Great atmosphere, good value for food - would recommend the moules-frites
The service was very slow. First time I stayed in a restaurant for brunch for more than 2h
The overall experience at Brasserie Liberte was very disappointing! The service was poor. Our waiter was inattentive to the point of dismissive,. After our second request to try to get a basket of bread, he said "okay" and then proceeded to walk out to the sidewalk to watch people go by. We sat outside in a walkway that lacked atmosphere and was a gathering place for people to look at the menu taped to the window. The food, though, was decent. My wife enjoyed her branzino and my coq au vin, except for the cold potatoes it sat on, was tasty.
Went with a large group last night after a movie in Georgetown and everything was fantastic. I've been very impressed that the restaurant has been able to keep things running well as it appears they have almost doubled their table capacity with their outdoor expansion during COVID times. This time we sat in a larger booth inside tucked away from other tables so there was appropriate distancing and enough privacy to be able to have a conversation among the group.
As always, the food and service were incredible. Our group had entrees ranging from Salmon, Duck Confit, Pork au poivre, NY strip and pasta -all perfectly prepared!
And the wine list contains a number of very good affordable wines as well as some of the more expensive stand-outs.
This has become my "go to" Georgetown restaurant.
We were able to get an instant reservation which was very nice. The restaurant was busy but not full. I was disappointed how closely we were seated to another table when there were other options that were socially distanced. Our waiter couldn’t be attentive and I’m not sure if that was due to short staffing or not. He seemed a bit flustered, not very personable. He let us get empty on drinks and we probably would have done another round but we gave up.
There was a very loud large party in a back room, their laughter, which I can appreciate of course, was echoing throughout our space and we had to speak loudly at each other. Perhaps the beautiful curtains around the entrance to that space could have been pulled a bit open to absorb the sound.
The food was a WIN and cooked to absolute perfection. We had the steak and frites. The sauce was on point, the fries crispy and the salad fresh. The drinks we had were good. Not too strong, not too light. I’d definitely go back, maybe we will sit outside next time.
Outstanding establishment in Georgetown. The interiors are as delicious as the food. Top notch service.
Consistently good food, great atmosphere, and very good service.
Sunday Night Surprise!
Hostess was put off by a request to move to a table at the window and the restaurant was empty. She wouldn't move us with the excuse of incoming reservations
Main course came in the middle of our appetizers and a random waiter handed them to us because there was no room on the table.
Check was given to us right after desert was put on the table
wait staff kept saying take your time yet rushed everything along.
It was like everything was pre-made and just warmed up.
Onion soup had no both and the cheese looked like it was blowtorched
Country Pate was slimy and dry
Duck Confit - Duck was good yet the sides were cold and dry
Salad Nicoise - Tuna was not fresh...veggies were ok
Desert was ok
Excelente food and ambience!
the service was poor, almost surly. the food was cold. and it was expensive.
A rising stalwart in Georgetown, checking many boxes: Reliably tasty French fare, comfortable yet chic decor, large outdoor patio, solid service, classy and approachable vibe.
The service was so poor, I have never experienced anything like it. When we asked for help from the hostess/manager, she said she would “try” to help. She never came by. Service was so ridiculous that we all felt like we were part of a practical joke. Our waiter was Illusive, perhaps said 25 words total and avoided us during our dining experience. It was an effort to get a cup of coffee ordered and forget the offer of cream or sugar. Food was fine but he never came back to ask or check in - there was zero care, warmth or effort to make our visit nice. I was so looking forward to our brunch and I would never walk though those doors again. It was terrible. I should mention that I am sure my husband tipped appropriately and we left without further complaint. We didn’t want our time to be negatively impacted by having our party of 9 go through that experience. Our time was about being together and didn’t want to get everyone uncomfortable. I am writing a review so that the owners can understand a diner’s experience in their establishment. If I could give less than a 1 star I would!
Great food and atmosphere
Overall I had expected more from my dinner experience at Brasserie Liberte. It was disappointing to have had a reservation and still be told that there was no tables available in the dining room. That our only option was to sit outside or at the bar. The food was just okay, nothing really to write home about there. Probably the only redeeming factor was that our waiter was a nice gentleman who was attentive and did his job well.
