We were very disappointed. It is presented as a fine dining restaurant but it is casual and noisy with fine dining prices. The staff are trying hard but they are not well trained and don't understand how a fine dining restaurant works, can't pour wine properly, took plates away before we were finished etc. The menu was interesting and the food was generally good but plating was very strange, my tomato salad was served on a plate the size of a saucer. When we arrived the music was as loud as in a bar, thankfully they turned it down, the room is all hard surfaces and very noisy. I think they have to do alot of rethinking to bring it in line with other fine dining restaurants in the market. At this point I would not recommend making a reservation. B
Great dining experience! The food was phenomenal- now my favourite steak experience in Canada (filet minion). Red eye sauce was a bit overly salty but in the overall food critique, it was the one small thing that needed tweaking. My only lowered star rating(4 stars) was for service because we had a reservation and the table was not ready at the reservation time so we awkwardly stood at the hostess table feeling in the way of other people arriving but the hostess and lady seating us just told us to wait & we didn’t realize it would be more than just a few minutes. It would have been a bit more pleasant to have seated us at the bar (or suggested we seat ourselves in the bar area) and have a drink while they prepared our table. 15 minutes is a longer period of time to be awkwardly standing at the front desk (no seats/ benches there) not knowing how much longer we would be waiting.
Other than that, fabulous experience- I’ve already recommended it to others & will be back!
Best steak I've ever had. Crab, shrimp and haddock cake was delicious and came very quickly. The filet that I had and the New York strip my husband ordered were perfection. The wild mushroom side was also very tasty and you MUST try the peppercorn bourbon sauce. Cap it off with the philo wrapped cheesecake and it was handily the best overall meal we've had in a long time. The food prices are pretty standard for a high end steak place, I did find the wine prices to be a little much but good selection for what we wanted. Friendly and timely service. It's on the louder side for sure, especially once it starts to get busier but we were able to converse without telling. Overall, great experience and will be back for sure.
Waited 15 min to get seated on a reso-yet it wad not busy. First drinks took over 5 min-waitress said bar was busy but it sure wasn't when we walked passed it while coming in? Sea food platter wreaked of fish; I guess they add fish oil? (we barely touched it only ate the few shrimp on it) the tartar I had to spit out onto my napkin; even it had strange mix of fruit? or seeds? Also all the ice on the platter started leaking all over our table and onto our pants. Sashimi appie was good.. 14oz MR steak took a while, was extremely fatty and over salted, despite addressing all concerns to our waitress the manager didnt come over, only when we called him over to bring us drinks. (maybe our waitress didnt say anything) Nothing was comped bit she did say she would give our feedback to her superiors. I also had a bad experience 4 weeks ago, came for a bday but I didnt write a review to give them benefit of the doubt and to work out their kinks .. but no improvement has been made.
The food was delicious and the service was amazing. The food is a little pricey but definitely worth it. We did have to wait about 15 min to be seated despite having a reservation but that was the only thing that wasn’t 100% perfect!
Amazing experience, definitely going back! Amazing experience, definitely going back!Amazing experience, definitely going back!Amazing experience, definitely going back!
Greqt food. A bit noisy on game night.
Had booked for birthday 6 weeks earlier and when we arrived we were seated in a high traffic area. Took awhile to get service...as the evening progress our waiter at no time asked how our food was. We ordered appetizer and the prix fix menu. The food was really good but my GF salmon was very much on the raw side and was a bit disappointed. There were other little issues that came about throughout our evening too much to elaborate but we did talk with the manager and he took care of the bill and offered for us to come back and he would take care of us.
Overall the food was really good with some exceptions. I found the price very much on the high side for the experience we received... would we go back...well since we were given an opportunity by the manager to come back we are going to take it but if not for that we would not go back.
Food and service was excellent! Really noisy...hard to have a conversation
Service was phenomenal as well as the food !
We went for anniversary which was acknowledged on arrival. We ordered Chateaubriand and mashed potatoes meal arrived lukewarm and we returned it. Came back still not hot quality excellent but disappointed at temperature. Nothing done about issues or anniversary. Very disappointing.
The level of service did not equate to a fine dining experience.
The food could have been fantastic but two of the four dishes we ordered were cold. Our drinks sat empty for too long. We couldn’t even get a water refill from someone.
This really could have been a great experience but sadly due to the lack of service it really wasn’t.
Braven is an amazing restaurant where the food is fantastic, and the service is top Level!
although our server was wonderful and attentive nothing else was good. Noise level was so loud I had a hard time hearing the conversation at my own table. most of the food was cold. our pre diner drinks arrived with supper and we had a bottle of wine breathing to go with supper. so that does not work. we will not be back.
Nice ingredients, pretty plates, lacking flavour and seasoning. Very slow bar service. Nice room
We went for our Anniversary and had a wonderful dinner. Nick, our server was so helpful and Adam, the manager was great. We didn’t like the table we got initially as it was at the very back and we wanted something more in the middle of the restaurant so we could both enjoy the view. Adam was able to accommodate quickly. The Cod is a must try and delivers amazing flavour as one of their signature dishes. I can only comment on 2 minor details that fell just a bit short for me. The hostess didn’t offer to take my coat, and told me I could hang it up myself on the rack. Not expected for this kind of restaurant. The second would be the sticky toffee pudding for dessert - overly sweet and rich, and I thought they would have comp’d it as they knew it was our anniversary. Both very minor details in comparison to the overall wonderful expose had! We will be back, and we look forward to seeing Nick and Adam!
