The staff was SO friendly & we were so blessed by the unexpected packing up of all those leftovers in such nice boxes! Excellent food & an all around wonderful experience! Thank you & Gig’Em!!!
Not your usual hotel food. The food was delicious, both innovative and traditional, fresh and every detail of planning and preparation shown in both the dining and the service. Top notch.
Food was pretty good. We ate the four course selection for Valentines Day. Food was good. The seating is not that great. We were put in a booth next to another table. I was closer to the other booth than the person next to me. Wait staff did a great job. Was not bad, we would go back for a special meal for sure.
It was ok. But when you spend 200 for dinner, you want it to be more than just ok. I have a few specific suggestions for managing they’d like to contact me directly.

Nice Valentine's Day option, only one I was able to secure about one week before 2/14. The ambience and service were good, but the food a disappointment. The plates were either too salty, or parts of the plate were cold (like they have been previously prepared and refrigerated and not warmed up properly), even the biscuits we got at the beginning were underdone. We really try to like this place (this was not our first time there), but we are never fully satisfied with the meals.
The food was bland. My wife’s meal was not cooked and had to be sent back. The waiter complained the whole time about the management. The steak was tough and lacked flavor. The lobster tail was very small, rubbery and cold. We were told they were known for their honey-infused fried chicken. The chicken was bland and tasted like bleach.
The menu was a preset menu for valentines days which you would expect to be their best dishes. NOPE. The only thing that had any flavor was the tortilla soup. Finally, we get to the dessert and it wasn’t even cooked! Raw fruit mixed some semi cooked fruit.
Overall, we had a good experience having a valentine's day couple dinner at Brazos-Proper Texas Kitchen. We sat at a 2 person table right next to the kitchen / serving station and it was loud. If we go back, I will definitely request a quieter table. The food was very good. I had the Wagyu Beef Brisket which was just a little too dry, but was fixed by adding more BBQ sauce. The potato salad that came with it was awesome. My wife had the steak filet and was happy with it. We each had the strawberry cobbler which was just OK for us but I could tell other people liked it. The pricing was very reasonable considering it was for a 4 course meal for 2 people.
Terrible wait staff. Awful service. Decent food. Overall, a 2/10 experience at best.
We went for brunch on 12/29. It was very confusing because the main door was completely shut and we had to go through the diner to get to our seating. It was very empty, which is to be expected over winter break. The server was attentive for the most part. My mom got the pancakes and really enjoyed them. My wife got the chilequiles and felt as though they were prepared first because some of the chips were soggy and others were crunchy. I got the French toast and it was not what I expected from reading the menu. It was good, just not what I expected. I also wish there were alternatives such as turkey bacon/sausage or veggie sausage. We had mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. The drinks were very good.
Breakfast with Santa was so fun! We will definitely be back next year! Santa’s elves were all so friendly and the grandkids loved it!
Great experience. Wait staff was fantastic! The activities were great, and the crowd was just right for it to be intimate but not silent. Kids had a blast with all the activities. There could have been more food options for the price. It was your standard spread but I expected more for the price but all the included activities made up for it.
I hate to criticize this as I love A&M and wanted this to be a signature-dining experience. There was no host at the entrance, and upon seating wasn’t told it was a buffet or who our server would be. The server was very nice, but slightly confused. We had to coax the explanation of the procedure from her. The food was mixed - the short ribs were seasoned well and excellent overall. The snapper was supposedly blackened, but was rather bland. The smoked turkey and dressing was tasty, but the serving rings were the wrong style and stayed full of compacted dressing from previous guests. Same with the garlic mashed potatoes - the spoon sitting outside the chafing dish was full of dried out potato. I made a point to loudly slam the spoon on the chafing dish clearing it out to get some notice (like saying “ahem”). The potatoes were also not completely mashed. My wife reported she would hesitate to call them mashed. Green beans were tasty, bacon a little bland. The wide assortment of greens were rather wilted. The salad dressings and vinegars were on the opposite side next to the desserts (weird, right?) and unlabeled. A balsamic dressing was the consistency of chocolate pudding. The “warm bread pudding” was on a warming tray that they neglected to plug in. I plugged it in and let the server know - she was embarrassed and said they had forgotten apparently.
The food with a little oversight could have been good to excellent, and the servers were very willing. I believe even myself with no restaurant experience but as an owner of businesses could go into this restaurant and quickly bring it up a star or two. Attention to details and staff training. A disappointment overall, but still with potential.
Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa was wonderful! Our gluten free friend had plenty to choose from. Will be back!
We stayed at the A&M Hotel and we celebrated Thanksgiving @ Brazos! The service was outstanding and people were very friendly. My husband was shock when we got our bill! They only charge us for 1 out of 4 guest! Also they even gave us complimentary cappuccino the next day while we had our buffet breakfast which also outstanding.
Thanksgiving dinner buffet was better than expected. The food was deliciously prepared and service was great. Our table of 8 plus a 16 month old baby were all greatly pleased that I had booked us to the hotel and restaurant.
