We had a Valentine's Day dinner, managing to secure a spot on the 13th(!), and thought the experience was nice. The waiter spoke highly of the braised meats - lamb shank and osso buco - so we ordered it and my wife and I found both tough. Braised ought not to be tough. Our appetizers were great - an eggplant napoleon and the special bruschetta with fresh bufalo mozzarella - and the waiter recommended a nice bottle of wine. Overall the experience was good.
The restaurant is buzzing with energy and appears to be a real local favorite as it was full in spite of the city being shut down thanks to the big snow storm. People found a way to get there! Excellent pasta paired with an excellent wine by the glass. My brick chicken ($26!) was a little disappointing (the vaunted 8 spices didn't make it into the meat, remaining skin-level). The cannoli were great, paired with a scoop of real ice cream. I would definitely go back to try other selections. Caveat emptor: the entrees are quite pricey, even over-priced.
Great experience. Was in Boston on business. Had a great meal and was able to depart out of Logan before the big storm (Feb 2013) hit!
server well informed about food as well as very attentive.
food very flavorful well presented and ample portions.
They only make brick oven pizzas on Friday and Saturday nights late. The ingredients are presented in unique combinations that are quite good, and presentation is unique too.
They have plenty of staff taking care of you.
We had a good dinner at this little hot spot on Hanover. We did have to wait 20 mins past reservation for our table, but the owner eased our discomfort by buying us a round! The bar area was packed and loud, and is not materially separated from the restaurant, so it was quite noisy. The food was good but not blow your socks off. I tried a mixed greens salad, a buratta appetizer, and an eggplant appetizer, all of which were very good. Others in the party seemed happy with their meals as well, though one was put off by the strange appearance of a pasta/pomodoro/meatball dish that looked like a little spaceship on the center of his plate. Once he broke it down, it tasted fine. One of many very good restaurants in the North End.
I arrived a little early for 7:30pm reservations and upon check in; I was told to check back closer to 7:30pm. There were three people at the hostess station and they all appeared to be frazzled, so I went back at 7:30pm. I was told to keep checking back for my table and was eventually seated at 8pm.
The bartender on the fireplace side was a little slow. A coworker’s bag fell over onto the floor and she looked at it and did not pick it up. In fact she and several other employees stepped over it. I don’t think the employees like each other.
The food was OK, but nothing really wowed me that I would go back. Our waiter was nice and did recommend a great bottle of wine.
We celebrated a 30th birthday, food was excellent, very fresh, wait staff was great and our server was very well informed about the wine list. The meal was not rushed at all. We would definitely return!!
Bricco was very good, though very expensive. The restaurant is very busy on Saturday night, and there were NBA players at the bar downstairs so you can be sure it's a trendy spot.
Beautiful place, amazing food, great staff. What more could you need?
Great food and service. I wish they have a few more vegetarian choices.
I was lucky enough to catch a night with were venison was a special of the night.
Cooked very well and would have it again.
The only downside to our dinner was where we were seated, In a squishy table that was unfortunately surrounded tightly on 3 sides by other tables and the fourth side 1 foot away from cooks station where all waiters picked up their orders. Too busy and I was a little ticked because before we were seated I informed the hostess that I didn't like the table and asked to be seated elsewhere, her response was just no you can't.
The menu was comprehensive and excellent. It was very hard to choose. I had the Misto Salad and the Rack of Lamb and it was done to perfection. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful. I would make it a point to return to this restaurant again when in Boston. A definite must.
great for dinner before a TD Garden game
Bricco is an outstanding restaurant! Its the gem of the North End. A little pricy but worth every single penny. I even requested a table by the windows for my bf's birthday through Open Table and I was surprised to see they actually pulled it off! I loved it and I will always keep it in mind for my special occasions.
This is not the first time I have been to Bricco but it was for my husband. It was a great meal, service was great too! The waitstaff is so friendly and fun!
The only issue I had is that we made a reservation and when they seated us - we were at a table for 4 - near the door. So I was a little disappointed that we didn't get a better table since I had made reservations well in advance.