The noise from the bar night club was horrible we could not chat ridiculous spoiled the entire evening
Loved it, food is great, service is always very inviting and helpful.
We really enjoyed our experience, amazing atmosphere, and our server was truly outstanding! The grilled chicken(on bone) I had was severely over cooked and difficult to eat, and rice pilaf felt very dry as well, quite underwhelming... however the remainder of the dishes were very good! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the short rib/Polenta dish, and the tomato/burrata salad was excellent!
Food was awesome. Went for my husband's birthday. Ordered the cheesecake after, which was the best dessert I've ever had. Warm melted cheesecake inside a phylo pastry. They didn't charge us for it either - super nice of them. We'll definitely come back.
Great atmosphere, but service was terrible. 2 hours and 45 minutes for 6 people to eat dinner. Had to wait 20 minutes at times after ordering a drink or waiting for a wine top up. Food was average.
We absolutely loved celebrating our anniversary here. The food was so delicious and our server was very accommodating. I can’t wait to come back!
Value relative to cost is not great. For the quality of the meal and the quantity relative to price, overall cost was excessive.
We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary with dinner at Braven. It was the perfect venue for such a beautiful occasion. Fine dining all the way. The atmosphere is spectacular. Loved the music! The food was delicious and our servers were exceptional. They went above and beyond for us. Friendly and professional. We were given a special dessert in honour of our anniversary, unexpected and very much appreciated. We were totally spoiled. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Braven to others. Thank you for making our 45th extra special.
Unbelievably wonderful dining experience . Superb service and ambiance. Excellent menu
Overall the food was fantastic. Only exception was my prime rib - literally the worst I’ve ever had. It was very gristley. Also, I ordered medium rare, and about have of it was rare, bordering on cold blue. The waitress we had was terrible - not even close to what I would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. She was very awkward, had to be reminded to ask us how we wanted out meat, and to top things off she spilled our wine on me. Although apologetic, the, so called, manager wasn’t much better. Offered her card for dry cleaning. Also, while the staff was dressed well, the manager looked unprofessional. They did take $20 worth of cocktails off of the almost $300 bill, while spilling a good portion of the $70 wine on me.
Will definitely give them another chance, only because most of the food was amazing.
Food was excellent, server was great but there was multiple problems with drink orders, often the waitress coming back after 10 or 15 minutes to tell us a drink was not available. Given this is the second time this had happened to us at Braven, it seems like the place could really benefit from greatly improved management, as it’s otherwise a really promising place.
We could smell the raw food and when we asked to be moved
They didn’t want to accommodate. The stuff was not welcoming at all. We had to call the like 4 different times to get service. Was very disappointed with the service.
Bad experience for sure
Service was extremely slow. Food was quite decent. Seasoned really well and the maple butter was great. It was game night so many of the items were missing, the foie gras French toast was one of things I was looking forward to but wasn’t available. It should be stated that game night has a different menu on their website
Food was great but service was slow, hockey game nights need more staff to accommodate the rush and time constraint most people will have.
Great location, great service, prices are reasonable. Would definitely return!
Food was excellent, $70 for two people for lunch is a little steep though.
Good venue with amazing food. The set up is very beautiful and staff is very friendly and professional.
This is supposed to be a fine dining restaurant but the food quality was disappointing. The kitchen was not busy since we went there early Sun night. Basically it's a place for its ambiance. great for big groups or events. Service was good but kinda annoying when we got interrupted so many times by different staff. It was overwhelming and we felt like we had to get the bill and leave since staff kept checking on us. The worst part was the food itself. mediocre and over priced. my friend should have sent her main course back to the kitchen but she didn't want to bother. the pasta wasn't cooked properly. sorry that we will not return.
Food is tasty, staff is great , pricey though especially for what you get but good atmosphere and classy.
Fantastic addition to the Edmonton food scene and a great enhancement to our downtown. Braven is a first class restaurant, but the price of two salads and a bottle of water were higher than I paid last week in London.
Our wait staff was excellent. There were a few minor growing pains, but that is to be expected with anything new that has only been open for a few months.
I will be back for sure!
We had a group of 20 and 1 server. Drinks took a while but I feel its because the bar was busy, she was friendly though. My Moscow mule was too sweet for my tastes but presentation was good ($14) Food was good but fairly expensive and meals were very small for the price i.e Burrata and Tomato salad was on a plate as small as a coffee cup holder Lol ( we shared appies) Jumbo Shrimp was 5 pieces ($22) Skinny fries were amazing, Artichoke and parm dip IMO wasn't creamy enough it had too many veggies in it what I think was spinach? I saw a friends steak was cooked beautifully ..Didn't hear any complaints from the other.. and they spoiled our birthday girls with beautiful desert Sundays. I'm not complaining as much as I am stating facts. After dinner we went to the bar and it was impossible to get a drink so we ended up leaving. The ambiance is beautiful, decor is amazing and complimentary, this is what Edmonton needs with a few tweaks I'm sure they will be great.- will be back
Food was good, not anything out of this world. We were seated at the worst table, basically right next to the open door to the kitchen. Service was slow at the beginning. Husband steak was cold (they did come by quickly and heat of grill fast though, but for a $60 cut of meat ... They kinda blew it. ) Nice decor, lobby bar had great service ! Probably just go back to the lobby bar to be honest
