The food and service are spot on.. nice and inviting on a cold winters night.. looking forward to returning
This is my third visit to Brasserie, and every time I've been here, its been delicious. The food is always perfectly done, and the service is top notch. It is very reasonably priced for French cuisine. Also. make sure you don't skip dessert, I highly recommend any time they have ice cream or gelato, it is always SO good :)
Wife and I came here for the first time for late Valentines Day dinner and I’m kicking myself now for not coming sooner. The ambience and decor are great. I liked the cozy atmosphere in an older building. Service was great from the valet to our waitress who was wonderful. My wife loves French onion soup and says it was the best ever. Chicken liver pate was splendid. In hindsight we could have shared an app as they were both filling. My first experience with cassoulet was divine. The pork had a nice smoky hint to it. And the chocolate soufflé was a perfect end to a great meal. The bread was outstanding as were the cocktails. Were looking forward to coming back.
It was a delight!
Food was exceptional, solid wine list which complemented the meal. Pricey but well worth the cost for the quality of the meal. The only detractor was the table seating as we were shoved into a two person corner table right next to a wall divider, which left me feeling claustrophobic throughout the meal. Will try this restaurant again as the food was delicious, will NOT sit at that table again.
Never disappoints. Great service, great food, great wine list, great bar. Top notch chefs. You can't go wrong.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant. My girlfriend had the chicken and it was the best we’ve ever tasted. I had the trout and it too was wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We had to wait, standing, about half an hour past our reservation time. The noise level was excessive. One reason for this was the overbooking. It led people who showed up either early or on time to go to the bar, which was also packed. So much so that I couldn't even see whether there was any place to sit down. Whether or not the overbooking was calculated to jack up prices at the bar beyond what they would be in the course of honest business, the company that did the overbooking made the money. This time. From me, not the next time. As in situations in which an airline messes something up and makes people miss their arrival times (and connections), we were after about 25 minutes offered a "free" glass of champagne (one per person). Overall, it was more like we were hurricane victims in some kind of shelter. We got out for under $100 per person because we cut items both because the overbooking made the meal so late and in order to deprive the company of unjust enrichment. The quality of the food was no better but no worse than we had a right to expect at that price. Next time we will use a fraction of the additional time this sh*tshow caused to drive the additional distance to Cafe Provencal. We could hear each other talk without shouting in the car, whereas we could not in the holding cell at Brasserie. I am especially disappointed by this, because I remember Chez Leon in the same space. What happened on what was supposed to be our Valentine's Day (because we both had time-conflicts on the 14th, and I can't imagine this happening when it was under the previous management.
The food we had was as expected very traditional French fare and excellent. The Bibb lettuce salad was a good example: lettuce, parsley and a light vinaigrette. It was of course served in the American style, at the beginning of the meal. When we were there, on a Thursday, it wasn't occupied close to capacity the noise level was very reasonable.
Really cool restaurant. Our table was in the middle of the room on a very busy night, which was our only complaint. On future visits, which we look forward to making, we will ask to be seated off to the side of the room. The service was outstanding, the menu fresh and varied, and the wine list was a good sampling of old-world varietals. Overall, the feel of the restaurant, with a bustling, yet warm vibe, was fresh and upbeat. The French music playing lightly was a nice backdrop for a wonderful, romantic evening.
After hearing a lot about Niche, I was anticipating an opportunity to have a quiet dinner and delicious food. I was underwhelmed. Tight seating, way too much noise. A good piece of trout, nicely presented and overloaded with salt.
On Valentine's day...also the first day of Lent...and a seafood dish prepared with bacon. I guess the owners forgot about Lent because the non meat entress were obviously absent from the menu.
The wait staff...seemed as though they couldn't wait for the table to turn over.
Our server made our Valentine’s Day celebration dinner very special. Super sweet, kind, and quick. The food was superb. Excellent experience!
Amazing service - they got my order wrong (ordered coq au vin but got croque madame instead, was probably my bad pronunciation ) - they instantly apologized, offered to get croque madame to go (for free) and got my actual order in 4 minutes.
I haven’t been here in awhile. We had an excellent meal for a reasonable price.
Fantastic food and service, as always! Roasted chicken is the best in STL, as are the escargot.
Delicious food and great service! Thanks for a great meal and time.
We had only soup and salad before symphony. It was more than adequate. Wine was excellent also. Onion soup is always there and excellent; cauliflower soup was chicken-broth based, I believe (it could have been beef) and delicious if you weren't looking for vegetarian. The frisee salad is one of our favorites with lardons and warm bacon dressing. Their rolls were warm, fresh and delicious. A pleasant evening. Quiet early. Noisy as it fills and by 7:00.
Wow, Brasserie was an AWESOME experience. My bf and I went for our two year anniversary and the restaurant gave us free champagne, a free dessert, AND a free drink that was a mistake by the bartender!!! We were so thrilled with the service and we were so surprised too! We didn’t realize they would be doing any of that until we got there; they had paid attention to my note on my reservation saying “anniversary” which I didn’t think twice about! Just awesome. Plus the food was amazing, I got the chartreuse, garlic sausage, duck confit and my bf got the beef.
Good restaurant overall, nice service, good quality and ambiance. A little pricey. The trout was dull.
Anniversary dinner. Complimentary champagne, excellent food and service. Will definitely return.
