warmer & our drinks were very late arriving. We had our appetizers before cocktails were served. Food flavor & presentation were wonderful. Would have rated experience a 5 star had it not been for the above issues.
New chef with excellent food!! Southern inspired dishes. Really outstanding food! Dessert was not great. Pound cake nothing like pound cake. Bland and dry. Not buttery and moist like expected. Other desserts better.
Everything was great. Not too crowded, excellent view, good service, even got a complimentary appetizer. The only complaint I have is the bathroom was so far away from the eating area.
We thought prices were very high and selection was low. My main objection was that the dish I got was not as it was described on the menu. I got the fried chicken cordon bleu. It was supposed to have ham on the inside, I thought the collards would be steamed, they were crunchy and there was no coffee gravy as billed on the menu. It was cooked well, except a little burnt on the fry, and was tasty. The wait staff was excellent as were the views.
I had been waiting for Brim House to reopen since COVID. We did something different this time and ordered all of the starters as our meal instead of getting main entrees. We loved it! It was so fun. The food at Brim House is second to none!
This place is perfect from the food you eat, to the view you see
Great food 🥘 The team was well impressed by her dinner I will hesitate to go back in the future
Well, I went there expecting a meal from Chef Lawson and found out he had moved on. I was hoping that the new chef would be as good, but...
I ordered scallops which were good 3 for $32
For this price you expect a dish bursting with flavor but noway
While the scallops were good and well cooked everything else was very blah
The avocado and whipped egg added no flavor to the scallops and the little popcorn was a joke.
My wife had walleye - same experience
So two dinners and two proceccis for $100 and then We had to pay $10 for parking 😀
A joke right?
I should have read other reviews but I knew chef Lawson and was expecting the great meals we always had with him as Chef
Oh well, it is a beautiful and romantic ambieance and the waitress and help were great
Just really diappointed in the tastefulness of the Chefs dishes
For the price and reputation of the Hotel brand, I was surprisingly disappointed.
The food was fantastic. Great atmosphere! Great food choice.
It's just ok. I'd rather spend my money someplace else. Dont get me wrong.... it's not bad, just meh... like soooo many others
Food was fine but not worth the prices on the menu.
Great overall. However, nowhere to park and need to valet for $10. Really the only downside.
We enjoyed the restaurant week special - the shrimp & grits appetizer would be a welcomed regular menu item and was simply fabulous. The scallop entree was tasty too
My wife and I had never been to the Brim House and thought we would give it a try during Restaurant Week in Toledo. It was just average in every aspect: service, quality of food, value of meal based on what we paid, etc. My wife commented as we left, “typical meal that you would have in the restaurant of a nice hotel”. There are a lot of fantastic places to eat within walking distance of the Renaissance Hotel, but if you were staying at the hotel and didn’t feel like taking a walk, the Brim House would be fine.
Such a disappointment. We have been staying at this hotel for 3 years and this restaurant is a favorite for our family. I’m not sure if it’s under New management or not but our service was terrible - I had made a reservation because it is always packed - we were the only ones in there on a busy sat night. The food was nothing like it used to be and the waitress had no idea what each dish was. It has lost a lot of class and the food is average at best
Although pricey, Brim House was delicious. Service a bit slow but they accommodated our group without hesitation and we were not in any rush.
This is the second year that my husband and I chose Brim house for Valentines Day dinner, last year dinner and atmosphere was amazing, the food was something I talked about for months, this year was the polar opposite. We decided that it would be an experience to try the Valentine’s Day meal with wine pairing which was the worst mistake we ever made. Our salads never showed up, the waiter said “you might want to eat your meal while it’s still hot,so I’ll just box the salad for you.” On to the main course which was a filet and tempura lobster. The filet was the texture and size of a breakfast steak, already cold and with no flavor. The tempura lobster wasn’t far off. Honestly we could have had a better meal at any neighborhood Denny’s without the 250.00 price tag. We will not be back.
Great food and service including the valet parking. Short ribs were perfectly done, could have used one more. Crab and corn dish was an adventurous choice that was rewarded. Nice balance of flavors, a delightful surprise. 2 very good dinners and a good bottle of wine for $100. Will do it again.
Amazing experience for Valentines Day Brunch! We love their breakfast especially their croissants!! We’ll definitely be back!
I was very disappointed in the Avocado toast. It did not meet the description on the menu at all, and was very poor in terms of quality and quantity at a price of 13 dollars. I received a single slice of toast covered with what was clearly store bought and runny “guacamole” if you can call it that. It was topped with two teeny and overcooked eggs. For 13 bucks, I expected fresh avocado and properly cooked eggs . First Watch does it way better for far less. At least the coffee was amazing.
First Class ambiance, great view of the Maumee river, the food was outstanding and the price was respectable for the service and presentation offered. You will not be let down here.
Very good experience. First time there.
