I eat here every time I come to DC. Excellent bread and mussels, service and drinks.
The service is substantively on the decline. Food orders were mistaken and orders coming from kitchen were disjointed. The service in general was very slow. I still like the food but wonder if Brasserie Beck is losing the front-of-the-house battle to new restaurants poaching talent.
The food was excellent. My wife enjoyed her mussels and the daily special suckling pig was spectacular. Dean, the best cicerone, helped us find new Belgian beers that complemented our food choices. Her knowledge and approach are a reason to go here.
Convenient location, solid food and service. My guest and I both had the salmon burger which was not overcooked--something that happens too often--but it was spicier that I expected. Fabulous French fries. Service was mostly attentive although I sure wish the servers were better trained. Ours reached over me several times to serve my guest when it was easy for him to walk around the table. Couple of close calls with his elbow and my nose.
Appreciated the excellent wine selection and the quality of the food.
As usual, food was excellent. We did not get our „regular” server as he supposedly does not work for the restaurant any longer. The server we got was very nice and professional but did not get out of his way to make sure everything was up to par. I was not asked how my drink was (too warm), I was not offered freshly ground pepper to spice up one of my dishes), the little touches...
Other than that, all was excellent (as always) I find at this restaurant “religiously” every time I’m in town. Once you get used to something, it’s not easy to forget the past...
very consistent - always friendly, always good food, always prompt service. never crowded.
What an amazing place! The third time I’ve been there, and fantastic every time.
The beer selection is excellent and even more, the staff really knows the beer. Perfect advice.
My favorite place in DC!
We went there for Mother’s Day brunch. We was hoping that there will be some lunch menu offer and 1 of the dessert were out and one not offer for lunch at all. On the special day like this they should consider offering the soufflé dessert for lunch.
We love this place! Good food, delicious bread and fantastic service. It is our "go to place" for special occasions and casual dining as well.
Great food and fantastic Belgian beer list. If you like Belgian beer, you really need to try Brasserie Beck. It has excellent food and service but has a wonderful selection of Belgian beer. The waitstaff is attentive and was quick to get our party inside when a thunderstorm started. It was an excellent evening.
Chic ambiance and excellent food make this a good choice if you are in the neighborhood. I had Beef Bourguignon and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m from Dallas and all the prices in DC seem high, so it’s hard to judge value, but I’d call it “OK” given the general high quality of the food and nice setting. I’ve never seen an $85 bottle of beer before, but you can order that here if that’s your thing.
The only reason I gave four stars for the food was that the service was so exceptional I had to have a differential between them.
We were in town for National seminar with our industry. My husband and I took the recomendation from Open Table and for the first time were disappointed....
Service just ok...surroundings zero ambiance...old tattered menus and placemats (details - I know, I hear you!)...all tables and chairs...
Left after dinner, which was just okay...we were waiting to be impressed with the ‘Belgian style’ cooking ??
Sorry...just no competition for all the other fabulous eateries in town..
Birthday meal, head chef came out to offer beer pairings. Was great!
Don’t go here it’s overpriced and the portions are tiny
Great Belgian Brasserie - delicious cassoulet and moules frites. Large selection of beer..
The Mussels (classic) and Brussel sprouts were both excellent! Service was attentive, fast but not intrusive.
Excellent food and drinks. Professional wait staff. Quiet and reserved. Only complaint: there's a separate beer menu for non-draft that they don't bring out unless requested, which I didn't remember until after (my fault, but I wish they'd mention it). 10/10 wonderful restaurant, one of my favorites in the city.
Really top notch from start to finish. Food was authentic and excellent, service was perfect. Only complaint - French press coffee was a little weak. Hardly noticed, everything else was so good.
Food was very good and service was excellent. It was just was a Brasserie should be.
Came back a second day and brought my lovely wife, well she insisted after I talked about it to her. Nice offering of beer and wines to please most tastes. We had the same server as I did before which was great, he actually remembered what I had gotten before. His drink suggestions were perfect to compliment what we ordered. Started with a few oysters from both coasts, I still prefer the west, not quite as briny. Shared a steak tar tar which was lightly seasoned nicely and then shared the wild mushroom muscles, so good. Even the bread they give you when you arrive was outstanding, had to use a few pieces to get some of that juice left by the muscles. All in all, a great lunch followed by the apple tart, yum.
Quick services and authentic menu
I had visited Brasserie Beck 2 years ago when I was in town visiting with my Dad. He had highly recommended it and to his declaration I was very impressed.
On April 14th I suggested Brasserie Beck as a dinner spot for a few of my girlfriends and I to get together and catch up.
One we were seated it took the server almost 10 minutes just to greet us. Water was brought a good 10 minutes later and our drink order was then taken; which then took 15 minutes to be delievered. To which the order was not delievered in its entirety. Two drinks were delivered followed by the manager delivering the remaining two.
After being seated for over 45 minutes our dinner order was taken. We were never asked if we were interested in appetizers, no recommendations were made. I noted that I was gluten free to which I was very disappointed to find that they didnt offer gluten free bread let alone a gluten free menu. Come on Brasserie Beck! We’re in DC and this is 2018.
After our dinner entrees arrived, our server disappeared it seemed. I ordered mussels which were presented nicely. However, they were hardly hot.
Long story short for 2 rounds of drinks and dinner the bill came to $243 excluding tip. What a waste of money. I won’t be back.
Lovely clean and very pleasant restaurant. Abdel our server was a top notch professional. We had moules frites and Wiener schnitzel, both delicious and excellently prepared.
Wonderful dining experience. When we’re back in DC we will be back at Brasserie Beck.
The food was incredible and the service excellent. Main dishes have massive portions. Highly recommend this restaurant
The food and the beer list are terrific. My only complaint is that I never understand why they cram guests into two-tops when it is slow. Those small tables with two orders of mussels simply don't work. It really ruins what would otherwise be a perfect lunch.
Enjoyed it quite abit. Was our first experience there, we will be back. Had the schnitzel and it was fabulous. Also the grilled octopus was exquisite.
It has a very friendly atmosphere and a very outgoing staff. They are very conscientious of food allergies. The food choices are very broad, which should allow for everyone in a party to find something. Portions are very ample, where appropriate they have half portions.
One of the best meals I have ever had. Recommend the mussels and the grilled octopus. We had all of the desserts and they were amazing.
The one disappointment was taking carbonade off the menu.
Excellent food and excellent service.
Nice moderately quiet ambiance.
Highly highly recommend!
Best experience I have had there yet.
Excellent range of choices on the menu with fresh seasonal cocktails. Wine pairing was perfect for all 4 with different entrees - we even splurged on desserts because each dish had exceeded expectations. Look forward to returning soon!
This was perfect for out of town guests to join for sunday brunch.
Was so happy to find this restaurant! It really was a great dining experience in an energetic, fun atmosphere which reminded me of bistro's I've eaten at in Europe. The service was wonderful from everyone....the manager, hostess and server all went above & beyond to make sure we had a wonderful dining experience! Wish I lived in DC, but will definitely recommend it as a place not to miss while visiting & I plan to come again the next time in town. Every menu item was superb we experienced!
Excellent, as expected.
Great advice from our beer sommelier.
