We attended Brenner's last weekend in celebration of my wife's birthday ... and our experience was mixed at best.

The ambience at Brenner's is marvelous, and the attentiveness we received from our server Chris was outstanding.

There were several major issues with the food:
- My wife received an incorrect appetizer (in fairness, Chris was quite apologetic and resolved the issue quickly)
- She was not impressed with her opening salad - it was bland, with nothing to distinguish it, frankly, from any salad available off the shelf at a supermarket
- My braised beef short ribs were delivered cold
- Upon their reheating and return, they were not of good quality; the meat was dry and stringy

As for a future recommendation, we might recommend Brenner's primarily for the warm and inviting atmosphere - although, to be honest, we're not sure that even that is enough to make up for the deficiencies in the quality of the food we experienced.

Lovely dinner on outside patio. Our waiter, Chance was appropriately attentive and very delightful. The steaks were cooked just as ordered. Always enjoy a special occasion dinner at Brenner’s. Did not disappoint.

Birthday dinner

The valet was really unprofessional. The service basic, i think this steakhouse is just overpriced for nothing. The food was average, I only really liked the crabe cake. Their crème brûlée was more brûlée than cream.

Still our go to place for steak! Every visit is consistently wonderful. From the music, cocktails, service, and food.... Fantastic!

No lunch menu. Requested filet medium medium to medium well and it was prepared WELL DONE! Very disappointed!!

One of the finest and best places to eat close to the Energy Corridor.
The dining room is relaxed with nice music and a warming ambient.
The wine cart and Licor variety is excellent with a great selection of local and imported options.

Made reservations for a birthday dinner, and listed birthday occasion. We Were asked by the host if it was my birthday and said yes , I’m thinking the waiter just forgot to ask , not a big deal , aside from that the place was amazing. And food was great. Just a heads up remind your waiter it’s a special occasion. :)

Best steak in Houston! Delicious food and great service!

The atmosphere was very peaceful out on the patio. We came early, so there weren't many patrons, yet. The only noticeable slight distraction was road noise, however, we were able to have a conversation without needing to raise our voices.
The food and drinks were superb. The service was excellent.
We will definitely be back, soon.

Ordered the Texas fried chicken, it tasted like it was out of an T.V dinner box. Would not order again, service and ambiance was good. Really need to improve the quality of food. Drinks were really good!

Always great service and food was fantastic. We were in the back room which isn’t my favorite, but we had a large party so I think there wasn’t an option to be in the main dining room.

The restaurant and service was outstanding. The manager, Jeff, greeted us when we arrived and checked on us while dining. The wait staff couldn’t do enough for us. The food was top notch. I would highly recommend Brenner’s and especially this location. It’s spotless, excellent staff and management and the food is outstanding.

We’ve come here many times for a wonderful dining experience but tonight was quite a disappointment. We made an early reservation to avoid the crowds and high noise level. We were shown to the almost empty dining room and seated at a table right by the restroom in a row of other tables. When we requested to be moved to an empty table in the corner because of a profound hearing disability we were refused. We were told those empty tables were reserved for a large party coming in about an hour later. And yet, shortly after that a party of 4 ( the same size as ours) was seated at one of the tables we had requested. After that, a party of two was seated in the other corner table. It’s a shame because the food is delicious and our waiter was excellent, but to be dismissed the way we were, I doubt we will ever return.

I am not a big fan of chains, in general, or Landry’s , in particular; BUT, I have to admit that ALL at the menu items that we tried this week at Brenner’s were simply outstanding. lobster bits, filets, mushrooms, bernaise, and bread pudding – all were truly exceptional. The quality of the food simply overwhelmed any other shortcomings in terms of value or service. Applause to Landry’s.

Our waiter was excellent; he couldn't do enough to help us enjoy the evening. the somelier Adam was very knowledgable and helpful. The food was fabulous. two managers checked with us and were very professional while still chatty. Overall a really pleasant ambience and a memorable experience.

We had a nice anniversary dinner

Brenner’s was a lovely way to celebrate our 30th anniversary! The setting was beautiful, the service was outstanding, and the food was delicious!

Filet was excellent in all respects. The mashed potatoes were superb!

Only disappointment was coffee and the pecan pie. Coffee was served barely luke-warm and the pecan pie was no better than what I can buy at HEB. My wife and I shared a piece of pie and we didn't finish it. :(

Food was cold and didn’t follow ordering instructions.
Dining room seems very dated.
Too expensive for the quality.

The only thing unacceptably bad was our actual server. And I am in the business of fine dining.

Overselling: He told us about 75% of the appetizers & entrees before being given the chance to ask for recommendations before he went into his spiel. He never once asked us a question such as what we were interested in.
Not informative: We had our menus closed indicating we were ready to order before he told us there was a special.
He was also unfamiliar with dining etiquette: He reached ACROSS me, which indicates that my utensils weren’t in the position that signifies I am finished eating. He actually picked up my fork, and dropped it onto my plate. It actually clattered loudly. At least ask he if I’m finished eating!

Now the bus service was at the opposite end of the scale. The best bus service I have EVER received. That’s usually a tough part of the service to comment on because it should be nearly invisible. And it was. It was extremely subtle as it should be. Never once were any of our glasses less than 3/4 full. I would reach for my water and poof! It was full again. It was almost like there was a magician handling my needs before I knew I had a need. Perfection.

Another part of our dining experience that was noticeably lacking was that of the the front of house manager. He went twice to the table next to us to us to recognize the man sitting there as a regular. Great, acknowledging a regular customer is a crucial part of giving great service. The other side of that is earning repeat business at ALL the tables. I’m always delighted when a manger stops by my table to introduce themselves & check in to make sure we are getting what we need. I feel important, I feel cared for. I feel VALUED.

Not sure we will return. Great food but it’s Houston; there are many restaurants that serve exceptional food. It’s the service that makes me a repeat customer in a city with many, MANY steakhouses.

Service started out very slow and they brought 3 menus for 4 of us. We asked for cocktail menu and our server looked confused but did eventually bring it. The goat cheese appetizer and lobster bisque were amazing! Had the fried beef tenderloin which was their version of chicken fried steak and we all agreed it was the best one we have ever had!! Croissant bread pudding was also very good. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back. Would like to sit outside in the garden next time