Other than that, food was great as always and it was a great night out without the kids!
For the north end. It was just okay. The waiter was a bit pushy, very attentive but pushy.
Our waitress was great but it would have been nice if she had told us that the venison was $42 before we ordered it.
The food was excellent. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars overall is because our table was right by the door and every time someone opened the door (several times a minute) I would get a cold burst of air.
SLow with seating us but our waiter was SO funny and the food was fantastic!
Great Italian food! Loud and crowded dining room, but Excellent service, food & wine!
This was amagnificent restuarant. The food was excellent. The duck was superb and my wifes lobster, shrimp, clams etc. etc. was excellent Would strongly reccommend.Go backn aheartbeat. The noise was was between moderate and energetic--but its liveable.
One of the great things about Bricco is the wait staff. Attentive yet not overbearing. The Beef carpaccio is amazing. I am back again tonight.
Besides the tight quarters and small furniture it absolutely fantastic, great food and excellent drink selection.
Appitezzer's great steak overcooked. Bar was out of Sam Adams beer, bartenders did not know how to make 2of the cocktails i ordered and then didn't have the ingredients to make. Dining areas way too loud, and we sat upstairs too away from bar!
This highly rated restaurant was a disappointment. The meals were good, but not great. The seating at the cushioned benches were uncomfortably low for me (5'10") and very low for my 5'2" wife. Good food at an exorbitantly high price will keep me and my guests away from this restaurant for many years. Richard
The dishes we ordered were overcooked and bland.
Really great service, always new specials to try. Large portions for an upscale place, really one of the best places to go in the north end.
Went on a Wed nite and place was buzzing when we arrived. Our seat was right on the glass window facing the street which would have been a primo seat in summer, a bit chilly in winter. All our food was great, presentation too. Service was slower than I would have expected. The place started to thin out around 9. I'd rate this as very good.
Excellent meal with superb service....Cant go wrong dining at Bricco
Best steak I've ever had. Period.
Attention to detail is beyond perfect. Best restaurant in Boston! Better than any restaurant in New York. Compares favorably with the fine restaurants in Rome. The Manager, Nick provides excellent direction to staff and personal attention to patrons!
My husband and I loved our dinner at Bricco. It exceeded our expectations. We were seated at a table in a corner by the window which was good for my husband who has hearing issues. Our server was exceptional! She was very helpful with our wine selection, and very knowledgeable about the ingredients and preparation of the food offerings. We enjoyed our appetizers and main dish (Osso Bucco). The bread pudding was a perfect finish. We will be back, and certainly will recommend Bricco to our friends.
Wasn't a bad experience. But I've had better food for the price. Asked the server for a simple arugala salad and was told its not possible. Then I saw the table next to me order one and get it. When someone spends over $150 on a meal I don't think it's too much of a stretch to make a salad. I'm a chef I know its not on menu. But if you charge 8 for 3oz. Side of mashed potatoes....arugala salad shouldn't be a stretch
I came with my husbad for New Years Eve, and as always everything was great. Both the food and service were outstanding. I live in the North End, and Bricco is one of my favorites.
Overall my experience was very good. My one complaint would be that the cut of beef I ordered was not worthy of the price.
This restaurant is outstanding! We highly recommend it for any occasion! The atmosphere is vibrant, and the food is oh so wonderful! It's truly a "neighborhood gem"!!
The only drawback is that even though you may have a certain time booked for a reservation, we always seem to have to wait 30-45 minutes for someone to give up a table. But it's worth the wait and they have a great bar with outstanding appetizers and drinks.
Appetizers were outstanding. Entrees were good but nothing special. It was new years eve but the noise was terrible. One table had a group of 6-7 and were screaming all during dinner. Patrons beside us were also upset and spoke to management but it did little to help.
I've dined at Bricco a handful of times and have ordered something different - never has let me down. I prefer to sit downstairs vs. upstairs - better scene.
