About Brasserie Brightwell
A converted garage features soaring ceilings, garage doors that open onto the patio and outside bar, with a wood fired grill, raw bar and a vast craft beer list all make for the hottest restaurant on the Eastern Shore. A nice dinner for two or a quick burger at the open kitchen counter, you can always count on great food, friendly service and fun. We had an excellent dining experience on a busy Friday evening at Brasserie Brightwell. The new fall menu is fantastic! I opted for the special - butternut squash soup as an app and was very happy with my choice. My wife had the chicken liver salad which was delicious and enough to share. She then opted for the Vietnamese Pho Style Mussels - the mussels at Brasserie are always great. I again chose from the specials menu and went for the interesting surf and turf combo of some perfectly prepared scallops that melted in your mouth, along with a nice cut of pork. The best part about the meal, however, may have been the green beans. I am not sure what Chef Brendan did to those beans, but they were the best I have ever tasted.
It was a lovely afternoon, most patrons were sitting outside, so we had the inside all to ourselves. It was like having lunch in a friends kitchen. Our waitress was attentive and did not rush us , she realized we were having a "ladies lunch". Food was very good. Will definitely go back again
Consistently terrific! A recent dinner for 4 was perhaps our 15th dinner there over the past year or so, and we've never had a bad experience. From the warm delicious French bread to start, to the good salads and great entrees (we've tried everything from the salmon to the great burgers), we've always found the food to be delicious and served hot. The crispy Brussels sprouts are amazing. We rarely have room for dessert. (My only complaint - sometimes during Saturday nights in the summer it can get noisy (tile floors, nothing to absorb sound) and I don't particularly like the bands that sometimes perform there. But I recognize that others like it.)
This is our go to restaurant every time we come to the Stoltz Listening Room or Avalon theater.

Great fried green tomatoes (a side,pix) we got as an appetizer, wonderful salmon cooked to perfection with a side market salad and yummy lemon crepe we shared. (Pix)
The savignon Blanca Spanish wine was a good value for the bottle.
Living in the area, we have been coming to Brasserie ever since it opened. It was fresh and the menu was limited but every item was a much needed improvement over local cuisine. Over the past 3-4 years, the quality of the food has gone down but the prices have risen. Unfortunately, the restaurant has taken a winner and steadily progressed downward. I used to recommend tourists (we live in Oxford) to Brasserie but will no longer do so. The burger used to be good if you wanted something light.... no longer. The trout was always good but it has gotten smaller and now is usually served dry. Mussels are still good but recently, the fries have been tasty but soggy and greasy. Simply put, if you want to sit outside and have a drink, it is great but the food, even with a new menu, is far from exceptional. It just misses on so many fronts. I hope the management takes a closer look at what is happening. Most of us are willing to support a mid to higher end restaurant if the food is balanced against the price. That is no longer the case. It would not take much to improve. Attention to menu detail, higher quality product and waitstaff that were familiar with the menu, dining etiquette (no pre bussing) and a better (not bigger) selection of menu items that reflect a variety of tastes and textures. They need to be the differentiated restaurant they once were.
For starters the location was adorable and the outside seating was perfect. The waitress was knowledge on all menu items and had such a warm personality. The food was beyond amazing. From the appetizer to dessert, everything was delicious. We were more than impressed.
It's been over a year since I've been at Brasserie Brightwell, and the restaurant has gone seriously downhill. Despite the fact that we had a reservation, the hostess didn't seem particularly interested in helping us. Once we were seated, the food disappointed. The oysters came without the mignonette, and when we asked, there were neither crackers to accompany the oysters nor bread for the mussels. The market salad was bland. I used to look forward to going to the brasserie when I visited Easton, but I'll need to find another restaurant to patronize now.
This was a pleasant surprise. The mussels were excellent and a sizable portion. The service was very friendly and prompt without rushing us at all. The pecan bread pudding was recommended by our server - home run and plenty for two. The cafe latte is very nice. We will return on our next trip to Easton.
We visited Easton for the first time the weekend of July 14-16, 2017. I made a reservation at Brasserie Brightwell based on OpenTable reviews and we were not disappointed! The restaurant has a great space, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive (in a good way), and the food was excellent. Additionally, we came as a group of four adults and a toddler and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had a nice meal. We will definitely come back!
Nice feel to the place. Service was average. Considerably quiet for a Saturday night. Salmon was under cooked and made guest sick within hours. Lamb sliders were almost raw in the middle and didn't taste like lamb at all. Chicken sandwich was average. Shrimp were smothered in lemon. Steak was good. Good fries also. Price would be good if the food was cooked properly by a real chef. We selected this place based on good reviews. Disappointed to say the least and will not be going back.
The food is always good and it is enhanced by our Waitperson, Sammi. We actually do not go unless she is working as she makes such a difference. When making a reservation, anyone should ask for her. the menu is not extensive but they are known for their mussels as well as their whole rainbow trout. They also grill oysters, 3 or 4 different ways. Great outdoor seating.
For us, this was the perfect rest spot on the way back from the beach. Even on a Sunday, there was a heathy crowd seated outside on a beautiful Sunday spring evening listening to a live performance and enjoying French-bistro-inspired dishes. As echoed on their website, they do make a point to offer fries with most of their main plates, as they are quite good. The day's special was a pair of flash-fried soft shelled crabs, delicate yet tasty since they were fried without any coating; the flavor of the accompanying succotash (corn, okra, red peppers, cooked pepperoncini, sausage) complemented the crabs nicely, although its consistency was a bit pasty. A fine list of wines, and a dozen beers on tap. If they only offered cornichons, then the bistro effect would have been perfect.
We have eaten here before but were extremely disappointed with this visit. The patio was closed due to the cool weather, so they crammed everyone into the small indoor space---it was clearly overbooked. Also, there had been some sort of kitchen mishap just prior to our arrival and the dining area was full of smoke, and rather than open the doors to quickly remove the smoke, they turned the ceiling fans on full blast, further disturbing people trying to enjoy their evening. The fans did nothing more that move the smoke around and made our eyes water even more than they were already. We should have just left, but we kept hoping the situation would improve quickly. Unfortunately it will be a long time before we return and only if the patio is open.
Took some out of town friends for dinner, one vegetarian. We each tried a different dish and they were all really good. Especially the side of Brussel sprouts. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and suggested adding grilled shrimp to the shaved brussel sprout salad. Very yummy . Would have eaten out on the patio but it was rainy. Ambience inside is very cozy and inviting
Very disappointed. Kitchen coukdn't handle friday night crowd. Food took forever to come out. French fries were burnt. My food (mussles) was barely warm when it came to the table because they kept it waiting until the other dishes were ready. Poor timing. Though I complained the manager did not even come to the table to apologize. They offered us free desert to compensate though I would have preferred if they just comped us the dish. Server tried hard but her hands were tied. Will not be back. We spent $150 plus. Waste of money.
As always, food was good, server was exceptionally attentive and helpful (Samantha), and the food was great. We eat there every couple of weeks, and it's become our favorite place here in town. The menu, with specials, is always what one expects from a brasserie, and the food is prepared at as close to perfection as one can expect. Overall, a great casual dining experience.
