I go to this restaurant often. The food is very good the service attentive and ambience is lively. I highly recommend as it has a broad menu that always satisfies many peoples tastes.
Our food was absolutely amazing and the staff was very friendly. It wasn’t very busy in the restaurant which was nice because it wasn’t too noisy, but the ambiance would have been enhanced if the restaurant was busier because it is a large restaurant.
That to be said, I will be dreaming about the Wiener schnitzel (a special on Thursdays) for years to come. The most authentic rendition I’ve ever had outside of Europe. Loved it!
Great place for a business lunch or an evening in New York. Food is excellent, the service is on point and the
location the best...
Not helpful staff and expensive and mediocre food. Still great location. A bit of a waste
My friend and I visited Brasserie Ruhlmann for drinks & food before a concert. It was close to Radio City and I knew it wouldn't be packed. We sat at the bar and had fantastic service and great conversation with Maryanne (bartender)). She made great martinis and was very friendly. The host (Raoul) was the perfect gentleman. He came over to ask how we were doing more than once which was very nice of him. We shared the yellow fin tuna tacos, the mini croques, the hand cut fries and the fried rock shrimp. I wish the tuna tacos had more flavor but everything else was great. I would repeat my order (minus the tacos) and maybe try a sushi roll the next time. Aside from the food, the restaurant was clean and staff well kept. They could use an update on the bathroom decor but overall, no complaints. The bar chairs were incredibly comfortable!! The restaurant was completely empty when we left but I wasn't shocked as the area is quiet after the holidays. This will definitely be my go-to spot before concerts!!
We went on a Saturday night we were one of 5 tables occupied. The place was dead, our waitress said no one comes during the weekend which we didn’t know. We normally have lunch there which is very good.
She even said they shouldn’t be open during the weekend. I wouldn’t recommend dining here on weekend nights. The food was average not very many options if you are gluten free or a Vegetarian.
One of our favorite NYC restaurants, Brasserie Ruhlmann continues to deliver white table cloth service in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere.
Although I had made a reservation 6 weeks in advance, we were seated at a table that is essentially for walk ins and is situated near a main the alleyway for guests and waiters to move around - we were constantly bumped and pushed in to. Management was beyond rude and argued with me in front of my business guests when I requested to be moved to another more convinient table. They claimed they "called me" which is true but in their voicemails confirming the reservation there was no mention that we would be seated at the worst table in the entire restaurant. I used to be a proud patron of the restaurant in the past but will never take anyone there again and will not return- the staff needs a training on how to behave and respond respectfully to guests and there needs to be much clearer policy around where guests will be seated when they do/ do not make reservations. I felt belittled and extremely disrespected by the hostess and the manager. Horrible experience.
Always enjoyable in a French way. A cool Gallic reception but good bistro food.
Croque Monsieur diabolically good, especially with the always-tasty cup o' fries. Great place for guilty pleasures.
A classic NY eatery. Intriguing wine list. We went for the NY restaurant week menu, highly recommended. Excellent location for shows and Carnegie Hall.
Thank you very much.
Great food - I finally found a perfect roast chicken. We sat in the back, very good for noise level. The staff took a bit to find us but was very attentive after that. I appreciate the simple and wonderful preparation in contrast to a lot of NY fancy food. I will definitely be back.
Was looking for something in Midtown for Restaurant Week that was close to our hotel. This seemed like a great choice and sure enough, it was even better than we expected. Elegant yet not stuffy, the choices were great and the service attentive. It was also fun to watch the action at Rockefeller Plaza. I can't imagine what it's like during the holidays.
Lovely Brasserie in a great location. Super busy and lively! Food was wonderful but service was a bit slow—maybe because it was a busy Friday night
From their Restaurant Week dinner menu: Winter Squash Risotto was absolutely delicious, Free Range Chicken with Garlic Mashed Potato was fantastic and both desserts was the perfect pairing for our after-dinner coffees.
This is a tourist trap. Poorly executed but attractive location because it is near Rockafeller Center. Food is mediocre and the service is well intended, but just ok. You can do better elsewhere.
The place is lovely, and our table was great. We loved our server. Sadly, the main courses (crab cake appetizer and the Scottish salmon) arrived tepid. There is nothing worse than a cool piece of fish. It’s better for lunch.
