Bridges Wine Bar
Sometimes one good idea leads to another. Such is the case with Bridges. With the success of Music on the Square, we began imagining what could happen next. The location next door (19 North Indiana) was up for sale, so we bought it and began thinking of what would be complementary. We started imagining Bridges as a wine bar offering interesting wines to Greencastle. But we soon added a wood burning pizza oven from Italy and more of a restaurant evolved. Ultimately, the idea of Bridges Wine Bar was born. The basement has become a private dining room called The Cellar, an open terrace area on top of the building, which will be used in nice weather, called The Rooftop, and there will be three fully furnished rental apartments which we call The Lofts at Bridges.
We hope you will like our addition to the Square of Greencastle.
Always fantastic. We love all of the starters. Had the squid ink pasta and absolutely loved it. Husband had the steak that was on the menu and it was fabulous. Thank you!
Loved the server! Very attentive, knowledgable and conversational. The food was lovely, as it always is.
Great restaurant. Suggest you have more sides for entrees, such as vegetables...
But 100% will be back.
We are always happy to eat at Bridges whenever we are in the area. The food is consistently excellent and the service is always friendly and timed perfectly. We especially enjoyed the kale salad, the spaghettini and the macaroni and cheese (to die for!) on our most recent visit. We will definitely be back and will look forward to it!
Always enjoy our getaway to Bridges!
Date With husband - we had the best waitress!
Being familiar with Bridges, we had difficulty finding the "correct" front door. Hostess told us that complaints about drafts required them to move it to side door. We were taken downstairs to the cellar for our table. I thought that it was for parties, etc. We were seated next to a large group celebrating a birthday...very loud. Noise seemed to bounce off the concrete floors, making it difficult to have conversation at our table. The lighting was quite dim so the candle at the table was a must have. Food was good, and our server was very personable. I will go back, but definitely am not dining in the cellar!
Food options are somewhat unique as the menu changes frequently. Everyone we have taken there enjoys the food and service has always been good. I enjoy going down to the cellar on weekends because it is quieter and a more intimate setting. Soups that I have tasted have been outstanding. Wines are good but expensive. Brick oven pizzas to share for two are the best value; they are very thin crust. Menu options are very limited, but what they serve is always very good. A non pizza entree, with soup, wine and dessert gets very expensive (last bill with 20% tip was $165 for two).
Great service, ambiance and even better food!!
James was great!
Very nice ambience but poor customer service. I ordered puttanesca, which is a traditional Italian dish with black olives and capers, so didn’t think to read ingredients because I make it all the time. The dish that came was all onions and sausage! When I asked the server why they put meat in a traditional vegetarian dish, she had no clue. I sent the dish back and just asked for a salad. To my surprise, when the bill came, I was charged for both! In all my years of working in the restaurant business, I never charged a customer for a meal they did not eat. Needless to say, I will not be returning.
I eat here once a week and the food is consistently high quality with polite and courteous staff and management. I enjoy fine dining across the US and abroad, I am thankful that within minutes of my house I can dine at a restaurant that is as enjoyable as any I have ever dined.
Great service and the food was delicious
So glad this is a part of the Greencastle community! Perfect place to celebrate birthdays and a night with friends! The Wedge salad is missed. Good wine selections or reasonable prices.
Great place to bring out of town guests. They were impressed
Outstanding dinner a few nights ago. Food was excellent, atmosphere was great and service was wonderful. We will be back soon.
My pasta entrée was very flavorful, but the portion was very small. This was OK for me, but many diners would find it not filling. My husband's pizza was large and flavorful. The bananas foster dessert was tasty, but there was very little actual banana in it. Our server was friendly but not attentive. Our only real complaint is that the dining room was VERY COLD. We were fully dressed in jeans and long sleeves, but we had to fetch and put on wool and down vests which we had left in the car.
Great Food & Wine!! Love this place, has a great atmosphere.
Excellent food every time. Very talented chef, kitchen and staff. Small menu, changes frequently. Reservations highly recommended.
We were in town for parent’s weekend at DePauw. Bridges is a great addition to dinner options. Unfortunately, getting a reservation was difficult so we had 2 high tops in the bar area for 3 people, It wasn’t the best option but as the only option it was fine. Food was great, food service was quite slow but our server was apologetic. We will be back. I would suggest reservations in advance when DePauw events are happening.
They gave our reservations away. Seated us 45 mins later then no one even came to the table for 30 minutes to even get a drink order so we left
Always the best place in Greencastle for dinner. The hospitality was exceptional and they did a great job of serving our table of 3, plus our infant daughter, which can be a concern at such a fine dining establishment as this. The food is incredible, and we loved the Wise guy pizza with Bacon Jam and Prosciutto, and the Funghi, with balsamic and mushrooms. So tasty.
There was a great atmosphere and very good pasta & pizza. Service was provided at a very relaxed pace, which was either intentional or due to how busy they were, but it made for an enjoyably paced meal. If I found myself in the area again, I would not hesitate to return.
Delicious food! We had the margharita pizza and the chicken marsala pasta... Soooo good! Our server was excellent!
While it was initially disappointing not to be seated on the main level, we were able to hear better downstairs in the wine cellar. We were having such a wonderful time we were surprised when we were asked to vacate the table for the next round of guests after two hours. We were taking our newly widowed neighbor out for her birthday. The food and service were marvelous! We will return......
It was great. Portions are small but food is good.
Super cute, good food, nice wine list
Love the lobster roll and the melon salad!!! Try it
What a gem! The food is amazing and the choices of wine are just wonderful! Absolutely love Bridges!
Bridges has quickly become the best restaurant in the Indy area. Excellent winelist, inventive dishes and absolutely the best staff and service.
We enjoyed it. Will definitely go again and will suggest it to others.
Food and atmosphere is unique and wonderful! Pizza and kale salad were yummy!
Everything was wonderful. The food is fantastic and the servers/bartenders are great. It’s a little pricey, but I think it’s worth every penny.
Every time I have been to Bridges the meal and service has been fantastic. From Pizza to pasta to wines everything is always top notch. A gem in Greencastle.
We came from Terre Haute with another couple for our first visit. It was delightful from beginning to end...great food, nice surrounds and informative and pleasant serving staff.
All in all, a GREAT experience. We will absolutely be back again!
As always, everything was perfect! Still my favorite place to go...;-)
A little gem in the heart of a small town! Excellent food served in a wonderfully warm atmosphere with every attention to detail.
Always enjoyable. Fabulous service and the food is phenomenal
Whenever we take our son or daughter back to DePauw we make a reservation at Bridges. We're thrilled that there is more than one great restaurant to eat in Greencastle. We love the pizzas...all of them are unique and delicious. Just this past weekend when we took our daughter back, we felt that the overall menu was a bit lacking....there was one steak to choose from (rib eye), no fish options and very few other meat dishes. Being a diabetic, I tend to gravitate toward fish, or chicken or pork. I hope this was just a "one time" experience. Service was great...we were seated in the basement Wine Cellar, so the noise level was a bit loud. We will definitely be back.
