Brenner Pass

It was their opening night since the pandemic started with patio seating only. Umbrellas and nice breeze made it very comfortable. Our excellent server was attentive and knowledgeable when providing details about certain apps, charcuterie, and wine. We enjoyed a nice selection of charcuterie and outstanding veal schnitzel and monkfish.

An incredible menu with a knowledgable stuff. I needed gluten free recommendations and the wait staff went out of their way to touch on every piece of the menu and describe options. Will definitely come back!

Had a great time there and food was delicious. Took my friend for his birthday. Waiter was pleasant and served us great. Keep up good work. I had striped bass and he had steak. Sides were nice portions and decorative. Price very reasonable.

Everything about Brenner is fabulous including the service. We had Grant for waiter. He is one of the best in Richmond!

Sausage stuffed onion over fondue. What? Yes, please. Root vegetable Caesar. Yes daddy. Schnitzel wine and cocktails OH MY. I can’t express enough my love for this place. Professional employees who know their menu and the wine. When the food comes out you’ll know what you’ve been missing,

What a great restaurant. From the drinks to the food... it’s my favorite new place. I highly recommend the brioche rolls. OH MY GOD!

I eat here very often. Never had a bad meal! Service is excellent and the menu is always changing. The noise level is a little loud, but it hardly distracts from the overall dining experience.

The menu is different, but good. It's hard to describe exactly what it is. Perhaps, european.

The first time we went to Brenner Pass happened to be during Restaurant Week -- and frankly the menu was limited and the food was fine. Stupidly, we let that experience cloud our view of Brenner Pass. We finally returned for a full meal and we were blown away by the high quality and the ingenuity. We will surely be back! Excellent experience.

Everything was perfect from beginning to end. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The charcuterie and food options were all delicious! We weren't sure of what we wanted for the charcuterie so we had the chef's picks and it did not disappoint!

Service was a bit slow, temperature in restaurant was too cold, and my veal schnitzel tasted like it had been fried with fish. My girlfriend also tasted and agreed the veal tasted fishy. The special beef bolognese was also nothing special. Neither dishes were worth $24. I regret coming and will not be returning.

Hands down best service I've had in RVA. The food was fabulous but the service made it special. Thank you!

Amazing food and spectacular service! We enjoyed several appetizers (oeufs mayonnaise, fondue, crab trifle, strangoparetti, croquettes) and main courses (lamb, rabbit, burgers, and halibut), and they were all fantastic. Really nice atmosphere with soft lighting.

Service will trump any small problems otherwise. Delicious food. Excellent cocktails. A little noisy, but service non pariel.

Change your photos on Open Table--they don't show what a lovely atmosphere your restaurant has. The pictures make the restaurant look cold and stark--not the warm and inviting place it really is. I passed up on Brenner Pass several times b/c the presentation on Open Table didn't look that great. So glad I finally visited--it was amazing!

My husband and I enjoyed Brenner Pass very much. Our waitress Cindy was awesome and made our night even better. The food was outstanding. It’s a little loud but recommend

Creative cocktails

We shared the fondue which was creamy and satisfying and added some sausage recommended by the waiter. Started with a Caesar salad (with spicy, garlic-y breadcrumbs on top) and an excellent, stew-like vegetable soup (maybe spelled Ribollita?) The wine list was unusual and interesting. We had a white from the Savoie region of France which was crisp and medium bodied. Finished with a glass of red and a chocolate-orange dessert. The waiter was very well informed and attentive. Ambience was warehouse/industrial appropriate to the Scotts' Addition neighborhood. There was dramatic low lighting, generous room between the tables and the seats were comfortable.

Great staff, great service, and delicious food! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our Valentine's Day dinner there and look forward to going back!

We were surprised and pleased to get a last-minute reservation for dinner on Valentines Day. The only seating available was at the bar, but the waitstaff was attentive and friendly and we enjoyed our meal very much. We particularly appreciated the waitress's willingness to ask questions of the chef to ensure that our choices were in fact vegetarian.

Our waitress did not know the menu, she suggested a pasta that turned out to be spinach balls. We were seated at the bar and on either side of us people were being served big steaks and my husband’s was more the size of a steak nugget. The aggravating thing was that it was a fixed price menu. So he paid the same price for 1/2 the price. This experience was not worth $75.

Best place in Richmond. The food, service, and ambiance set it apart from so many others in town.

The fondue appetizer, and entree were very good. I don’t like alcohol in my dessert, so we didn’t have one this time. It was rather loud, and the service was a little slow, because it was the day before Valentines.

I love this place. The ambiance is great and the menus, both food and cocktail, are fun and inventive. The service is very professional and friendly. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in Richmond.

Usually the food is great. The appetizer was really good (a variation of crab dip). Drinks were great, and the bartenders fantastic. The hamburger, however, was dry, smaller than usual, and with less cheese than is usual. Not my best meal there, and I eat there a lot.

The food was delicious! I would definitely dine here again. However, my husband thought it was over priced. I guess we disagree on this point. I think the burger was the best I’ve ever had.

My boyfriend and I had an interesting night at Brenner Pass last night. The restaurant is beautiful and the wait staff was very attentive. I ordered a glass of sparkling wine and the lasagne. The wine was great, but the lasagne was weird. Instead of layering the lasagne like how lasagne is usually made, they rolled it and put it in a dish so that the noodles were sticking out like a flower, and then baked it. 75% of the noodles were hard and semi burnt. The remaining 25% of noodle was underneath the hard noodle with the duck meat sauce that was very under seasoned. It also said in the menu that it came with mozzarella and béchamel. There were 3 dots of mozzarella on top and I only found a small amount of béchamel in the dish, after removing all of the hard, inedible noodles. I was disappointed so I shared the duck entree with my boyfriend. I got a cheese plate next, I told the waiter what I liked and he recommended three cheeses. They came with apples and a grapefruit preserve. The grapefruit preserve, to me, was inedible. It was so bitter. The apples were fresh and went well with the cheese and their house made crackers were very good. I order a cappuccino and that was delicious. The apple strudel was.. also interesting. The puff pastry was over fried on top of cold apples. I guess they were going for a deconstructed apple strudel. The gelato on top was really good and saved the dish. Overall, we had a good night but I was so disappointed with my entree. It sounded so good on the menu but fell short. I don’t know why the chef chose to make lasagne like that, why mess with something so classic? Wait staff were very kind and beautiful surroundings.