We’ve been looking for a quality dining experience since we moved from Chicago 2 years ago. This is what we wanted. Food is fantastic. Ambiance is beautiful. Service was spot on. You can bet we will be back again.
Excellent experience from start to finish. We didn't get fancy. The French Onion soup and one of those ridiculous burgers made an amazing meal! We will certainly be back!
Brasserie was highly recommended by my daughter. Great location next to the famous Milano, beautiful decor and ambiance. The service was on point. Funny and efficient server but I was really disappointed by the food, the Croque Monsieur was a sloppy mess ( cold bread with ham and cold cheesy white sauce) was not enjoyable. By the way, I only ordered the Croque Monsieur because the Chef did not want to serve me a simple omelette. I guess just another egomaniac chef!
Everything is wonderful and the service is the best we’ve had in any restaurant in the area. The only thing I’d like to recommend is to cook with a bit less oil. However, the food was still delicious. I cannot recommend this place enough
We celebrated my fiancé’s recent promotion and had a wonderful experience celebrating. The food was very well seasoned and proportion sizes were very generous. Especially loved the branzino!
The Cassoulet and the Beef Bourguignon were OUTSTANDING!! As comparable to our time in Paris. The staff and the chef were cordial and informative. We will surely stop back on our next trip to Washington DC! A “must” try when you are in Georgetown!
Coq au Vin was delicious and so were drinks
Manager spent time with us talking about liqueurs used in the Manhattan which was very good
Outdoor ambience was lovely for very warm autumn evening
Very nice place but would try something else next time. The croque Monsieur was not outstanding.
Fantastic food, terrible service. Could not get water, food arrived before drinks, and then they kept trying to take our plates when we were still eating! Felt for the overwhelmed waiter and we were one of the more patient tables, but at $100/head I would expect a lot more. It’s a shame as everything was delicious.
Beautiful restaurant. Great service our server was really amazing (too bad I forgot his name). The food, unfortunately does not match with decor and service.
Cassoulet was tasteless and cold. Duck confit was dry and was more fried than confit. The dessert was even worst, was hoping for a nice French dessert ( crepes-Napoleon or profiteroles) but none of them were available so I went for the lemon pie ( I think it just came from Costco)
Perfect. Timely service but not pushy to move the table. Food was very good.
We loved it, but our waiter was not good.
We went for brunch and it did not disappoint at all! Food, drinks, and service was AMAZING
French onion soup and mussels were delish!
We had a reservation but they sat us outside in the cold
We love the atmosphere at Brasserie, however the food this time was not as good as the last few times. We loved our food everyone we are here - but this time the quality was off for sure.
My peach soup was excellent. My cassoulet was a bowl of mush.
Food was very good except the steak my husband ordered .. too tough to chew!
Staff was impressive!
Outstanding food and service.
The fish portion was very small and I did not get the requested regular mashed potato and super greasy
Wonderful service! Large patio and very open, clean, and conducive to providing ambiance with noise level that allows you to easily converse.
I had the mussels with fries as main dish. The cream sauce of the mussels was very good.
I also had an Ile flottante for dessert. It was very tasty and fresh, with a mango flavor.
The only drawback: the beer on draft selection, which is too limited. I had to pick a Kronenbourg, which is only the Budweiser of French beers.
I was sad. We were seated outside and the service was atrocious. I don’t know if Adrian was new or whatever but he was so flustered kept dropping things and disappeared. We got no bread, had to ask for a soup spoon, steak knive, pen to sign the bill. I may try one more time but I suggest they train him or decrease the number of tables. I felt bad for him he seemed so flustered. Otherwise food was decent. I had steak frites and dining partner had beef .
Food was good, not great. Eatable. The beef bourguignon the sauce was very good, the meet it self was dry and didn’t melt in my mouth as usually would do a beef bourguignon. The duck as well, sauce increíble but the duck confit was very dry. The burglar was good a tasty and well cook. The crème brûlée was good, but not something that I’ll go back there to buy it. In general, food was average, service was great and the ambiance was nice as well.
As always, excellent service and delicious food mixed with a sophisticated ambiance
Wonderful experience. Delicious dinner and attentive staff made for a great meal. We will be back.
