Chair 5 at Break Hotel Ratings and Reviews
They only had a buffet, didn't say it was $35. Just a few items. Eggs were cold. Pancakes were cold and larger than the small plates made available. Weird. Sausages were cold. There was one piece of bacon in the tray. The waitress was very nice. Not the manager. He said: I understand the food is not up to your expectations. What? Who likes cold eggs and pancakes? Too many other better places nearby to ever go here again.
Chair 5 has combined a cool modern beach design with fusion food! Prices vary from inexpensive to pricey, and there is something on the menu for everyone. The fries are not to be missed, the fish tacos are delicious, and the wine, beer and cocktail menu are extensive. Highly recommend this bar and restaurant to anyone in the area!
Upscale beach vibe and delicious food! Alexa, our server, was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and very sweet to talk to. The frisee salad was simple but so yummy. I had the scallop special and they were cooked to perfection although I thought the broth was a little salty. The doughboy dessert was a great way to end the meal. And the blueberry gin cocktail was beautiful and tasty
food was great! waitress took our order in a timely manner. we waited 30 minutes for drinks to be brought to table while waitress Avianna held the tray with our drinks on it the whole time she chatted with a table across the room. i was ready to go and take the drinks from the tray when the table noticed us and said something to her.
Chair Five is beautiful and tucked away. The modern vibe is great, and the food is delicious and inventive. Try the clam chowder -- it's a delicious little cup that's thick and served with a clam on the shell. Also out of this world are any of their pasta and seafood entrees. Really fun and the wait staff is attentive and not overbearing. Love the fireplaces, the view of the hotel pool, all the modern touches.
So disappointing. The "roof deck" is really small and with not a great view (overlooks houses, then Point Judith) and the service is terrible. Both the waitresses on the roof and in the restaurant but friendly but clueless. We waited ages before getting anything - a drink, an app - despite the fact that there was only one other table in the restaurant. That in itself, the fact that the restaurant was completely dead on a Sunday night in the summer, was awkward. I was served gravlax in place of salmon sashimi. Nuf said.
We left without getting our meals, after sitting at our table for more than an hour and a half. We did receive our appetizers after 30 minutes; not sure what took so long since they were not cooked (raw shrimp and salmon crudo) When the people next to us who had been seated after us got their dinners, I chased down our waitress in the next room. She went to the kitchen, then told us they "lost our ticket." When we said we were leaving, she didn't even offer to comp us the appetizers. It was so late we feared we'd not find another place still serving, so we left without asking to speak with a manager.
Almost forgot: When we arrived we were told it would be a half hour wait for a table. We said no problem, went to the upstairs bar for a cocktail. It was so frickin loud I had to lean over the bar and speak into the bartender's ear. After 35 minutes we went back downstairs to see if we had much of a wait left. The hostess said "Oh, are you ready to be seated?" Should have been our first clue. Never again.
Second time I've been for dinner.
Food has been good both times.
We were there last Thursday night. Drinks on rooftop deck were dissapointing. Painkiller for $12.00 in a glass 3 inches tall! Really?
Mai tai was unknown to server so had to look up. Terrible! And small glass, way over priced.
I will have a cocktail elsewhere in future and just come for dinner.
This was our first time to Chair 5! We enjoyed our dinner very much. Great service and delicious food! We went upstairs to the rooftop bar for an after dinner drink. We were greeted by live music and a beautiful view of the ocean. We will definitely be back for more!
A wonderful experience from start to finish! The entire restaurant staff, from the hostess to the bartender and especially the wait staff was friendly, courteous and engaging. The view from the rooftop bar is great. The food is so delicious! Definitely worth a visit!!
Great bar and loved the decor. The food was inconsistent (tuna special was excellent, fish tempura was below average, entree salad with chicken was small, filet was good). Service was average overall - he tried too hard to be sophisticated, was a close-talker, and when we asked for the mushrooms that were supposed to be in one of the dishes, he said the chef swore that they were in there (how does one respond to that?) I would go back regularly to the upstairs bar where the bartenders were excellent, the specialty drinks were great, and the setting both inside and out were spectacular. Then, I would head elsewhere for dinner.
Oddly enough, Narragansett doesn't offer a lot for "good" dining - that is, if you want something other than fried seafood. The Break certainly fills a gap for slightly more creative dining in a much more hip atmosphere.
My wife had fish tacos while I had the burger, and both were good if not overly special. The cocktails were fine as well. Our young waiter needed some more experience before waiting in a restaurant of this quality.
Overall, it was good for Narragansett but the same restaurant in a more foodie city would be underwhelming.
We were very disappointed. Only 2 tables of people beside us Sunday night 6:30. Waitress said sorry we ran out of bread for the table "we had an event upstairs today" The drink didn't match the picture and obviously was missing a liquor. She said "hope its alright I had to make it myself bartender not here" The food tasted good but one person's lobster roll was 2 inches big ridiculous! Should have went to Iggy's. Our captains plate was such a ridiculous small plate. Very very disappointed.
My boyfriend and I typically love this place but unfortunately since the new chef came in, we were very disappointed to find such a drastic change in the menu. And our server was not that attentive to us. It's unlikely that we will return here for dinner. The rooftop bar, however, is definitely worth it as a pregame to dinner.
We were so pleasantly surprised to discover Chair 5 at The Break Hotel. The hotel is trendy and upscale with a Miami- South Beach vibe. Very nice bar area on the roof with excellent cocktails and great indoor and outdoor spaces. Hotel is a real gem with no competition for high end lodging nearby. The rooftop bar is a destination in itself but after a drink it's worth staying and eating downstairs at Chair 5. We live nearby but the atmosphere feels vacation-like with windows facing the pool area which is open year round. Food is very good and well prepared. Good menu choices with casual fare like burgers and fish & chips in addition to steaks, seafood and pasta. Something for everyone.
