BRAVO Cucina Italiana - Des Moines - Jordan Creek
My only complaint is that I received my water, my drink, my bead, my salad and my entrée at nearly the same time; also, refilling water glass took a long time. The table next to me received a second order of bread before I received my first - same waitress; table on other side who came in quite a few minutes after me received their water/drinks same time I did - same waitress.
I kind of felt it had to do with me being a single rather than a couple.
Birthday and ice cream...
Good food, consistent quality. Great for a date. Looks fancy inside, but pretty casual. This location has a nice patio in the afternoon out of the sun that looks over the lake at Jordan Creek. Great drink menu. I would have rated the staff higher, but the night we dined here last, it was busy and they were pretty under staffed. But I will go there again. Nice location and great tasting food.
We enjoyed a late evening meal on the patio, topped off by tiramisu. Lovely.
Wonderful restaurant to enjoy a fabulous meal. Food was top notch. Service was outstanding. Sarah our server was the best ever! She made the night a perfect dinner experience with her smile and attentiveness.
This was our first time to eat here. We will be back.
Our waiter was awesome!
Love the food, the new lite menu is fresh and tastes amazing. Been here before and always find myself coming back. Think the prices are a touch high, spent over $60 for dinner for 2 people which is quite pricey for Des Moines. Best ambience in the Des Moines area in my opinion, perfect for a date or just wanting to talk with your friends/family without having to talk over one another to hear. Highly recommend!
Not sure what has happened to Bravo West Des Moines. Used to be outstanding in every way.
Now, they take reservations on Opentable and by phone and then do not honor them. This occurs when there are many open tables in restaurant and when you enquire why, they state they do not have enough wait staff to seat the tables. And, that is painfully obvious when you do eventually get seated; takes forever for cocktail and service overall very slow and servers appear frazzled. The front hostess stand literally appears to now be in utter state of confusion.
Clearly there has been something which has occurred here, likely a change in management and cutting staff costs. Used to dine there regularly, however it will be off our list for awhile until they work through their issues. There are many other choices for dining which provide much better service to their patrons.
Very well prepared food, we ate the grilled shrimp with orzo and grilled salmon on spinach and asparagus. Service needs improvement. Our waiter had to be prompted to bring Parmesan cheese but was attentive otherwise.
Our waitress, Cheyenne (not sure of her spelling) was excellent. Loved her personality and attention. We were on the patio and it was a nice evening with good food, friends and service!
After we were seated by the host we waited 15 minutes and had no water, no wine, and no server. Apparently the server decided that 6:30 on a Saturday night would be a good time to walk out. The restaurant was half empty. We were told that there were not enough servers to open those sections.
We will not go back for a long time. The four of us dine out very regularly. We agreed that it looked like a restaurant that is about to close. Even the menu was not as extensive as it used to be and on that night the food matched the bad experience of the place.
We have been customers of this location for several years and all four of us thought it was the worst experience we've had.
The only plus for the evening was the performance of the hostess. She worked hard to manage customers who were upset.
Quality of food and service has gone way down while prices have gone up. I thought the last visit was a fluke, but it wasn't. I won't be back.
Good food, excellent service, very pricey and speaker music was too loud
Bravo always provides great alternatives, excellent food, and superb service. Definitely a “go to” eatery!
Awesome place to eat!
Server was not attentive. Our soup was served before our drinks arrived. Bar order was checked on twice before being served. Oil was brought to the table but not bread. Server did not check on us until we were halfway finished with the entree. When I requested bread he mumbled that he would “bring more”. I pointed out that it wasn’t a matter of “more” but that we hadn’t been served any at all. I would not return.
We eat at Bravo often. Entrees are getting smaller, especially spaghetti & lasagna portions. Really? The pasta is he least expensive part of meal. Plates hot but food only warm. Spoons not served with spaghetti automatically. Tasty recipes. Server asked to refill soda, said yes, but never did it.
The food and service was great! Had a few shareable appetizers and drinks, everything was timely and delicious. Our server was attentive.
After making reservations while on the road to the restaurant we arrive a few minutes early for reservation time. It took about 15 minutes to get seated. I found that odd as it didn’t seem that busy. When we were told our table was ready I found that an entire half of the restaurant was not in use... once we sat down we had to wait 10 minutes on bread and when it arrived it was 3 little pieces. We arrived and ordered our food before our neighbors seated around us but got our food well after theirs had arrived. Overall it has REALLY gone down hill and I would be embarrassed to bring any of my business meeting or family here.
our drinks were bad as bartender did not know how to make a very simple Cosmo but our waitress was even worse, we finally left. this was one of our go to places not anymore
While the portions here have shrunk over the years, still a good value with high quality ingredients. Salmon is so good here. A+
Service and food was excellant. Waitress was so fun. Bringing your own wine is so nice. I spoke with one of your hardest workers that buses tables. Think he has been there 10 plus years. You are my favorite place to celebrate my birthday.
