We love the romance of Brenner’s;however, this was a first time with full force family including 2 under 12. It went extremely well! Food was excellent as always, and the staff was so very accommodating. We will be back most assuredly. They handled all six of us without a hitch!
We were seated in back corner of restaurant inside of a extended window. Very cramped area for a larger person. The hostess litterally watched me struggle to fit into the area. The view of the "bayou" was blocked by the roof of the outside bar area so all I saw was a metal roof on top of having to kill what seemed like gnats throughout dinner. The waiter was good but the other issues made us overlook his service. We arent complaining folks so we made the best of it considering it was our anniversary dinner. The food was good but again being uncomfortable took that experience away. I would have thought making a reservation and noting it was our anniversary would have resulted in great seating but it didnt. I was super excited about coming to this restaurant as I watch Billion dollar buyer but after paying for a babysitter and spending almost 190 on dinner and being uncomfortable with no view I doubt we will ever return here.
Will did a fantastic job. Well done, sir. Thanks for the hospitality.
Great steaks! Best in Houston! Lovely location! First visited the I-10 location in 1969
on a friends' recommendation!
We had an amazing meal but dinner for 8 people took 3.5 hours on a non busy Sunday night. First cocktail ordered took 30 minutes to get to our table. The food was excllent and the place is absolutely beautiful. Service was just extremely slow.
Service and food were impeccable!!! Would definitely recommend and return again...
While the oysters were amazing, I was dissapointed by the Tuna tartar
We went to dinner and to start off the table that was given to us was right next to the kitchen and a lot of traffic. We were then served bread that was too hard, the oysters had broken shells in them, and the main course (pan-seared fish) was over cooked. Overall, a bad experience...
The food was awesome glad I found this restaurant. It's a beautiful restaurant very rustic and cozy. I do have couple of complaints that should be taken into consideration like the music outside the front door I thought was way way too loud and I wasnt excited about the desert I had the apple strudel. Dont let that stop you from going cause the food is very good.
Brenner’s is a real hidden gem and now in my top 3 restaurants in Houston. Great place to sit outside on the deck and enjoy an aperitivo before going in for a sumptuous dinner! Food is prepared with a chef’s attention to details and the plating is appealing. Have not tried the soufflé yet, but will next time.
Impeccable ambiance! We had a thoroughly great time. The waiter was exceptionally nice and attentive. Food was great. Will highly recommend.
The filet was fantastic. Highly recommend when you're craving a good steak.
Beautiful restaurant, lovely atmosphere, great (rehearsed) service, but the food is just okay. Not bad at all, just not unique nor impressive. Scallops were drowned in heavy mayo spicy sauce, I didn't think the sauce complimented the delicate flavor and texture of the scallops. My red snapper was a tad dry, and the creamed spinach was over baked a bit. The chocolate souffle is more for show than great taste. Overall I do recommend but only for special occasion.
Food was amazing and Ricardo our server made sure we received the best service possible.
We had to wait over 1 hour 30 mins past our reservation time. What is the point in making a reservation if the wait is so significant.
The restaurant has a very scenic location and the ambience is very nice. However, I was extremely disappointed with the service, quality of food and the delays in getting a table even after making a reservation. The staff seemed overwhelmed and a private event on the outdoor patio probably took all the attention. The waiter at our table was very polite but obviously new to the job and not very adept at handling the delays. He forgot to order one of the dishes, brought out a wrong cocktail and made no efforts to make the occasion special (wife's birthday)
We were seated up stairs in the corner. I explained repeatedly that it was a special night because it was my boyfriends birthday. I didn’t like where we were seated and the wait for the food was longer than normal. We didn’t even take pictures because the evening wasn’t what we expected.
Texas quail, red snapper, and soufflé were all amazing and made the best dinner I have had in a really long time...which is saying a lot in a city like Houston with so many diverse and delicious restaurant options!
Music was way too loud on the walkway to the front door, and at hostess station.
Promptly seated with a great view, as requested. Food was amazing and Jamie, our waitress, was very attentive with a fantastic attitude!