Beautiful ambiance but they were not prepared to host a Thanksgiving Day buffet. The "hot" food was cold, the "medium rare" roast beef was RAW. The cost of almost $40 per person was most definitely not worth what I ate, as most of the hot food was not edible. The salad bar was great and had many choices. Also, what king od Thanksgiving Day buffet doesn't serve sweet potatoes?
We were not aware the posted lunch menu would not be available. While the salad bar was good, I expected the choice of entree for my meal.
WAY overpriced buffet. We should have left but we had just finished up with Aggie ring day and it was getting late.
The server was very polite and friendly and but none of the staff seemed to be aware of how to serve a table.
We ate at the buffet after a football game while we waited for the traffic to diminish. Really nice experience!
A buffet for OPAS. Heavy on meats only one hot vegetable. Lovely salad bar. Many items mislabeled. Limited desserts. The big plus is that there is someplace on campus to eat before the performance. Down side is that this restaurant shifts hours so much it is difficult to know if they are open and what the menu is. Hope they continue so that we can eat and go straight to performance. $26 for the buffet incl beverage.
More selections and an omelet bar would have been nice. Pricey for what I got. $18
They called and left vm stating chef had decided to close kitchen so were cancelling our 11:30 am reservation. Unfortunately, that was 2 hours before we were supposed to show up and celebrate my mothers 84th birthday. Very unprofessional. When I called to discuss at 9:45 am, they could not get restaurant to take call. I asked for manager to please call to discuss, they never called me back.
Now, only open on weekends for breakfast, the buffet is a welcomed addition. Not as extensive as the brunch menu, it was good. They need to refresh the buffet more often as many items were either out or close to out. Chef's choice eggs were scrambled with cheese...very fluffy! Blueberry french toast casserole good too! Cost overall a bargain.
Like other reviewers said- food was overly salty. The biscuits were good. Wait staff need serious training. Did not know the menu, what was included with entree, etc. Got bill wrong. Blame management, not waiter.
Actually, it was closed even though we had reservations, but they sent us upstairs and treated us royally!
We went for Father's Day 2019 after going on Mother's Day. Less crowded which is a good thing. Fewer menu choices but better dessert selection and more entrees that I really liked! Boiled shrimp always great! Omelet bar exceptional. Husband really liked the bacon! Apple cobbler could use some ice cream and the bread pudding needs a butter rum sauce. But overall, very happy to hear they now pay parking and will serve a brunch on Sunday every week. Superb!!!!!
The sign at the entrance said open at 11:30 but didn’t actually open until noon due to special Father’s Day brunch. Had a reservation but staff that seated us didn’t complete reservation confirmation once we arrived so we got an email from Open Table saying we didn’t show up. Staff seemed nervous and following a script when talking to customers. Initially no one at omelet station. Ordered a bacon and cheese omelet, received ham and cheese. Apple cobbler had been cooked into submission and was more like applesauce. Shrimp was really good, however. Fruit was fresh. Nice buffet selection but way overpriced.
Father’s Day Brunch was outstanding! Always a great brunch - best of best is only enhanced by valet parking and Aggie atmosphere! We love everything about all the choices, the freshness and the plain deliciousness!!! We go at least once a month!
The restaurant is listed as "fine dining". A mediocre buffet is not fine dining.
Taco buffet for $25, food taste horrible
Went for Mother's Day brunch. Great variety and service!
Buffet was fair at best. Very few choices and quality was fair. Service was very minimal. This restaurant isn’t on par with this hotel. Best to go to another option or have dinner up in the bar area. Not a good choice. We won’t be back.
Amazing atmosphere and eager service but the food needs major improvement. Manager said they were working on the menu so hopefully will improve so it can be an addition to Aggieland.
Expected a more fine-dining experience for my graduation lunch, however, the food served consisted of hamburgers and baked beans. The service was good, just disappointed in the food options.
It was a buffet and we were expecting the menu that showed on Open Table. We waited 15 minutes before I had to go and ask about our waiter. Food on the buffet was just ok. I would have never booked had I known about the buffet.
While the food was good, I had a reservation and was moved to to bar floor for some reason. That was fine, but there was no table reserved for us once we got there. Furthermore, the staff did not pay attention to us except to give us our food. In the end we were tired of waiting for the check so I walked over and asked them for it. I am a student here on campus and I feel like we were not treated the same as the other members. Disappointed in our first and only time to go.
Even though I made a reservation over a week before the dinner, I got a call the day of the reservation saying that they don't have enough servers and our only option was to be booted to the bar area. So instead of the nice upscale restaurant that I reserved to celebrate our anniversary, we were seated in a sports bar. Service was terrible, they forgot about our appetizer and when they finally served the entrees after almost an hour, they informed us that the biscuits are still not ready. By the time we finished eating, there was still no sign of the biscuits so I told them not to bother. Needless to say no effort was made in any way to make up for it or comp the part of our meal that we didn't receive. The food was delicious, but for the price and location of the restaurant we expected better service. Much better.
