Love coming here. Very good Italian food, moderately priced and nice atmosphere.
We came for late lunch with my friend visiting from out of town. The food was really tasty - homemade pasta and fresh burrata were my favorite! The server was very attentive, polite and gave good recommendations on the food. Great overall experience and would highly recommend. We will definitely check this place out for dinner.
My lunch at Bread & Tulips was most enjoyable. This was my second time being there for lunch. I would recommend this restaurant anytime.
Have a good day!!!
We were in NYC on vacation from the UK over New Year and staying at Hotel Giraffe. We were so glad we chose to see out 2018 and welcome in 2019 here as the prix fix menu choices were great and we could also see the chef preparing some of the food which added to the ambience. The bar lady was welcoming and accomodating of drink choices and very pleasant and the bar area gave us opportunity to meet other guests. There was a lovely atmosphere and we would definitely go back if in NYC again.
Lovely lovely spot. Feels special and romantic from the moment you walk in the door. Getting the "oooh wow" reaction out of my s/o usually costs me twice as much as dinner did at bread and tulips. Food was good, wine list was wonderful, service was great, ambiance was perfect.
Would definitely recommend for date night.
We dined here on a Saturday night and had no problem getting a reservation for 7pm. The food was delicious, however the portions were a little small for the price we paid. I guess that is typical for Manhattan. The restaurant was very quiet which we truly appreciated as we were there with friends and we wanted to be able to chat and catch up with each other without having to shout. Our server was attentive and did not rush us out, but she could have been a bit more friendly. Overall it was a nice experience.
Holiday lunch with friends.
We tried Bread & Tulips when it first opened in our neighborhood a few years ago, and we keep returning. The food is interesting and delicious. The wines are outstanding. The service is attentive and pleasant. The atmosphere is enjoyable and the decor is tasteful. It is our favorite Italian restaurant.
Loved, loved, loved it!
Just arrived from the UK and staying at the Giraffe so we are here. Very cosy atmosphere.
I planned a birthday for my aunt this past weekend at Bread and Tulip. I wanted to find an authentic italian restaurant in the Union Square area that had amazing food, but also offered an affordable and intimate experience for my family of all ages so we could hear eachother. They gave us a huge table in a private room that was incredibly special. It was a Saturday night so the restaurant was full of patrons, but wasn't too loud or crowded which is hard to come by in NYC. The service and food was exceptional. They let us sit there and chat for hours and hours without feeling rushed or pushing us to spend more money. The cocktails and wine were also fantastic. This place is outstanding, I'll definitely be coming back soon!
This was a delightful surprise having never come in before. It’s a nice quiet environment where a conversation can be had! Not always easy to find in Manhattan. The food was terrific and the wait staff excellent!
Went here with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. Not only was everything about the place amazing, but they even decorated a chalkboard painted bottle with “Happy Anniversary” on it. It was a very sweet touch. We had the handmade spaghetti aglio olio and the scallops with asparagus and started with olives and freshly made ricotta cheese with bread. The food was absolutely delicious! The cocktails are yummy too. We are definitely going back to try the rest of the menu.
This was my second visit. A great find! The service and the food are terrific.
I love Bread and Tulips because the food is delicious and the dining room is quiet enough for conversation. Lovely place to have dinner with a friend you want to talk to and not yell at over the music and noise!
The restaurant was lovely and really cool. The pizza was so fresh and so tasty
Everything was perfect...ambiance, service, food...a great place for a wonderful meal
We had a great dinner for my birthday at Bread & Tulips. They immediately greeted me and asked who’s birthday it was upon being seated. The food was delicious and pasta Is made fresh. We had the papadelle and squid ink pasta which was amazing. The bruschetta we had as a starter was delicious. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse cake and gelato. Everything was spot on and service was great. We also had a cute bottle with happy birthday and the dessert we ordered had a candle. Will definitely be back!
Sadly, Bread and Tulips was just meh. Maybe because it’s in a hotel or maybe because it’s below street level. The service was very nice but the food...my chicken was over cooked and my spouse didn’t live his pasta either. We wanted to try someplace new but Breas and Tulips didn’t establish themselves as a must-dine restaurant. Not terrible but there are many better Italian restaurants at the same price level.
