Great meal at large table by the bar!
Hostess was less than friendly
I had a very pleasant experience at Brassiere Beck this weekend for their 2018 OysterFest! It was $34 or $38 for all you can eat oysters! The staff all around the restaurant was noticeably delightful, which added to the dining experience. Literally everyone that I came in contact with, including the oyster shuckers were friendly and helpful.
The shucker's hands must have been cramped from all the oysters they probably shucked that day, but they kept smiles on their faces the whole time I was there. We had the goal to eat 40 oysters each but walked away eating about 26 each and we were pretty full. The brunch menu looked amazing and I can't wait to come back to try the crab cake benedict. My friend ordered it and it looked awesome!!
In DC for business and had dinner with my daughter, her family and another friend. Meal, service, experience, etc were all top notch. Beck’s is always at the top of it’s game. Wife and I spent three years in Brussels and have been eating at Becks for last 15 years wherever we are in DC.
Excellent meal. Mussel with white wine, Weiner schnitzel were outstanding. The carrot cake was a great way to finish up the meal.
We had a party of six. There was no weak spot in the food or service. It was just what we were looking for and the ambiance was bustling and fun. Great experience.
The food is good, not great. The charcuterie was disappointing. It seemed like the meat had been trimmed hours before it was served. The main courses were decent. For the price, I’d much prefer Le Diplomat (if you can get a table) — the food, service and ambiance are similar in style but far superior.
Good beer. Food could be better. Good service.
The service was terrific. I was accidentally given the wrong order and they really worked hard to get it right.
Rasserie Beck is my go to restaurant when in DC. I was on a “me trip” and planned this dinner for Saturday when DC empties out. Just me, so sat at the bar after walking miles around the Mall. Started with a Bavik Pils, pretty close to Stella. Already knew I wanted the Mussels Mediterranean from previous visits. Large serving comes with frites. This is steamed mussels in an excellent Bolognese sauce that has bits of sausage and shrimp. Great for dipping your bread, so don’t use up your bread before the entree comes. Bartender offered another Bavik, but I had a different beer with the entree and can’t remember the name but a pils with 6.5% alcohol. Finished with a glass of Taylor 10 (couldn’t see an extra $9 for Taylor 20). The lady who sat next to me, saw my order and got the small serving—said best mussels since she left France. Business guy came and sat on the other side of me and saw the two of us eating the mussels, or maybe the aroma, but he ordered the small dish, too.
By the way, I grew up near Long Island Sound, encrusted with mussels, and I never liked them until a friend insisted I try them at Brasserie Beck. Needs a Belgian chef, I guess.
Entrees run $25 - $40 which is reasonable for Belgian/French cuisine in that area of DC. Belgian beers on tap run $6 - $12. Good staff and I enjoyed the banter with the two bartenders. I will be back next time in DC.
Wild mushroom sauce Mussels are awesome! Steak tartare was good also. Recommend the mussels and frites.
We booked this restaurant based on great reviews on TripAdvisor and food options prior to arriving in DC. Located one block from the Embassy Suites so in an awesome location. They open at 5:00 so we were able to make our reservation for that time as we had a moonlight tour of the monuments at 7:15 so the timing was perfect. Ralph was our server and he was absolutely awesome!! Very attentive and he made some excellent suggestions. We enjoyed a cheese board as our appetizer with 4 choices of cheese. Included an awesome peach jam. My husband had the Mediterranean Mussels which were fantastic and I had the Wiener Schnitzel which was amazing. Portions are huge! Enjoyed delicious Carrot cake for dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food, good ambiance but a little expensive. Definitely more than what expected and advertised on open table.
Had a fantastic steak.
Belgium beer - Zot was excellent as well
Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, great service. Felt like I was dining in Europe.
The food is great. The beer selection amazing. The location decent. But what makes Brasserie B exceptional is the service. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel as if we'd been invited to a friend's house. We had our pick of table - we chose to sit outside. It felt like a classic European cafe. Our server Meri anticipated every one of our needs. Our glasses were never empty. I had the Wienerschnitzel -just outstanding. My wife had the Branzino which was also delicious.
