Brick River Cider Co
Used Open table to reserve a table, but no table was set aside for us—it was a “seat yourself” kind of place. No big deal. However that in combination with the slow service made it not a place we could confidently dind with the time constraint we had. There was only one server in the front area who was hustling, but it was simply too crowded for the level of staffing. We tried some ciders which were amazing and would have loved to try more and order food, but it was just not going to work out. Bummer!
Ambiance not the best. Food was delicious.
this place is a real find. great choices on the menu, all kinds of gluten free--even grilled cheese--it was awesome! loved the cider too! We will come back to this place--even though a bit out of the way for us.
This place is great. The cider was a pleasant surprise. I recommend the Parmesan fries.
We had a great time at Brick River. we were celebrating a birthday and the staff certainly made the "birthday girl" feel special. The food was fabulous. I had the Peasant Pie and it was delicious. The portions were perfect. The wait staff was very accommodating and friendly. It was a great experience and we will go back again.
Pros:
First time at a cidery. Server was knowledgeable about cider and food menu. She was also very attentive.
Food was great! Lots of interesting options to make me come back and try them.
Cons:
it was too dark to read the menu where we were sitting.
We came here for my thirtith birthday for Sunday lunch! We had a great experience. We had a large party 20+ the waitresses running our tables were very attentive and we had people coming and going and they were able to keep up and track of what was happening. The food was GREAT!! I will definitely be back!!
Service was very slow. Complete menu items not available. Short staffed on the day we went. Maybe service is normally better. Flatbreads were good. Other items for entrees were not. Cider flights were interesting but signature cocktail not available!
Great service and very accommodating of a large group on a tight schedule.
Food and drink were top notch. Service was a bit slow, but I believe there was only 1 server working, and it is a small space. Not a deal-breaker, just good to know going in that you'll probably be there at least an hour minimum.
The cider choices were great. Our server, Katie on her first day, provided great service and wonderful advice. I had the flatbread and it was very disappointing.
Terrible service and we weren’t asked how we wanted our burgers cooked. Waited over 30 mins for our food and then another 30 mins for our check. Our server apparently quit during our dinner. We were not offered any compensation for the wait or poor service.
Ambiance great, staff very helpful, interactive and pleasant. Cider tastes great.
Enjoy supporting a local!
Took an hour to get our food, and still hadn’t received all of our food. We had to get it part of it to go.
Ciders were great. Everything else really was sub par
I would definitely say give it a try. I was curious about the Hard Ciders. I tried them all and liked one. Someone else may find them all good. The building is unique. The staff was friendly and the service was good. It wasn't really a busy night upon arrival. It did get a little busier and it did not affect our service. The Fish and chips were good and the portions were adequate. I ordered a side of Asparagus and they were perfect! My friend had the Meatloaf. It was a hearty portion and he enjoyed it although the gravy was a little on the salty side. I tried his as well and agreed. All in all it was a good experience. Dinner for two with a couple of drinks and a 20% gratuity was 70.00
We had a wonderful relaxed dinner with another couple. We were able to have great conversation in a comfortable setting. The food was excellent. We had the cheese plate, wings, fries, rissoto, burger, mushroom soup and Brussels sprouts salad and they were all fantastic. I think the mushroom soup had a bit too much Thyme in it but was otherwise great. We all enjoyed the cheese plate even with our diversity in flavor preferences. We will be back!
Nothing short of amazing! Great food, refreshing cider and fantastic service. The perfect trifecta!
The weather was nice and breezy, so the open air feel with the old firehouse door open, was really great. Food was good, and the cider was amazing. Will definitely be back
We had a party of 9 and were seated upstairs, even though there appeared to be space downstairs. There were only 2 other tables of 2 seated there. No music was playing and the ambiance lacked a little something. The food was good. Our group wasn’t a fan of the majority of the ciders, but that could be personal preference. Service was very slow and drinks and food were brought out at different times. It seemed a bit unorganized. For example, two of us ordered the pulled pork. The waitress came back after leaving to enter the orders and told us that they were out of pork, so the pulled pork orders picked something else, then 5 minutes later the waitress returned to say that the computer was wrong so she went back to the original orders. Maybe it was an off night, but even though the food was good, I’m not sure I’d recommend this restaurant.