My family of 4 (4 adults) were disappointed in our experience. First time we have been to the restaurant. Even though we had reservations, we had to wait another 20 minutes to be seated after we asked several times. They sat us a table that was too close to the wall and one of us couldn't sit properly. We asked to be moved and they placed us at a table looking into the kitchen and by the stairs. At the top of the stairs, there was a musician playing. The music was loud. We had to yell to hear each other. The server was not attentive. The food was not good. We ordered a steak - no flavor. Chicken dish - odd taste. Porkchop - Ok. The food is expensive and not worth the price for the quality, service or atmosphere.
After waiting 45 minutes past our reservations with no seating available, we were seated at a table, the food and service were excellent.
Noise level was very high with the packed house.
Way too crowded. They oversold big time for Easter brunch. They were out of some of their "most popular" items. (You would think they would have anticipated the demand, since they knew how many people had booked). Took forever to get the food, my order was wrong and the wait staff was friendly, but obviously horribly overworked.
I guess the garbage was not picked up on Friday, so the large dumpsters on the side of the restaurant (within view as one entered the restaurant) were foul and it smelled like garbage on the front deck, front stairs and in the foyer. And there was a restaurant employee sitting next to the dumpsters who looked like she was polishing the silver or something. Very odd.
Will not go back for a holiday brunch. Normally it is not that crazy.
Please don't send a response or apology. The only way to fix these problems is not to oversell on holidays. Your restaurant is just not big enough to accommodate all those people comfortably. It should not be that hard to figure out.
It only took 45-50 minutes for the food to come out after we ordered
Normally a great place to dine, but don't go on a holiday for brunch. It was a mad house during Easter when we went. The usual snafus, waiters with large groups to deal with, kitchen backed up and courses sent out in wrong order, bar backed up and waiting for drinks. Do go during happy hour.
I made a reservation asking for a table outside. Restaurant called twice to confirm. When we arrived, they confirmed we wanted to eat outside, took us outside and told to seat wherever. No table available. Per hostess, then manager: “There is no reservation for outside.” The best the manager could come up with as far as justification was that he was sorry. The earliest opening they had inside was 90 minutes away. Note: we did not dine there, so the ratings of the individual questions were just entered in order to proceed to this open comment.
This restaurant has been here forever and we finally checked it out. The ambiance is really special and the staff was remarkable! I'll be back with others!
Waited over 1 hour to be seated! Way overpriced!!
The bar service poor and rude. Dinner service was long and very forgetful. The steak was tough.
I could go on but the experience was so disappointing I rather not take any additional time to express the dismal experience.
Brenners on the Bayou is a great special occasion restaurant. I gave it four stars for ambiance only because we arrived early for the explicit purpose of hanging out at the Blue Bar. Alas, it was closed for a private party. The indoor bar isn’t nearly as much fun.
Celebrating wife’s 50th birthday. Called ahead for pre-arranged champagne and seating. Lindsay (hostess) couldn’t have been better!!! Our server Ana was so bubbly and made the evening so much fun. Definitely going back
We found the restaurant to be above average, it was a nice place to have a business meal. Though we did take offense to that fact that we were given a table back in a corner when there were plenty of tables next to the windows.
Seated in dark corner could not even read menu; vent above blowed cold air above table; Ordered Wagu beef special and server put au jus on top in error.
This is obviously an iconic Houston restaurant, but the building is really magical. The food was excellent, service well staged and scripted. Darn fine!
A delicious Sunday Brunch from a somewhat limited menu. Wonderful live music, pitched at just the right level, complimented the atmosphere and the beautiful view.
Loved the ambience and the view.
The food was good too.
Good place for a date, not the best steak in town but a good experience!!
Just an enjoyable, relaxing evening. My 44 Farms filet was exceptional, as were the oysters on the half shell. Our two waiters, Nick and Cameron, were gracious and attentive.
I guess since we didn’t order a bottle of wine our waiter decided we were no longer an important table. Our plates sat in front of us for about 15 min before I had to waive our waiter down to remove them after we finished.
The service was excellent and attentive. The food was excellent. We had a window table so we got to watch a dinner & proposal at the Gazebo. It was a lovely, “date night” for this old married couple.