Was looking for Italian near Flatiron for afterwork dinner celebration. Online they advertised restaurant week menu with a prime cut of steak. We arrived and were informed they didn’t have that menu for a couple of weeks. I was ok with that except they didn’t have any prime steak. Unfortunate as my husband won’t order steak if it is not. Server didn’t know what “prime” meant. Apps were good - meatballs and ricccotta. lacking in salt though. No salt or pepper offered. Main course came and no cutlery at first. Again no pepper offered - No cheese offered. Pasta was homemade - sauces were a little thin and lacking in bold flavor. It was good - but far from great. At one point it seemed that the manager (I’m guessing) took over our table. She dropped a dessert on the house which was a nice touch (it was our anniversary). All in all - we had a nice pleasant evening. But i would not go back.
Our team went out for lunch to celebrate a team members birthday. Food was great, it was pretty quiet at lunch time, and they went out of their way to make the birthday special. Couldn’t have asked for more!
Fairly good reviews probably led to high expectations, but mine weren’t met. Not bad but the Food was Not particularly tastefull and dessert was Not special at all.
This was a fantastic restaurant; I highly recommend the pastas as they are made at the restaurant. But in addition to the delicious food - everyone in the party loved their entrees and appetizers, when they asked me if this was a special occasion, I did not expect that the would seat us in a semi- private alcove and provide a complimentary desert with a candle. They also put a decorative happy birthday bottle on the table. It was just a nice touch. We didn't have desert there because we continued the celebration back at home. I would definitely recommend and we will go back!
Cibo buono e ben presentato
I wanted to like this place, its close to my apartment and had a cool decor but the food was mediocre at best; we actually couldn't finish it and ended up going back home and ordering out. Flatbread was bland and other dishes left much to the imagination.
I was very pleased with the food as well as the service.
Love this place. It's great for lunch and dinner. I've done business lunches, personal dining, etc. and our company has our holiday party here as well. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is great.
The regular menu is much better than that of Restaurant Week
Everything was incredible! My sister and I were visiting New York together and had a great experience and Bread and Tulips. My sister cannot eat gluten or dairy, but still had plenty of options and loved her food (especially the duck). I loved the arancini and scallops! The service was friendly and helpful, the restaurant was beautiful, and the noise level was perfect for conversation. You have to try it!
This is a hidden gem in the Hotel Giraffe. Quiet, the restaurant down the stairs has delicious food and a great staff.
Great food and service. It was our 2nd time going there, and we will be returning in the near future.
I was in town for business and Bread & Tulips was recommended by a student of mine- it did not disappoint! We were there during a very quiet Monday evening, our servers were attentive, and the food was very good. I had the "Purple Rain" drink, it was excellent, and the fettuccine carbonara. My boyfriend had the Quattro Formaggi pizza and it was also very good. We'd go back!
This place is truly amazing. My first experience here was with my coworker, and we immediately fell in love with its ambiance. It's so cute and romantic with a tulip on each table - I felt like I was having a date with my coworker! I had few birthday lunches here, and every time we came, they made every single effort to make it memorable. Their service is amazing - the staffs are super friendly, and chefs prepare the meals to your need. They have very good lunch special menus as well - my favorite is (gigantic) salad + (gigantic) pizza for $17.5. I usually can only finish half a pizza; it's that big! All the foods are so authentic and delicious; I tried Mushroom / Quattro Formaggi / Mortadella pizza before, and they were all delicious. All the dessert menus are amazing as well - tiramisu is highly recommended! I can only say good things about this restaurant - ambiance, service, food, price, and location - all are perfect.
We were celebrating my recent -college -grad son’s move into his apartment to start his first job. The taste, quality, freshness and presentation was superb. We cleaned our plates. Can’t wait to return. If you love italian inspired food you will be delighted here.
I brought my mom in from out of town and was looking for the perfect New York/Italian restaurant for dinner. Bread & Tulips exceeded our expectations—the pasta was phenomenal, the service gracious, and the cocktails superb. It’s an intimate dining experience that I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a comforting meal in the city or for those visiting.
Great low-key restaurant with delicious food!
Wonderful private room that accommodates 12 or so comfortably.
I found Bread and Tulips while looking for a moderately priced Italian Restaurant near the hotel I was staying in for a Bachelorette Party. I could not be more pleased with this choice. The food as absolutely incredible. The service was impeccable and we had such an AMAZING evening. Thank you so very much for making my best friend's night so special. I truly appreciated the little centerpiece they had on the table for us, it was such a nice touch. I have been raving about this place to everyone I speak to since I ate there on Friday night!
It was OK. Nothing special to mention. Food was tasty and portions big enough. I wouldn’t per say go out of my way to go back, but equally the pasta we had will not disappoint.
Absolutely wondeful! Food, service, ambiance was great!
