Brauhaus Schmitz fue nominado en 3 categorías de “Best of” por el Philadelphia Magazine en su edición anual “Best of Philly”. El restaurante abrió sus puertas en el 2009 y ha devuelto el amor que siente la ciudad por su herencia étnica al dar a conocer la gastronomía de sus antepasados a toda una generación de habitantes de Filadelfia. Hager es además el propietario del Wursthaus Schmitz en el histórico Reading Terminal Market, una tienda de sándwiches y embutidos especializada en platillos preparados al momento y productos estilo alemán que se venden por peso. Hager sigue aumentando la variedad de su destacada carta de cervezas para complementar la tan aclamada gastronomía de Brauhaus. Hager obtiene de Alemania 29 de sus 30 cervezas de barril, producto de las relaciones que creó con los cerveceros durante sus visitas a esa nación, y muchas de estas variedades no se ofrecen en ningún otro lugar de la ciudad, el estado e incluso el país.     We went early 4:30pm to enjoy a family of 7 celebratory meal. Sat us right away. Service was very friendly, quick, and checking in regularly to see if we needed anything. Food was good with reasonable portions and fairly priced. Beer selection amazing! We’re definitely coming back. A lot of parking attendants writing tickets so go for a nearby garage and avoid any hassle

    The food, service and ambience was first class. We’ve lived in several mid-west towns that had excellent German food (also lived in Germany for a number of years). Outstanding. Highly recommend. Our waiter was A+.

    Service was outstanding. Everyone from the greeter to the wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food was great. Beer selection was top notch. We had a wonderful experience. Would go back again and again. Highly recommended.

    Great authentic German food. We had the Schweinehaxe, Schnitzel, and Pretzel—everything tasted just like back home in Germany. Will definitely come again.

    We had a great meal at Brauhaus Schmitz! We were seated in a back room which was nice and quiet. There were 6 of us, celebrating my husband’s birthday. The food was excellent and our server, whose name I can’t recall, was the best! He was aware of anything we needed, super friendly and had some great suggestions for the menu. Highly recommend!

    Grateful for such an accommodating staff to host my husband’s birthday party celebration for 15people. Wonderful beer selection & food in a laid back, bier hall atmosphere. Thanks!

    The potato pancakes were bland. Wurste were fine. Kasseler was great. Riesling was tasteless. Kölsch and weihenstephan bier were very tasty.

    The food was very good but the service was slow. They were out of 3 different beers we tried to order and one of the desserts. Kind of disappointing for a place that brags about their beer selection.

    Our server, Declan, was great. He was very attentive, but not too much, and knowledgeable as we had some food allergies. His beer reccommendations were spot on. The food was great as always!