Try the Firehouse Martini.
we were great with friendly staff and the wait time for our food wasnt long ..
waiter was friendly.. would come here again.. Gluten Free food on the Menu was a plus
I can't say enough good things! I came here for a birthday celebration with a few friends, and we had the best time. Our server, Molly, was a delight and took such good care of us throughout the evening. The ciders were great, and the cider cocktails were shockingly delicious - yes, we tried everything! Through rounds of appetizers, salads, entrees, and dessert, not a single bad bite of food came across our table. Everything was scrumptious! The dining room can get quite loud when it's full, but that's my only minor complaint. I look forward to our next visit!
We made reservations and still waited to be seated despite many open tables on the floor above. The host/hostess had disappeared. The service prior to being seated needs improvement. Once seated, the table service was much better. The food very good. The atmosphere is quaint.
Cute little place, the homestead cider is probably the best I've ever had. Easy menu, wish I lived nearer to go back and try more. I've never been to St. Louis before, and this place was a nice surprise.
We had a very large group (15) and last minute on a Saturday night needed a reservation and they totally accommodated us!!! So very nice!!!
This is an old firehouse, changed it on a nice place that makes their own cider.
Great place. Ver friendly staff.
Great cider and food in a wonderful rehabbed space
Food was great. Better than expected. This was our first time trying cider. It was very good. Definitely a place we will try again
Little noisy to begin with but then it quieted down. Really enjoyed the various ciders and the unique menu. Will return.
This was our first visit. Server was OK, explained about the ciders. Small menu, but food was good. Restaurant space is small.
We've been a few times. The first time the food was great but just good the other times. There are some interesting dishes on the menu and many vegetarian/healthy dishes which is nice. The wait staff does not seem to be experienced or particularly friendly. I love the cider but there are only a few varieties. The atmosphere needs work - the lighting is odd, the upstairs room is loud and sparse; you're in the upstairs of a fire house and it feels like you're in the upstairs of a fire house. I hope they work out the kinks and are successful especially since it's the only cider establishment around.
We were so excited to try a new place on Washington! For a Saturday night (and a holiday weekend) they were just the right amount of busy. We were seated immediately upstairs, which is more suited for dining. Downstairs will be great when stopping by just for drinks. The food was amazing, although I was slightly surprised by the small size of the risotto entree. But its deliciousness made up for it! Cider flights were great, as was the featured mixed drink “ciderita”, although we all wished there were more ciders to choose from. Our only complaint was that our server seemed uncomfortable, awkward, and hesitant. She was polite and prompt, but unsure of some questions we had and seemed as though this was her first or second night serving. Maybe hire some experienced employees to come alongside those who aren’t quite ready yet and help them gain confidence. Regardless, we knew this was a soft opening time, so we will definitely be back!
Definitely will go back. Great for gluten-free people!
My husband and I both loved this place and will definitely go back.
Hot new spot. Menu is developing. The crab cakes just added as an appetizer...phenomenal! Good cider tasting tray, although the new ones suck, the two originals rock!
Excellent addition to the Washington Loft District. Very attractive space in vintage firehouse. Lower level bar area with restaurant seating upstairs. House-brewed ciders were excellent; local craft brewed beer also offered, plus cider cocktails. Menu was varied with choices for carnivores and herbivores alike. Food was well prepared and tasty, and service was excellent.
We joined friends at this spot which opened just a week ago. Loved it! They have one amazing things with the building that is an old fire house. It is charming, spacious and the food is terrific. Great service m, too. Can’t wait to go back!
I love apple ciders and really enjoyed the flight for sampling the various choices available. As a vegetarian I was pleasantly surprised with the menu. While it is a limited menu, there are a variety of unusual options, and good vegetarian options, especially if you love mushrooms (which I do!).
Very fun night with good food and delicious cider! The place could use some curtains or baffles or something to help absorb noise.