This restaurant is FABULOUS. First the Hostess was wonderful, sorry did not get her name. I was alone and she gave me a GREAT TABLE near the window and being that this restaurant is at Rockefeller Plaza it was an amazing sight. The Tuna Tartare for my Appetizer was so delicious very fresh, just perfect. This restaurant has specials for each day and OMG I am so glad the Server suggested the Blackened Swordfish. It came with my favorite White beans and veggies. Unbelievably delicious. Then I ordered the Creme Brulee with fresh berries and fruits and it was the BEST CREME BRÛLÉE I have ever tasted; even the desserts in Paris was not as delicious as the one I had today. You didn’t need to add salt or pepper to anything. The flavors were PERFECT. My glass of wine from Bordeaux lovely. I can’t wait to return. Zoran my Server was absolutely so pleasant and it was a joy to see really everyone so happy with smiles on their faces. It was an enjoyable afternoon.
My wife and I like their sister restaurant, Orsay. We thought we would give this a try. Our waitress was great and the wait staff were attentive. A totally different experience from Orsay, but still worth it. I would say it was a lot more upscale from what Orsay is.
Crab cake and sushi were excellent! Great friendly service!
Day after New Years place wasn’t busy but service great. Doesn’t always work that way.
Love this place but they were out of Fois grais-very disappointing
Nothing was done to make up for it
Ruhlmann rules! Authentic french ambiance and food was excellent. One of the family members greeted us and attended throughout our dinner. Charming hospitality. This family has vineyards in northeastern france, which we will visit.
Wonderful dining experience with an excellent and friendly wait-staff! The Ricotta Pancakes are amazing but so was everything else we had!!! There are great choices for everyone!
Great food and great service! I would totally recommend. It’s a bit pricey but good.
Memorable dining experience!
A lovely place--not too crowded or noisy or large. Fairly intimate bistrot style. Some windows have views (from a short distance) of Rockefeller Center, including the Christmas tree during the holidays. We had a very attentive and prompt wait staff for our dinner. The offerings of wine by the glass were very good. The crab cake appetizers were delicious, as was my Skate (fish). The rabbit with pasta was not quite as good--it could have used more sauce and flavor. The prices are what you might expect near a tourist destination in midtown. All in all, a really pleasant experience for the holidays in New York.
The food was spectacular and the service was exquisite. I had a seven year old and an 11 year old and they both loved the short ribs as well as the polenta appetizer and even the octopus. I had a steak and wife had the skate both of which were cooked to perfection with delicious sauces. well done
We have had lunch, dinner and drinks at this restaurant many times but it’s always our special place to go for dinner when we go into the city to see the tree. Great service and great food.
Great service, great food, great wine selection, great location. The crab cake, chicken, and ribs were delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.
Well this place couldn’t be more “New York at Christmas “ right by the Rockefeller xmas tree! This is our 2nd time here both at xmas time. There is a high top table near the bar with a great view of the tree even. Very nice place with good food- fancy even but not too much so! The scallops I had were delicious- and they had my favorite rose by the glass- which is rare! I’d highly recommend this restaurant especially at Xmas time! A real treat!
Once again me and my family enjoyed everything about this place. We had a wonderful view of the Rockefeller Plaza Christmas Tree and enjoyed out dinner so very much. Waitress was wonderful.
Hostess Inga was especially welcoming and gave us a wonderful table!
We live up the street on Fifth Avenue and had not been to Brasserie Ruhlmann for several months. It was definitely one of the best lunches we have had in NYC and we eat lunch out every day. The skate was the best I have ever had, my husband’s burger and fries were excellent and the thin apple tart for dessert was terrific. The waitress was delightful and clearly made our lunch even more enjoyable. We will be back to BR next week, for sure, so my husband can order the superb skate I had eaten.
We have eaten here many times. The food is excellent, the service is outstanding and the location is great. It is always a great experience.
Great lunch. Food was outstanding and service very good. The croque monsieur was amazing!!! A little too loud to enjoy conversation but with such good food and location at Rockefeller Center, it's still well worth it.
I frequent the Brasserie numerous times per year for business lunches and the service has always had a bit of an "attitude". The food is decent "basserie" food, but a bit pricey given its location. This last visit, has really soured me on the restaurant. We were seated right next to the service entrance and requested a different table. We were told that there were no other tables available, although I could clearly see at least a dozen tables for two that were open. My second request was again met by a curt response of "nothing available". Through the course of our business lunch, my chair was seven times by servers coming in and out of the door. Ten minutes into our lunch a woman was brought to the table next to us and requested a different table. She was immediately shown to another table for two elsewhere in the restaurant.