Food was great! The hostess was wonderful to my husband!!! Was very warm, didn't feel like they turned the AC on soon enough
Everything was wonderful! At first service was a little slow getting our drinks due to a new bartender working, but overall the food was amazing. Are waiter stayed kept coming to check on us and made sure we was satisfied. My family and I will be back!
We made reservations for mid-afternoon on a Sunday. It wasn't very busy at all and we were seated pretty much right away. However, once we got to our table, we sat for at least 10 minutes before a server finally approached us, told us she wasn't our server, but asked if we had been helped yet. When we said no, she asked if she could get us drinks while we waited. Eventually she came back with our water and let us know that bread was in the oven and would be out soon. There was no further mention of our elusive actual server and she waited on us for the remained of our meal. She apologized and said the manager was going to stop by to address the poor service. No manager ever stopped by. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and so we were both really excited for our meals. However, when the meals came we were both disappointed. I ordered the Chicken Caprese which boasted on the menu of fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, fresh tomato, and a pesto sauce. When the plate was set before me there was no evidence of ANY fresh mozzarella in or on the dish anywhere. When I asked the server if it was supposed to come with fresh mozzarella, she said a little was mixed into the pasta. I never found a piece of fresh mozzarella in my poorly seasoned, barely sauced pasta. It literally tasted like they had dumped sauce out of a jar for the pasta sauce. There was a fair amount of fresh basil on the plate and I finally found two cherry tomatoes under my chicken. As for the pesto sauce, there appeared to be a little pesto on the grilled chicken, but the flavor of pesto was barely present. My husband's meal was okay, but nothing special about it. He did find a couple of pieces of bones in his chicken though. Literally as soon as we walked out of the restaurant, we simultaneously said we were never going there again.
Tried this place one more time. Never again. This place will close soon
Service was slow but good. Food was good but pricey. Really like having the calories listed on each item on the menu. Overall ambiance is great.
It's hard to beat sitting on their patio overlooking the lake at Jordan Creek on a beautiful summer evening. Delicious cocktails, appetizer and dinners made for a wonderful experience. The server was very friendly, too. Just a small misstep initially, as we didn't have utensils or napkins for our appetizer and had to flad somebody down. Otherwise, very good.
Every time we eat here there is an issue. The food is over priced for what you get and the service is overall terrible. Will not go again.
We had very poor customer service. I had requested a table for 6 and they placed us in a very windy spot. We asked to be moved to a better non-windy spot which they did. But we had to wait forever to have someone wait on us and get all the necessary plates. It was a disappointing experience especially because I had planned the reservation so far ahead.
Loved Bravo! Great for a family get together!! Food was absolutely amazing and delicious!!
We were very disappointed in the service. It took 15 minutes to get water and 20 minutes to get fresh bread. We even had to go ask for to-go containers and our ticket. We will not be back.
The server we had was rude, unprofessional, and impersonal. There were tables being served food before us, even though we ordered before them, also I had to ask our server to wash his hands after I seen him rubbing his fingers through his hair he got offended as it seemed. I have previous restaurant experience for over 20 years. Great customer service is a must or you will loose customers, I am very disappointed the service we received.
The biggest issue I have with this place or my luck with this place is their running out of Entrees during normal dinner hours. Lasagna seems to me should always be available through dinner and yet twice, I have gone, ordered Lasagna and then had the server come back to tell me they were out. This last time, I switched to Chicken Parm and it came out dry.
We were there for their Mother’s Day Brunch and were disappointed in the lack of brunch menu items. I believe there were only four or five options to choose from or you could order from their standard menu. We asked for jam for the toast and was told they don’t have any. The Pasta Bravo was lacking in flavor and the Bolognese was mediocre. The service was decent although our server was loud and seemed a little out of her element. The desserts were the highlight of the meal with the caramel cheesecake the clear winner. The bruleed caramel was a nice touch. Overall, I don’t recommend Bravo as a brunch destination. It was a letdown.
Always a pleasant experience. Our go-to place for special events.
We went to Bravo for Mothers Day brunch. We would have liked a little larger menu of breakfast items to choose from but the three were excellent
Maybe it was an off night but it took 40 minutes to get our drink order. Food was just ok.
