Food fair—-service fine .
Was a great dinner, very relaxing. Food was great.... will definitely make it a regular.
We are Ridgewood residents but had not yet eaten at Brasserie. We decided to go last friday night and were happy the food was so good. Both my husband ad I loved the hummus bowl with mushrooms; we ordered an extra serving. The octopus was ok, not great, and the serving size small. The duck breast was a bit overcooked but the flavors were great. The mussels were good, made without butter and tasty. We did not have dessert. The staff was friendly without hovering. We had a good time.
There was a very loud table right by ours, which we were ok with but which some clients did not seem to appreciate.
Our first time in the "new" Novo Brasserie and, when compared, to its predecessor - the old "Novo" - it was a disappointment. The food was just "OK". Nothing that justifies the prices.
The service was prompt (we were the ONLY diners at 6:00PM on a Friday evening...….)
Experience fine but would like to see a few specials, maybe a farm quality salad with no cheese
Chicken was dry, uninspiring - not bad, but could be better
The food is fabulous! We’ve had Charles as a waiter the last couple times...not our favorite waiter...he is a little slow to respond to our table...
One person in our party ordered the hangar steak medium rare. It arrived well done. When the waiter finally returned to inquire about our meal and was informed about the steak he could not have cared less. He never apologized nor Informed anyone. When we left nobody acknowledged what had happened. Very disappointing dining experience.
Pretty, nice ambiance. Service was very attentive and the food was devious. Especially the cauliflower appetizer and salmon entree.
First time diners...everyone enjoyed their meal. We will be back!
Apps and entrees were delicious! Staff was friendly and pleasant! I highly recommend!
Staff was very attentive and friendly.
This is our 2nd visit. We came maybe 1 year before and were really impressed. This time around the food wasn’t as good, seemed to be cutting corners and the presentation was lacking. Most likely won’t be returning.
OUTSTANDING food. Was there for lunch - and the place was empty - which was perfect as I needed a quiet table. Would love to go for dinner - but I hate Northern NJ, so I probably will never go back! :)
But if I did - I'd go here (BTW, it's a BYOB).
The place was very nice inside. Service was good. The food was average. Wasn’t to many people in the restaurant so that’s cause for concern.
This is my second time there. I enjoy everything about the dinning experience!
Great ambience and some unique menu items. Food was good but not excellent.
8 PM reservation. A few tables open. Surprising considering how good the food was and it was Friday night. I had the hanger steak and it was delicious. My wife had the chicken and she enjoyed that too. Mussels and tacos were both excellent starters. I would go back.
Benn here several times, never disappoints.
Brought friends, always enjoy.
Food and service delightful.
A nice break from the mundane. Interesting menu and excellent presentations. Portions are small so if you are hungry you'll need to order at least a couple of appetizers to share. BYOB is a real plus. Ambiance is pleasant. Able to converse without shouting. Staff was kind and accommodating. A bit pricy, but not out of line for that caliber of restaurant.
Cute restaurant. The menu and decor doesn't seem all that different than it was with it's previous name/ owners. The food was good but nothing memorable. I wish the owner would kick it up a notch and create a menu that really wows and makes you come back over and over again because it is a cute spot.
This place is a real gem in Ridgewood . There are so many interesting dishes on the menu. We tried the Mediterranean cigars, the polenta and the cauliflower appetizers and they were all outstanding. The food is really top quality and the presentation is beautiful. For our main courses we had the chicken schnitzel, the branzino and the salmon. All were delicious. The ambience is so sophisticated and the decor is beautiful with comfy chairs and posh wallpaper and cool lighting fixtures. I was really surprised at the level of design . It’s like a cool city bistro. We’ll be back !
This restaurant is tastefully decorated with a casual luxe style. We admired the green and white glass milk bottle collection. The food (mushroom hummus, salmon spinach salad, beet salad) were all good. The pita looked and smelled freshly baked, and more like a small foccaccia. It is a BYOB restaurant, that's ok; but they didn't have any juices, and I mean any! nor did they make anything but espresso, so no lattes, no cappuccinos. Service was sweet, but not thorough, and we were the only ones in the restaurant for lunch on a Wednesday. The food and atmosphere will not disappoint, but something else might.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. The hummus is the best. Everything is delicious and the atmosphere is great.
