Brick Lane - Capitol Hill
Took our lunch reservation and they weren't there when we went for lunch... it was closed although open table let us reserve it and their website said they were open for lunch hour...
We went for lunch and we’re the only ones there so the noise level was 0. Our waiter was so nice and accommodating. He asked what music we’d like and put on 70’s greatest hits and sang along with us. The food was good - burgers were cooked correctly and the French fries were delicious. If you ever want to meet some friends for lunch and know you’ Be able to talk and enjoy a good meal, go to Brick Lane.
great value and lovely folks. My husband swoons over the rack of lamb
The drinks were very good - when they were made consistently. One friend sent his back as it was clear the bartender was paying more attention to her friends than to the drinks she was pouring. The food would have been fine if it hadn’t been over cooked. Should’ve been a great find, but poor execution means we won’t be back.
The service was slow even though there weren't a lot of customers when we got there. It took a long time to get our food and it was kind of cold when it came out.
We were there for mother's day brunch. There was supposed to be a special in addition to the regular menu -> $35 for an omelette/waffle station and a Moroccan main dish. There was no special and not buffet. Just the regular brunch menu.
Was closed on day scheduled, no sign or reason why....
Food was delicious, the pasta, steak salad & roast chicken all hit the spot. Was v quiet but we were there early.
My Partner In Munch & I went Brick Lane for Easter Brunch 2019 and we were not disappointed. After checking into Open Table with the hostess, we took with Ben who was attending the bar and he KNOWS how to make a mimosa. The food was delicious, the Tomato Basil Soup & Grits we really enjoyed along with omelettes prepared by Chef Alex. We felt very welcomed and recommend Brick Lane.
Wonderful staff and food..great for kids and drinks too.
Incompetent service. No de-caf coffee during a Brunch service... and they didn't send someone out to the local store to get some? Boring atmosphere no charm... food ok.
The food wasn’t bad but the service was horrible. The establishment only has 2 high chairs in the whole place. The server dropped off our brunch and never came back. After trying to get someone’s attentions for 5-7 min we decided to just eat our food: pancakes with no syrup, toast with no jelly. I finally got the hostess if she could bring us these items in addition to salt and pepper. She brought us salt and pepper and nothing else. Meanwhile a different server stopped by the table RIGht next to us multiple and almost purposely didn’t make eye contact. I will not be returning
excellent food and a great value. cordial and attentive service
My fiancé and I always have good meals and great times at Brick Lane Capitol Hill! Brick Lane is one of our favorite restaurants in DC. The steak is always cooked to perfection 😁
I had dinner here with a friend on a Monday night, relatively early. The place was nearly empty. It was therefore very quiet. The food was excellent and the server could not have been friendlier. He even comped us a dessert
Amazing staff, service, food, and hospitality. The owner went out of his way to say hello and talk with us for quite awhile. They have only been there about 5 months and we would highly recommend.
Went for brunch. Drinks were really good-some places skimp on alcohol for bottomless and they definitely didn’t! The food was good and the service was awesome. The place was a pretty empty for brunch, which made it feel a little less comfortable.
Hit or miss. Immediately seated, good prices and specials selections (prix fixe dinner $30 for salad/soup, entree, dessert, and glass of wine), service was great to keep water filled and check on us. However, the prix fixe wine was bad (tasted like water) and a seafood risotto wasn't good (mussels still in shells, chewy scallops). But - they noticed our distaste and gave us a free beer. Lava cake was good and overall good for prices. Liked the Tagliolini entree with shrimp, lava cake, and starter salad. Also, very loud patrons at the bar in the tight restaurant seemingly linger from happy hour but it was 9pm.
The worst! Too-bright and noisy, the staff was more interested in hanging with their friends at the bar than bringing us our (lukewarm) food. Inattentive and slightly discourteous service.
Lovely reasonably priced place! Nice staff and good food. We were the first people there, so it was quiet at first but it livened up! Definitely would come again for brunch or to try dinner!
The music was way too loud. All the customers seemed to be yelling at each other.
The service was great. The manager was very customer friendly and provided us with whatever we needed. I was happy with the food as well, very flavorful!
Terrible drinks, poor service, mediocre decor, seems to be in transition...may be better in a few months.
Solid experience! Ben was an AMAZING server!!
Valentine's Day dinner. Restaurant was understaffed, which led to depressingly long wait times. The waiter was as responsive as could be given the circumstances. Food was meh. Overall an underwhelming evening. That said, would return to give another try, hoping that we caught Brick Lane on a bad night.
We had to wait a little while to get our food, but the server and manager were very nice and apologetic and comped our drinks. Food was delicious and appropriately priced. Overall a good experience.
I recognize it was Valentines Day BUT the service was pitiful and the seafood inedible.
Scallops were rancid. Both of our party who ordered it but only ate a bite or two had stomach issues later. My hanger steak was fine.
We told Christina our server it should NOT BE SERVED to any more customers.
She was brave enough to try a morsel and AGREED something was not right
Family Valentine Dinner went well even with our one year old. My hanger steak was very tender, spinach was flavorful & mash potatoes were yummy. We'll be back for sure.
Lovely peaceful and delicious birthday celebration. One of us had the lamb and one the scallops as part of the prix fixe option. We were pleasantly surprised by the value and the ambience on this, our first visit, We cannot say enough positive things about Hamid, our waiter.
Most tender steak I've tried in a long time. The waiter was friendly and prompt. It was a little lacking in ambiance, but it made up for it with the great food!
This restaurant listed itself as open on the day I made this reservation. When I arrived, the door was locked. A gentleman standing in the restaurant simply waved us away as if we were bothering him. Never even bothered to come to the door to offer an explanation.
They may have been understaffed but their operations were just overwhelmed
Went to celebrate a birthday and anniversary. got a table near the back, away from the bar, where it was quieter.Scallops were perfect wit spinach and risotto-hoisin added a nice accent. Roasted broccoli, cauliflower, and, surprise, dates, was just fantastic. Lemoncello cake left a little to be desired, but service and ambiance were so delightful, they made up for that small point. Besides, I ate most of it next day, so my judgment may be off!
It was very enjoyable experience
Really tasty Caprese Benedict and pancakes at brunch, good salmon dinner, the best mojitos, and the staff is great (so nice), too!
The wait staff (Kurt, Ben & Ahmed) were friendly and personable always stopping by our table to make sure we were served. The bottomless Mimosas were a big hit since they allow your choice of juices-- I had pineapple. It was the best value for the brunch on the Hill with sizable portions. The breakfast food was favorable not the typical bland taste for home fries, pancakes, eggs etc. I happily returned for brunch the next day with a client. Very friendly atmosphere.
We really enjoyed our brunch at Brick Lane. The service was outstanding and the food was really great. It was not very crowded, since it’s a bit newer than other barracks row staples. However, it opens for brunch at 10- which is helpful since many neighbors aren’t open until 11. They also have a great bottomless deal and are family friendly. The patio is dog friendly too.
But the service and food were so good, we will 100% be coming back.
Kind of a strange place. They were out of a lot of food. The staff seemed untrained. The food was just ok.
Food was JUST about okay. We each had a burger. They got the cheese wrong. I asked for medium - it arrived well. The meat tasted weird - more like a Mediterranean lamb burger. I'm glad I tried the place bc it's new to the Hill but I have no interest in rushing back. We are at Trattoria Alberto on NY Eve and for the same cost had two amazing dinners - white tablecloth - and professional service.
Brunch..great options, great staff, excellent drink choices for unlimited options and loved the space. Will return to check out dinner soon!
Good food and service, but the place was very, very noisey.
