The items aren’t thought out enough and a single flavor dominated each of the dishes we had.
The deviled eggs come with salmon roe and the salty, brine flavor is so overpowering that nothing else is tasted. You don’t taste the richness of the egg yolk or the smokiness of the paprika or the spice of the mustard. You taste salt.
The dry aged beef burger comes on a brioche that is so sweet that it overpowers the richness of the foie gras and the funkiness of the beef. You taste nothing but bready, sweetness. The entire purpose of dry aging is to put these blue cheese, funky notes forward. Here, they’re muted. Also, we ordered medium rare and the burger arrived well done.
The strawberry shortcake’s cake is a round, over cooked scone whose cream filling isn’t thick enough to add back the moisture lost and isn’t rich enough to coat your mouth in sweet notes. The strawberries are chopped instead of sliced. You’re unable to have a forkful which means each component has to be eaten separately.
The service was lacking. Our busser was far more attentive than our waiter. I wished we could have had the busser as our waiter.
Overall, not a great experience and not a great value. Your money is better spent elsewhere. Go to BurgerJoint for a real burger or make the trip to Peter Luger’s to drop the same amount of cash for a destination burger.
Had a phenomenal time with our big group of 16. The staff was great and super attentive. Food came out quickly too!
Food was ok- our burger bun was pretty charred and patty over cooked. We liked the Pickle Pot. Service was good.
the appetizers are a dumpster fire. stick to the lamb burger and then go home.
Lamb Burger quality has changed since pre Covid.
W O W what a great dinner. What a wow
Great cocktails and an amazing lamb burger!
Lamb burger was still good, med. rare. Twice cooked fries was not twice cooked since it was not crisp as before. Dry aged rib eye burger ordered med. rare was dry and over cooked. Seared foie gras was not seared. Very disappointed.
Nothing special in terms of burgers, ambience is nice and the salad was tasty.
Great Time Back at the Breslin. Nice seeing the next stage of their evolution. Will def be back.
The Breslin is my favorite restaurant. The lamb burger is amazing, really all the food is great. We keep coming back!
Food was good, but the prices and service were atrocious. I spent $25 on a burger, so I was disappointed when it wasn’t up to par. Not that it was bad, but certainly not worth the money.
Service was even worse, but I’m not sure I can blame the servers because they seemed understaffed (only two servers running around for a brunch crowd). We waited 50 mins. between order and meal, which his crazy considering we only ordered a burger and a sandwich. We had our coffees topped off once, and that’s as an ordeal of flagging the server down and having her come out 10 mins. later.
Get these poor girls some help! Wish I could have a reason to return, but unfortunately cannot in its current state. We tipped generously as always though, thank you for your service during covid!
Very good food but still expensive for what it is. And my soda was flat, they shouldn't open your soda for you, its unsanitary and belittling. And it was $6 for a mini bottle. Ridiculous even for midtown.
Prices are uprocketting! Burger was stinky.
Good to be back!
The lamb burger is great and the fries are amazing.
We ate outside - the street was blocked to traffic and it was very peaceful. Their fried chicken special was outstanding. The wait staff were perfect - attentive yet left us alone when we needed nothing. It was a great experience.
The atmosphere and food is nice. I would overall recommend the place. However the host was extremely rude and unhelpful. I would recommend they address this as soon as possible if they want clients such as myself returning.
The food is delicious. The service is great. The space is just average and very noisy. Lacks any real warmth. Wasn’t helped by a bunch of clueless Instagram “influencers” who spent their entire meal lighting their food with super bright LED lights and taking hideous photos of otherwise beautiful plates of food. Let’s hope they influence a whole generation of food lovers to actually taste April Bloomfield’s wonderful food.
The food here used to be really great but those days seem to be passed. The caesar salad was once a star - it is below average at best now.
What was once very hot is now past its prime. The lamb burger still rocks but the crowd is thin and the service is lousy.
Very disturbed. Asked, in advance, for side-by-side seating and they were unable to accommodate. Furthermore, they knew they couldn't accept my request when I made the reservation.
Very cool vibe. Excellent food.
My food came out cold. My wife’s “3 dollar per ounce” pork was mostly fat. No one came over to see if they could do anything
We were given a cozy corner table, and hitch allowed us to have quality conversation during this special family dinner. Our burrata app., lamb burger, black bass and pork chop entrees were all exceptional. Service was thoughtful and attentive. Ambience and noise level were perfect for fun atmosphere but still able to converse. Well worth waiting for this bucket list opportunity!
The best lamb burger
The host was a bit rude or just inexperienced. We were arrived a couple minutes prior to the kitchen opening and prior to our reservation and we were standing right in front of the host for a couple minutes. We were not acknowledged until 1 or 2 minutes after the kitchen was open for dinner where we were asked to “please take a step back Incase others need to get through.” Which is a fine request, but generally you say hello first, especially when a group is waiting right in front of you for a few minutes. My wife had the lamb burger, about 4 years ago and has been telling how great it was. It was good but not great. It was a smaller burger patty than she remembered with a huge bun. Way too much bun with not enough burger for me. Also her sea bass was very fishy. The apps were very good, we had the liver, burrata and scotch egg. Also there fries are quite excellent. The waitress was nice and service was good. Nothing spectacular, but good. I probably won’t go back given the cost of the meal which is standard New York prices vs the value.
Would have liked my lamb burger a little more cooked. Otherwise, excellent meal!
Breakfast at the Breslin was a perfect for a business meeting , great service , amazing food and quiet overall in the restaurant. I highly recommend it.
When I have friends in town, Breslin is one of my favorite places to go. Nice ambience, very entertaining, service is excellent and food is great! I suggest the lamb burger, fantastic!!!!
Very creative menu
This is a nice little gem located in Chelsea. We went there for breakfast with 4 small children (two couples). The service was excellent, and the quality of food and craftsmanship was very good. A little pricey, but it is Chelsea. The decor and ambiance was classic PUB style with a beautiful wooden bar. Great place to grab breakfast.
Front of house staff was disorganized. Waited 40 mins past our rez to get sat. All dishes were vastly over salted.
Food was terrible, waiter had no idea what he was talking about
It’s true just like other reviews —- long wait for the food. Took more than half hour for one dish. Waiter is not bad as other reviews. But the food waiting time is ‘abnormally’ long for a general restaurant. Also, the saltiness level is high which I agrees with other review.
The lamb burger is back to its consistently extraordinary standard! There was a little fumble a year or two ago but all is well again. The breslin is the perfect place for a good comforting and high-quality meal in a chill setting with great service. A tried-and-true favorite that doesn’t disappoint!
Overall we had a great night with close friends and enjoyed the food. With that said, it would have been a better experience if our waitress was at least 20% interested at being at work. For a festive, expensive Friday night out, a little conversation and attention is not too much to ask for. We could hardly get her attention and then she would walk away before we even finished asking questions. Should never have to be that way.
Mmmmmmmm sooo good and tasty.
Terrible service . Literally forgot to put in our order . Then lied that is was almost done instead of telling the truth and we waited for 30 more min and even then our order was not complete . Brutally rude .
