French Onion Soup
Roasted Sea Bream Fillet
mashed potatoes with olive tapenade, virgin sauce
Confit Duck Leg
sauteed potatoes and salad
It was good, not great. I had the flank steak. Ordered it medium/well. it came medium rare.
Onion soup was good, not great.
Dessert was OK....nothing special.
I felt it was too crowded in these Covid times. No plexi glass between tables. felt very close. All other restaurants had better Covid measures.
Staff were very friendly and service was good. Food was just ok. We expected better.
Excellents tartares, morceaux de pains un peu durs a notre goût
It is understood that this restaurant is very busy being in a high traffic tourist area; however, we experienced very slow service. We had a dismissive waiter, and received our entrees well after others seated adjacent to us who were seated after us. No follow up for additional drinks, no follow up on service, we were an afterthought. If anything, quicker service would allow us to wrap up earlier and get other lined up patrons in earlier for better turnaround. Very unfortunate and not acceptable.
Excellent - overall!
Solid cooking. Felt confident with allergies. Attentive service, but not overbearing.
Great traditional French cuisine ( Lamb , braised beef, fish) ; a great location: 100 yards from Chateau Frontenac and awesome/attentive service. Great options on wine both for variety and by the glass/carafe/bottle. I strongly recommend this restaurant. Make sure you make a reservation!
We were excited to try the frog legs but were disappointed to learn that they only serve them on Mondays. Otherwise, the food and service were good.
Great place, tasty food and drinks, amazing staff and service. Highly recommended!
Our meal was fine. We ordered the French onion soup which came out lukewarm and wasn’t very flavorful. We also had the house salad which was standard. I liked my meal better than my husband. I had the skirt steak with shallots + fries and thought the steak was very flavorful and well portioned. He had the duck l’orange which was overcooked. Ironic since the waiter said the chef refused to cook it any other way than medium/well. Seems the chef should cook it how the person paying for it requests it, but that’s just my two cents.
On a snowy night we had a perfect, romantic evening with wonderful food, helpful service . Extensive drinks and wine list with a range of good, reasonable selections. The beef cheek was among the best i've had and the salads were terrific. Bravo to the chef and staff for a true jem.
The wait for a drink at the bar was longer than expected, but once seated the service was good.
Amazing dining experience. High-end food and service without pretentiousness.
Best lamb chops and Caesar salad
Chez Jules was our restaurant of choice the second night in a four day stay over the Christmas holidays. It's location in the shadow of the Chateau Frontenac adds to its ambience in the heart of Old Quebec City. You felt welcome as soon as you came in. The menu is well above average and unique. Our choices: A shared Pate en Croute Lyonnais Veau, Ravioli a la Tartuffe, Magret de Canard a l'Orange, and for dessert, Crepe Suzette Flambes! Magnifique!
Limited menu means most dishes are quite well done. We loved the ravioli and the beef cheeks. The skin on the chicken breast could have been crispier, although the meat was moist. The menu (or waiter) should note the dish contains mushrooms. Salmon was very good.
Christmas Eve Dinner
We enjoyed the French food with cream sauce and mushrooms. Waiter was excellent.
The food was delicious , but a little cold , to my liking
Very good food, service and ambiance.
Every dish was outstanding.
Beef cheaks a MUST try.
A good meal
La comida no tenía sabor, le falto sal a todo y la
Sopa de cebolla no sabía a nada, pedimos pollo roztizado que nunca llego
The escargot was the best we’ve ever had and we’ve had it all over the place from Toronto to nyc. Was also very kind of them to send us a glass of wine to celebrate our engagement.
Excellent food, service, ambiance and value. Would absolutely return and recommend to friends visiting Quebec.
Nice atmosphere and kind servers. Food was yummy!
Sea bream and salmon were excellent - nicely cooked and served. The chicken supreme was however dry on surface and pasta with it had hard edges - maybe it was sitting under warming lights too long? Most of this entree was not eaten but my gueat said nothing until later. Too bad as we would have drawn our server's attention to it.
The floating island dessert was very well prepared. Custard under meringue was flawless.
We sat outside, and enjoyed hearing street musicians as we dined. The host made excellent wine pairing recommendations. I had cassoulet du canard (I had not tasted this since 30 years ago when visiting Carcassone in France, and I was so happy to have a Languedoc wine to pair with it at Chez Jules). My wife reported that her salmon in a crepe was most delectable. The staff was attentive without being overbearing - perfect balance.
Service was indifferent at best. Waiter very offhand and only came to life when we were paying the bill! Charcuterie platter was good. Boulabaisse lukewarm with 2 pieces of fish, too much bread, broth cold. Awful and a rip off for $25.
Comida auténtica con buen sabor y el lugar pintoresco, la calidad de los productos fue excelente, altamente recomendado.
Seating was tight and it felt like the wait staff was trying to move us through the meal to get another seating.
Food was prepared well and the wine we ordered was quite good! We had better experiences at other restaurants while visiting Quebec which I would recommend over Chez Jules.
This ended up being a great restaurant. I was afraid it would be too touristy but just the opposite. It was a great little bistro. Four of us had a great meal and everyone loved it. I had the mushroom ravioli which was delicious. Would definitely recommend.
This place was so fun! The food was great, service good, and atmosphere adorable!
We were party of 4. My husband and I got the sole. It was very good and could have used more sauce. The onion soup is the best I can remember having. The escargot were a little bland and the ravioli too mushroom for my taste. The hit at the table was the risotto.
Meal pace was uneven. Got our drinks and apps quickly, dinner was about 10-15 mins after we finished our apps. Dessert offered 10-15 mins after we finished our dinner. We waited a while for our check too. Food was good, though.
Wait for food was long. Portions were really small.
Excellent service a superb food. My new favorite. An excellent location.
Try the beef check bougenuine
All you can eat frogs on Monday’s
They had me at the mason jar filled with cornichons on each table! Everything I love in a French Bistro! Lentil salad with grilled pork belly was delicious as where the escargot and sole. Friendly service and wonderful wine list. If this restaurant was in my home town, we’d be dining here weekly. Look forward to our next visit to this beautiful city and wonderful restaurant!