At the end of the meal when we asked for the check Riga the manager came over and let us know that the entire meal was on him, because we'd been regulars for so long. Truly, in 30 years of going to some of the best restaurants in the world (Mirabelle's, The Ivy, etc) I've yet to experience something like this. If you live in DC and are looking for a regular place you cannot do better. If you're visiting and you like Belgian food - this is the one for you!
Our server was fantastic and really helped make our first experience here wonderful.
A perfect evening! We ate outside in the (finally) good weather. Our server was the best! We started with the mussels, which were so good that 2 of us said we would have been happy with nothing but those. But then we would have missed the delicious lamb! This is a restaurant we have been going to for a number of years and always enjoyed ourselves. An oldie but goodie!
Always an outstanding experience - the food is amazing and the service attentive. The food never ceases to amaze and during Restaurant Werk it’s even better.
The food and service is all excellent. The price point is a bit high for what it is. They are consistently doing great food and service.
Everything was great! A huge beer selection and a very knowledgeable server. Can't wait to return for another meal.
SUCH great authentic Belgian food, with a lovely layout and the cutest chairs and tables. The waiter took great care of us, helped me with my very snooty cocktail request without blinking an eye, offered great beer pairing recommendations, and didn't hassle us for our slow meal timing. This place always delivers. It may not be as "hot" as other places, but it's great for impressing guests and always delivers a great experience.
We had the pleasure of sitting at the chef’s table and loved watching the kitchen at work. We had a lovely meal with excellent service, as always. A favorite to bring our out-of-town family to.
Go for the food, stay because of the outstanding service. The staff here was absolutely wonderful and treated us to a great evening. Everyone who assisted us was friendly and the dishes and drinks were perfectly timed. Of particular note, Dean, the Cicerone, provided excellent beer recommendations to accentuate the meal. It is easy to take a chance on something new when you can have a professional make suggestions, and given the extensive beer menu, it is definitely worth trying something new.
The service was excellent on the part of the waiter, beer sommelier, and support staff. I had cheese and loved it. My husband loved his beer; the sommelier guided both of his choices. My husband also loved his scallops. We both enjoyed our desserts.
Very delicious mussels! Always love the food. We went for our anniversary, and it was nice.
I was visiting from New York and came for a pot of traditional mussels and fries. Brasserie Beck did a wonderful job. Mussels were nicely served in a cast iron pan with fries that had three types of dipping sauce. Love this! Service and drinks were great- very attentive waiter. Highly recommended.
Great experience. The food was amazing, especially the mussels. Waitstaff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The owner was working the room and making sure everyone felt welcome. Service was perfectly-timed and the gateau was the best dessert I have ever had.
Oyster Festival for Belgian Independence Day!
Great Mussels and outdoor dining. The Belgian beers were great.
An excellent location for great eats and service. Highly recommend to the curious.
We have never had anything other than an excellent meal and an excellent experience at Brasserie Beck!
Thank you so much for making my best friends birthday extra special 😊 she is a #1 fan of Brasserie, as am I.
While we love this restaurant and we visit often, I was disappointed by this experience. It took some time to receive our food and when it did arrive, our guest complained about the bread on his hamburger. It apparently was stale and "terrible." We still will continue to visit, however, not as often.
It was a very quiet day in the city so the restaurant was missing a little bit of livelihood but good service and good food!
Very pleased with the mussels and frites. Great service.
Excellent, excellent meal! The entree portion of mussels was about 30 mussels, everyone delightful! Hubby had the suckling pig special, and it was amazing. The charcuterie was excellent as well. A wonderful meal, steps from our hotel!
We had a very nice experience at Brasserie Beck, helped by the fact it was a holiday week and there weren’t many diners. Ordinarily, the restaurant is much noisier, which detracts from the excellent food. Go early and tuck into excellent steak tartare, moules/frites, coq an vin and more.
Beer selection is like being in Belgium. So is the food.
We all loved our meals. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and not too noisy.
