Brasserie Jo is a wonderful restaurant in the neighborhood of Copley and the Prudential building. Their food is consistent and they have wonderful wait staff. We ordered the trout almandine, the braised lamb shank and the pork chop and all were wonderful.

The food here is good, I wouldn't say spectacular, but it's a great location. The manager was very accommodating, allowing me to order a croque monsieur for my daughter at dinner, even though it's only on the lunch menu (it is an excellent croque monsieur). The service was very slow and not very attentive; I'm not sure if it's because I was there with a 7 year old, or we were splitting everything so the tip wouldn't be as high, but our waiter took quite a long time to initially come to our table and never checked in with us after our food came. I'll probably go back, but it won't be at the top of my list.

My dinner experience was a huge disappointment last night. I arrived a half hour early for my 5:30 reservation & was told I couldn’t be seated in spite of the fact that there were people dining already & many empty tables. The service was deplorable & the food mediocre. My calves’ liver was is a soupy sauce & the mashed potatoes were cold. Won’t go back here ever again.

Great restaurant. We all enjoyed our meals. The onion soup is perfection. The meals were great, but the desserts are the show stopper. Cannot pass on the mouse.

Enjoyed a lovely Pre Boston Pops lunch at Brasserie Jo. Food was very good but service was slow. We waited awhile to place our order and our water was never refilled. In all fairness, the waitress apologized about the wait and didn't charge for our drinks. I would go back for sure and recommend to friends as well.

We LOVE Brasserie Jo! Our first date 20 years ago was there, and we have been going ever since. The food is consistently good, and their Chocolate Mousse is like no other mousse in the City. If you like French Bistro, and other classics, choose this place. It is convenient to the theaters.

Our meal was served to us within 15 minutes of being seated. We felt extraordinarily rushed. Maybe because we didn’t order cocktails or appetizers, but we hardly had a moment to even enjoy their bread and carrot sticks! The noise level was deafening and we were anxious to leave because we couldn’t talk with each other without yelling. If you want a relaxing dinner avoid weekends.
Why can’t restaurants install noise reduction in their dining rooms so guests can actually carry on a conversation? We normally enjoy Brasserie Jo, but this last dining experience has put us off.

The perfect spot for dinner prior to the Holiday Pops! Delicious drinks (went retro with a Brandy Alexander). Wonderful warm, crusty bread and marinated carrot sticks are wonderful starter snacks. Table had filet mignon (cut with a fork tender), double pork chops, and steak frites - all delectable. Desserts were the incredible profiteroles (a must try) and decadent chocolate mousse (each shared). Coffee and cappuccinos finished it off. 6PM reservation, done at 7:30PM, short walk to Symphony Hall for 8PM performance. A perfect night.

I took my five-year-old daughter before a show at Jordan Hall
With all respect to her mom, it was the best date ever ;)
She loved the "belly rolls" (profiteroles)

The waiter was very hard to understand and did not explain entrees well. The flatbread appetizer was greasy and wet, the Roasted Chicken was bland, overcooked, dry, and the peas were plain and shriveled. the mashed potatos were thick, dry and dense. The drinks were very very expensive.

Near Symphony Hall in Boston, Brasserie Jo is a classic french eaterie. We had lunch before going to a musical performance. The Salade Nicoise was very good, and very big. Half of it is enough for lunch. We split it and were quite satisfied. The salad included quite a bit of delicious seared tuna. We sat in the front, which is nice during the day because the windows afford light and some people watching. The back, which is the main part of the restaurant, is old school French brasserie, the kind one would find in Paris. It's darker during the day. Romantic, sophisticated dinners are great here. Prices are on the high side.

Taste flambé and crab remoulade was delicious as appetizer for our group -rest of seafood platter ok. Good brunch food . The mussels were a hit not so much the romaine salad with chicken which had no flavor . Desserts are a must -chocolate mousse , bananas foster and the donuts with chocolate sauce all incredible . Excellent wine list.

I arrived with my daughter 15 minutes early and was rudely told that they were seating close to reservation time. I had to ask him where he would like me to wait. There were a dozen empty tables. He clearly could have seated us. Then we ordered one salad one entree and one side and were not served dinner for over an hour - will everyone around us was served multiple courses. I had to ask twice after our food. There was no apology. No offer to comp a drink or a dessert. We never got asked if we wanted refills on our drinks. To top it all off the food was - in the words of my 18 year old daughter - subpar. We usually eat here pre-symphony but we will be finding somewhere else now. It was an utterly unpleasant experience.

I’ve always been high on Brasserie Jo—food and service—but I’m giving them a rave for going beyond expectations when I got home that night and found a phone message saying one of my party had left a credit card there (it had been retrieved). Nice!

As usual, a great place for a business breakfast. Everything was served promptly, and all of the food was presented well and was very tasty. Whenever I invite someone to share breakfast with me at the Brasserie Jo, my guests are always grateful for the introduction. Omelets, eggs benedict always please.

We get to Boston once a year and never miss having Sunday brunch at Brasserie Jo - the food is excellent. In the past, the service has been fantastic as well. This time we complained about the coffee (it was weak and had obviously been on a warming burner for a significant amount of time - not acceptable for a $5.95 cup of coffee!). Instead of apologizing and asking what she could do to make it right, our waitress took it personally and made excuses why it wasn't her fault. A sour end to a nice meal.
The mussels and tarte flambe were terrific!

Excellent food, excellent service, and they paid attention to our special request for a quiet table. When we were seated, they asked us if we were going to a show so they could judge the speed of service required. We were not in a hurry, but just knowing they were paying attention was a plus.

My francophile mother will happily come back every time she's in town!

My adult son and I were in Boston for Thanksgiving trying to figure out what to do for dinner. We had dined at Brasserie Joe before so we figured we try for Thanksgiving. We both enjoyed the Traditional Thanksgiving meal along with a great bottle of wine. We especially liked the sweet potato croquette! Service was great and it turned out to be a perfect dinner :)

Location is great and menu is good although not competitive for foodie bests. Chairs are incredibly uncomfortable and repeated requests for a pillow finally got some attention. Dessert special with chocolate pour over IC and profiterole was very special. And off to the symphony with time to spare.

Boy what a disappointment Sunday evening. I have always enjoyed going to this restaurant before/after a concert at Symphony Hall or Huntington Theater. It is a large restaurant and has always impressed me with the quality of the food and the EXCELLENT AND ATTENTIVE service. Sunday was miserable. WORST service ever. Actually non-existent service. No waiters and the bus-boys were untrained. We just sat and waited and waited and waited. The restaurant was not at all crowded as it normally is so that wasn't the reason. Our waiter said that there were only 3 waiters in the entire restaurant. So maybe they are going out of business. But people around us who had other servers seemed to get good service. I think we just were unlucky. But needless to say it ruined our evening after an enjoyable concert. Don't know if I will willingly ever go back. I've had this experience at another restaurant a couple of years ago and within a week they were closed. So maybe Joe's is going out of business and staff is leaving.
