Belgian
We are a casual, European-inspired neighborhood brasserie located on Madison’s historic Monroe Street. Our concept is really pretty simple. It was borne out of the passion for the French Joie de Vivre developed over years spent in France and Belgium, and combines our love of rustic French food paired with Belgian beer and noble wines.

Chef Chris Murfield and his staff prepare all food from scratch, using fresh, high-quality ingredients. While we are inspired globally, we source locally, with meats, produce, and cheeses often delivered directly from the Farmers and Artisans themselves. For the fall, we will be offering a few signature items and family meal kits available for ordering online and by phone.

An interesting restaurant with a rotating menu - limited selections (a good thing), and understated location, with constantly wonderful outcomes.

Best frites in Madison Wisconsin. My wife always gets the Moule Et Frites and glass of French wine. Everything taste like spring with the asparagus soup, and the Spring salad with the sliced strawberries on mixed greens. The rhubarb-ginger vinaigrette complimented the salad perfectly. Don’t for get to try a sandwiches.....

Eating out at Brasserie V as the pandemic (hopefully) winds down was a treat. First off they were very careful to seat parties correctly. We felt very comfortable. The beer selection was great. The food was good all around. Mussels and fries were particularly good.
We were just in town for a visit so won't return regularly but would if we lived in Madison!

I tried the lamb stew, it was great. I even got two of my other diners to try it and neither likes lamb and they loved it. A real hit.

Our favorite place! Nice to be back in person for dining. As always phenomenal food and beer. Service can’t be beat. They know us by name-even after months of being apart.

We felt safe, welcomed and were more than satisfied with our recent dinner out (for the first time in a long time!). We picked the right spot: the food (cheeseboard, frites and V burgers) was excellent, the beer list was amazing and the staff were friendly and adherent to Dane County safety measures. We really enjoyed our evening.

Limited menu and they were out of multiple entrees, but the steak frite was delicious. I will definitely return again.

So glad they are back open! Even if no full tap selection, completely understandable.

So glad, we can dine inside again. The soups and sandwiches are always great! Asparagus soup tasted just like spring. In my opinion, The best frites in Madison, Wisconsin.
