Brasserie Beck Ratings and Reviews
Very enjoyable meal. Service was attentive and pleasant. Of course, that said, we did show up on a Monday Holiday evening (MLK) on one of the coldest days of the season. Staff was obviously pleased to see us. Seeing how much (empty) seating they had, including a large outdoor space (unused) I can imagine that might be different on some other day in some other season. But we had a very nice experience for our efforts to come out in the cold.
My girlfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary. I on a whim noted this on the OpenTable reservation. There was champagne waiting at our table and they brought us a special desert with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. Adam, the GM, was incredibly personable and has earned a repeat customer. Their beer list is remarkable as well!
Food was excellent especially on a cold December night. The service was annoying. I don't think the staff had enough to do. The were clearing plates before everyone at the table was finished. Put down a fork or glass, they were there grabbing plates up. Too much hovering . Let us eat in peace! Be attentive but not intrusive.
We mentioned in the Open Table reservation that we were 2 couples each celebrating our 48th anniversary. We also mentioned it to the hostess upon entering the restaurantas well as our waiter when he took the order. All seemed indifferent. No one ever acknowledged that fact. We turned down dessert only to find after speaking with the maitre d' that they had planned to give us complimentary desserts. Neither he, nor the hostess, nor the waiter ever told us that!
The food was also not up to usual standards. The sauce for the mussels as well as the fries were way too salty...
We had the raw oysters and they were delicious. I also had the mussels with the spicy Thai curry sauce, which was too salty and didn't taste like it had much coconut milk. The frites were perfect - crispy and nicely seasoned. I just think the food is not worth the price.
Always amazing! It is our family favorite. Incredible mussels, terrific beers, and great service. We are huge fans of all of Robert Weidmayer's restaurants but this one is affordable enough for hosting our large family yet it's more than fit for our well-traveled foodie pickiness. We recommend it constantly to locals and out-of-towners.
We’ve been here many times before, this time was the first disappointment. My husband’s Bouillabaisse was late and apparently not very good. My scallops were very salty. Perhaps the regular crew was off for the holiday weekend? Usually much better. I still recommend it highly.
We met 4 friends for a holiday celebration there. We hung out at the bar for a little while before our table was ready. It was a really nice scene and the Manhattans were great! We were shown to our table right on time for our 7:30 reservation. I was excited to order because I had seen the head chef/owner on the show "Chopped" and had read many good reviews. I was expecting REALLY good food. I ordered the diver scallops which were cooked well but somehow were just good - not great. My husband enjoyed the duck but did not really care for any of the accompanying items so left most of it on the plate. The rest of our party ordered different items and I didn't hear any rave reviews. Overall the experience was fine but I don't think we will be returning any time soon.
We’ve always enjoyed your food over the years! This Thanksgiving, I ordered the turkey (as I did last year) and found the portion size (of everything) to be much smaller than last year; Last year, I was offered more food, but declined; this year, no offer; my wife (she got mussels) commented that my dinner was not good value; The online menu did not mention anything about being offered more food (unlike last year). This is certainly not a criticism of the preparation of any of our meals. Like I said, the food is always good! Bruce Sallen
