Food and service were excellent. Definitely worth a try
We both ordered fish-two different types- and thought they were excellent. The creme brûlée dessert was outstanding.
Very good. I was surprised with the texture/taste of the mashed potatoes with the Beef medallions. Almost like instant?? Not good.
Beef was outstanding and the fried avocado appetizer is outstanding.
Excellent service, great food, love linen tablecloths
This restaurant can tend to be fairly noisy, especially if you're near a large table w/ 8-10 people (as I have been in the past). We went earlier than usual (6:30) & that tended to be better. By the time we were finished, it was noticeably noisier. We had a fantastic server! 2 of us got 2 different specials, & 2 ordered off the regular menu. We were all happy w/ our food. I got the special whole fried flounder, & it was superb. The sides - fingerling potatoes & snow peas - were mediocre. They are very nice about making substitutions.
The food is always well prepared and plated beautifully.......staff is warm and welcoming.....a treasure!
Brent a pleasure to meet you! Food was amazing, your staff was awesome. Thank you all.
Very nice menu and fresh fish. Great wine list, local beers and craft cocktails. Looks like a strip mall but very nice decor. Go and enjoy a Wilmington gem. You will return again.
We were thrilled to find another wonderful restaurant not far from our home in Harbor Island. Both our meals were delicious, our server attentive and friendly. I would love to see a larger 'by the glass' wine offering, but if that's my only suggestion, then I think you can know that we will be back to enjoy trying more items from the menu! Carol and Steve Rum
This dinner included our Brooklyn daughter and her boys, 4 and 5. Brent's took very good care to keep these youngsters happy and in their seats. They loved their pasta dinner and talked grandpa into a taste of his chicken and mashed potatoes. We drove from Leland, but it was worth the trip to see our grandsons enjoy the dinner.
I’ve got the worlds pickiest eater for a husband and this is his new favorite place! Steak was perfect and the flounder beyond description. Going back next week for birthday celebration!
Brent's Bistro is one of, if not the best restaurant in Wilmington! The food and service is outstanding every time. The wine list and bar service is excellent as well. You will not be disappointed.
Overall we had a great time and the restaurant was absolutely full. Unfortunately this meant we had a small table next to the door which meant it was rather cold. The food was excellent and we would recommend the snail appetiser and the rack of lamb and pork chop entrees. These paired well with an excellent pinot noir. The service was good even though everything was rather crowded.
The grouper was outstanding! It may have been a bit overcooked though. I am not a chef, so that's just my opinion.
Very good food, excellent service, nice menu, acceptable noise level. So so strip mall ambiance. That could be improved but overall a nice experience.
Excellent food. A great choice of food -- all excellent. And the prices are very reasonable. Our favorite in the area.
Best little bistro in town! Food is amazing. Never disappointed
As we have experienced in the past, it was great to be there again. We had a delightful evening with good food and a relaxed environment that had a calming end to a busy day. Thank you.
Had a great birthday dinner. Loved it. Will be back. Great service and loved the wine.
Our dinner was delicious! The chef made accommodations for one of our party who has celiac - we had called ahead and requested Gluten free Crabcakes. He made them for her without hesitation— definitely recommend dining here ! We always love everything. Haven’t had a bad meal here yet ! Some of the best seafood in Wilmington!
My wife has been wanting to go to Brent's and she was not disappointed. The food and service were good and quick and this may be our 'special' place going forward.
We enjoyed my father’s 93 birthday at this restaurant. The service and food were excellent. We enjoyed several different entrees and all were expertly prepared. I would definitely visit again when in town.
Our first visit to Brent’s Bistro unfortunately coincided with a Sunday night championship football game and a loud rowdy woman in a foursome at the bar. She and the TV were so obnoxious that we almost left before being seated.
Fortunately, we stayed and greatly enjoyed the excellent and well priced wine, superb appetizers and creative entrees. The small but well decorated space only lacked acceptable ambiance because it has no separation between the lovely dining space and the loud TV/bar with badly behaved patrons. Lose the TV and / or add greater bar - dining room differentiation and you’d have a great place for GREAT food, conversation with soft lights and music.
