Brenner’s Steakhouse Katy Freeway Ratings and Reviews
The food was excellent, the location and ambiance quaint and elegant, and the service was very good, save for one detail. My food came out wrong. I ordered a filet and was brought a ribeye. The food was rushed back to the kitchen and corrected, and everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The other blemish on the night was that the ribeye remained on the bill, and I did not notice until I had paid and made it home and examined the ticket further. I live close by, so I returned to the restaurant to speak to the manager, who explained the error had already been caught an corrected (though I wish they had checked my reservation and called me to say so). I assume these mishaps to be isolated and not systematic, and I would still recommend the wine (half price bottles over $100 on Sundays!), food and ambiance for those in search of an upscale dinner for a special occasion.
We visited Brenner Steakhouse this past Saturday January 13th to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a group of 9 including 2 kids. The food was amazing, everything was prepared to our liking, very fresh and tasty. The ambiance was perfect, not too quiet but not too loud. The view of the outside patio is great. I was a bit nervous about bringing 2 kids to the dinner but it turned out just fine. They don't have a kids menu but do offer chicken tenders and a few other items for the little ones.
Overall, we had a great experience. We will be back soon!
My family has been dining here for several decades. The best part is that it has hardly changed over the years. Always a great place for special occasions and business meetings. A buddy and I had lunch on this occasion. We both enjoyed one of their famous lump crab cakes for an appetizer, and for our entree, we had the melt-in-your-mouth blackened red snapper with lump crabmeat topping. Will definitely be back soon!
One of my all time favorite restaurants. I have been coming here for years. I love the fact that it is small and comfortable. Keeping the original look and feel of the restaurant was very wise on Landry's part after they acquired the property. Wait staff is top notch and the Sunday brunch menu is excellent. The chicken fried tenderloin on the South Forty is as good as it gets!
This would’ve been a 5 star review, but we were initially taken to 1/2 tables in the bar. This was before the dinner peak, and there was room and other diners in the main dining area. It was kind of humiliating to book a reservation a couple of weeks in advance, to be seated in a terrible spot behind the bar. It was corrected though, and we went on to have a great meal. We honestly wanted to leave before a different table was assigned. Our waiter was excellent and the food was wonderful. He definitely made up for that sour first impression.
Christmas dinner was very good. Wife had a French 75 and Brenners makes the best. My appetizer was black and blue flatbread that was extremely tasty. On the money. My wife’s pork chop was great. She liked her beet salad. I had great streusel and wife had chocolate mousse cake. Excellent both. 4 Stars because I reserve 5 stars for rare usage. We love Brenners food and drinks and the pretty back garden and fountain. Great place for any occasion
Great food and service but we were seated in the bar area. The issue with sitting in the bar was they bring people though the bar to sit in other areas. The entire dinner people were passing through and holding the door open and it was cold out. I'd return but will request not to sit in the bar area.
As usual very good meal and excellent service. We were somewhat disappointed in the scallops appetizer-we order both blackened and sautéed. Both types were too salty to suite our collective tastes. Wouldn't order that again. Everything else was outstanding.
I love Brenner's. I love entertaining clients and celebrating special family occasions at Brenner's. However, I am frustrated by the recurring issues with the wine. This past Monday with 3 clients present, I ordered the Stag's Leap Artemis 2014 only to be brought a 2015 bottle. When I asked the waiter about it he went back and checked and was told the 2014 was no longer available. On other past occasions I have ordered bottles appearing on the menu. The waiter returns and informs me that they are out of stock but "May I recommend __________________". I am left with the impression that the waiter is pushing (or being told to push) another wine that needs to be moved off the shelves. The wine list is very impressive but based on my multiple experiences at Brenner's , is just misleading. I wish you would do something about this to minimize these experiences in the future. Thanks for your consideration in this regard.
They ran out of the special before noon (prime rib), then they ran out of the replacement (half chicken). Finally ordered items that they had in stock on the third try. The fifteen minutes between each order and explanation that they no longer had that option caused a 2 1/2 hour lunch.
Brenner's is our favorite restaurant. Any date night or brunch or nice dinner with friends, will most likely be Brenner's. The Bayou location is really nice as well but this one has a quaint, quiet feel to it where as the Bayou location tends to be a bit louder. The food, service and beverages are all outstanding! Brunch, lunch or dinner, it's all wonderful. We've never had a single complaint. The views of the small water fall / koi pond and beautiful landscaping is the icing on the cake.
Waited 45min to be seated when we had a reservation. Waited 15 min before ordering a beverage. Poor wine selection. Calamari tasted like straight corn meal. Our server was polite and friendly. Entree was average. All around experience was so bad that we actually had our bill comped without even asking. Been here multiple times but will never come back. It’s sad because it was the place we had our special occasions. Next time we will go to the location on the Bayou.
We had a reservation at 7pm, but our table wasn't ready when we arrived. We had to wait in the front/bar area, but there was no room for us. We were made to feel as if we were in the way no matter where we went. The wait staff was outstanding. They were very attentive and nice. I thought the food was delicious. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and thought is was the best I had ever tasted. Unfortunately, I became violently ill a few hours later and the entire experience was ruined for me. The restaurant contacted me by email to ask my opinion and I told them what happened to me. However, I have not received any response from them. I would not have written this review the way I did had I been contacted by them. So, I guess that's the last time we visit there.
Our client comes in town in December to treat us to a holiday lunch to celebrate the work we did together as a group. He leaves me in charge of choosing a restaurant. Naturally I try to choose something new or different than our usual monthly lunch throughout the year. I chose Brenner's after I remembered hearing from different friends about how much they loved it. Our client, a restaurateur himself, and a lover of fine dining, was very impressed with the cuisine and the overall appearance. The food was excellent from the appetizers to the entrees and of course the dessert! The atmosphere was relaxed yet elegant, with the outside feature impressing our client as well. We felt very much at home and enjoyed our time there.
I hope that we will visit again when he comes in town, since he becomes loyal to those places he loves!
The steaks are always good and cooked to perfection. A bit noisy but could easily hear everyone talk at our table. Everyone was having a good time. Great mixed drinks, they don’t skimp on the liquor. The outside seating is beautiful with a gold fish pond and other scenery and gas fire torches. They have complementary valet parking which is a plus. All in all a great place to eat and drink and enjoy company.
Good food and good service in a pleasant atmosphere. Now well into my sixties there are few places that offer what I call real food in good portions with outstanding flavor - there were not a lot worth visiting when I was thirty, at this point Brenner's is a rare gem. We do not go there often, but through the probably thirty years we have been going there little has changed. If I have any criticism at all it would be that they don' t seem to fill a wine glass as full as they once did, but it is simply a wonderful friendly place.
