Brick Lane Curry House on the Upper East Side is a cozy restaurant that serves Indian food with British influences. Stop by for lunch or after work and enjoy a beer with a friend. Lean on the solid wood bar while enjoying the laid-back sounds of alternative music mixed with British oldies. Snack on an onion bhaji or a samosa before moving on to a meal from the tandoor, such as mixed vegetables, chicken tikka or tandoori chicken. Brick Lane Curry House also offers several types of curries with choices of chicken, lamb, goat, fish, shrimp, paneer, vegetable or tofu.
Vegetarians and vegans can find the menu full of items that satisfy at Brick Lane Curry House. Select from chana masala, matar paneer or malai kofta. There are also a wide variety of rice and breads that can accompany any meal choice.
I've eaten at the downtown location several times and have never had a bad meal there. I met a couple of friends for dinner at the UES location last weekend, and the execution of the dishes was not consistent. Those who ate chicken were very happy. Those of us eating veggies had small complaints. For instance, the cauliflower in my dish was undercooked enough for me to notice it. That said, the service was good, and the meal was very reasonably priced. I would go there again if I were in the neighborhood.
OpenTable confirmed my reservation via email, only for me to show up to a restaurant that had been seized. It was dark and had notices in the window. Needless to say, my group and I had to make other plans.
We enjoyed our food and the service was excellent.
3 ½ stars. Always tasty and pleasant.
Went there couple days back. Finally the place is got back it's standard when they first open. Seems like it's a change of management . If it was they have made the right decision . The service was very impressive table manners were outstanding. Clean and food was outstanding . It reminded me of the old brick lane on 6th st downtown. Keep it up folks nice to have the old brick lane back
Cheers to that.
The food was not nearly as good compared to earlier visits. It appeared hastily prepared and was not at all memorable, though the ingredients were of good quality. The meal was lacking in texture and subtlety of flavor.
Service was unacceptably poor. Several times I needed to repeat simple requests that had been overlooked by the wait staff.
Based upon the service and food quality I received this time, I no longer believe Brick Lane is a good value. This is a pity, as during earlier visits the food was very good indeed.
We went to celebrate two birthdays. The staff, but Gaurang in particular, were amazing in their attention to our dining experience. The food was amazing, the service even more so, and all of it made for one of the most memorable dining experiences of my life, no kidding.
Phaal curry is to die for.
Many curries have veggie options
The food is delicious but we didn't like how we were rush out . They took our plates before we finished really felt uncomfortable. It was only 9pm
We discovered this restaurant while looking for a place to eat at the last minute on New Years Eve. We wanted something in the neighborhood with vegetarian selections. Everything we wanted out here and we were pleased with the food and the ambiance. We certainly intend to return.