Food was well executed & service top notch. Beautiful Decor. A Ridgewood Gem!
I had eaten at this restaurant once before and had a good experience. My second experience was the exact opposite. The service was so incredibly bad this past weekend, that I will never go back. The restaurant was EMPTY yet I had to get up and out of my seat to look for a waiter/waitress. I brought a bottle of wine, the server opened it and walked away. I finally asked another server to come back with wine glasses, she put them on the table and walked away. She didn't even pour the wine! They had ample opportunity to clear the appetizers from the table and provide new flatware and didn't do that either. It's very unfortunate considering they have good food but not good enough to put up with that level of service.
Overall this experience was amazing. From the service to the food also the ambiance was phenomenal. Our server Charles did a great job. He was on point! He also catered to me being a vegetarian. The food was great as well. The attention to detail from Charles was seen by not only me but the table next to us. The manager Mike was great and he made sure our experience was awesome. Thank you !! I’m sure we will be back atleast once a week.
Everything was good except the menu online is different than in the restaurant.
Also I asked for a club soda twice and the first tome it came perfectly in a glass with ice. The second time it was abruptly handed to me in a canl which took me by surprise.
But the food was good and location was cute
Lovely menu but food was a little disappointing compared to predecessor Novo. Found Israeli salad bland without feta and or seasoning. Bronzino nicely cooked but very under seasoned.
I’m good on this place. Went 4 years ago and was happy to see they scaled back their menu prices & simplified the menu a bit. I ordered the salmon which they inexplicably paired with a salad although the menu said it came with Farro risotto and roasted cauliflower. Also the service was mediocre especially considering it was the end of the night and not that busy. This place is back on the black list. Never going back. My wife likes going their for brunch with her friends, so maybe try that.
Better when it was Novo.
No one was in the restaurant which was odd for a Ridgewood restaurant.
Waiter was blah.
Food was average.
First time there was on a week night. Great menu, delicious food at good prices. Prix fix menu Sun- Thurs for $29. Beautiful decor. Will be back!
Loved the whole thing - except. While he food portions were perfect and the cuts perfect from mussels to shrimp. - they are too bland!!! Add some spice to the food. The salad tasted good and was awesome. Except - the dressing was soooo bland.
The Payeya A shrimp perfect. Mussels excellent. Rice. Outstanding. AGAIN. no sauce. No flavor.
If this chef could just get daring with sauces and seasonings. - they will have a 10. If they don’t dress it up, they will not be around.
My suggestion? Keep the same menu. But add dressing. As sauces. Add tastes!!
Food was great and overall service fine. When one person finished their meal, they took their plate away while others were still eating. That continues every time someone finished. Made us feel like we had to hurry to finish. Leave plates until the last person is done.
We had a good meal there, although I wouldn't go far out of my way to eat there. My salmon was overcooked (for me) and I had to send it back. They were very accommodating and took it immediately.
actually, I think part of my problem was that I ate the eggplant chips as an appetizer and they filled me up. I probably would give it a second chance, if it were more convenient for me.
Went for our anniversary. It was quiet and romantic. Food was amazing.
No Diet Soda options available. Only full sugar options.
The appetizers and small plates are delicious. The duck in filo is fabulous. The main course selection is very limited.
Food was the best part... Really tasty and interesting. Service was slow and inconsistent -- they brought three out of four dishes and then waited several minutes before the fourth. Waiter came and went and would disappear for long stretches of time. Ambiance was fine, but nothing special -- cost was pricey for the value received. While it was a positive experience, I would not go back there again -- too many other better choices.
Too many better Mediterranean restaurants in ridgewood then settling for this one. Gave this place a second chance but sorry to say it was disappointing. Everything was just ok nothing worth coming back too.