We will be back for the food and look forward to new magic that the chef may deliver.
Had a coupon for dinner but had also heard from others that this was a good place and we were not disappointed. Started out with avocado and seafood salad which featured a unique twist as the avocado was lightly fried (not greasy at all). A real winner. Had the beef and oyster napolean which was cooked to perfection. Service was attentive. The place is small therefore tables are close together and while not noisy it is not going to be a place for quiet conversation. It is definitely a place worth going and we look to return
WOW! Decided to try Brent's based on reviews and it did not disappoint! Had crab dip, tuna, salad, avacado appetizer - service was great, wine was great, food was great. We wanted to split the tuna and I wanted blackened and he did not - so they split it and prepared separately. What a great experience - we will be back. My new favorite Wilmington upper scale spot!
Diverse menu. Great food and wonderful service. Can’t wait to go back.
Absolutely the best food I think I have ever had. Environment and service at its best!!
The flounder special is to die for!
Took my Uncles there and they said the food and the drinks were as good or better than NYC where they lived for 50 years. As for myself it was a great experience and we even got to chat with the owner.
Can't judge a book by its cover.
Exterior not much to look at--coastal shabby.
But step inside and be prepared for a near perfect dining experience.
Quit dining space. White table cloth of course.
Manageable yet diverse menu, including dessert.
Pleasant and efficient wait staff.
For us, definitely a return venue.
Grouper special was awesome! My husband and I split it. Love that they split the protein and give us adequate sides to go with it. Service was great. Never disappointed at Brent’s
it took over an hour for dinner to be served. Our waitress disappeared from the room after serving the bread and appetizers -no explanation about the delay. She was totally unattentive. Tables that sat down after us were served much sooner.
The food was very good despite the poor service. I had the rack of lamb and asked another waitress for a steak knife. She said that the knife I was using was a steak knife and offered a alternative one which was no sharper. Both knives made it difficult to cut the lamb which was tender and perfectly cooked. Sharp steak knives would be an improvement.
We have been fans of Brent's Bistro since it opened. We will assume that this experience was an anomaly and dine their again.
Been here a few times and enjoyed the food and the people, great little spot.
The duck special was fabulous as well as the filet mignon!
This was our second visit to Brent's. We started with cocktails at the bar and were surprised at the variety of choices available and the bartender was fabulous. I asked for a basil martini and it was among the best I have had - they can be tricky to mix but he knew what he was doing and it was perfection! We moved to our table for dinner and were pleased that the menus were brought right away. The regular menu choices were tempting but the duck special caught my eye, being from LI,NY, I am sometimes hesitant to order duck because too many times it is too rare and not what I prefer. This was cooked so well that I ate the entire breast - served with a cherry reduction that was not too sour or sweet. The sweet potato cake was a clever recipe and was delicious! A lovely wine list is available and not over priced. James the chef, came to the table as we were finishing up and we complimented him on variety and preparation of all the food. Highly recommend this spot for a scrumptious meal and nice atmosphere...you will not be disappointed!
Everything was fine. This is not among the best in a big City but is excellent for Wilmington.
Appetizers of fried green tomatoes and escargot were flavorful and easily shared. The entrees of half rack of lamb and filet mignon were excellent. Would not let us substitute asparagus because it was for daily special only. The third entree of shrimp pasta was good but pasta slightly overcooked. Overall food and prices were good. Wine selection was good and reasonable.
Nice menu choices. Our party of 3 enjoyed each dinner. One seafood, one pork and one vegetarian. Good service.
This was our third visit and have been pleased each time. Would wholeheartedly recommend it.
The first time we went on a Saturday night. Large party came in, seated near us. Too noisy. This time we went on a week night w/ friends. Very enjoyable. Low noise, so conversation was possible. Very good server. Nice menu plus a few specials. Enjoyed the food - fried oysters, salmon. Moderately priced. We will return.
