The mussels were lukewarm. I've had them several times before and it was always hot but this time it was almost cold. Also fries were not hot.
Limited selection in lunch menu but everything was tasty and service was prompt and cordial. Dark beer is awesome ! Will definitely come back
We were seated outside at 8 pm on the patio and it was a great urban dining experience. The food was excellent. We split the Beet salad appetizer, which was plenty for 2. The Wiener Schnitzel was excellent, thin, tasty, nicely cooked. The Mussels in White Wine were good and my husband loved them. I'm much more of a garlic and butter sauce person, so I wasn't overjoyed, but it was still a good sauce. This is a great café-like experience.
My only objection was the service. Management had apparently assigned too many tables to our server. He was right there when we started. But after we ordered, he was hard to get back while he waited on other tables. We had to ask another waiter who brought us our appetizer to also bring us cutlery to eat it and bread. Our waiter came back as we were starting our meals to ask about drinks and I said "in a bit." Mistake. He finally came back to take my order when I was halfway through and didn't bring the wine until I was finished. I should have sent it back. He was nice and polite, but clearly overworked.
Still, I'd go back. Perhaps the service problem was an anomaly.
The seating outside was very poor, the tables all broken and waiters not attentive.
We ate outside and the host had to kill numerous cockroaches that were crawling around our table. Did not make for a nice experience.
Apps great, entrees just ok
It was a great meal and service. We sat outside. The only issue was that there was a sewage smell.
My group had a great time. They loved the food, including dessert, as did I. Anytime, I have a work group to entertain, I am going to come to Brasserie Beck. Thanks
Lovely evening sitting outside. Great service. Fab food. Couldn't be happier!
Excellent food of a traditional American-Belgian kind. The service was friendly and attentive. And at least the Sunday I was there (party of 5), the restaurant was not too crowded, so it was very pleasant for good conversation while enjoying solidly delicious food.
We went for restaurant week. Arrived early and were quickly seated. Waiters were attentive but didn't hover. Food arrived promptly and was delicious. Excellent value.
Our first visit to Brasserie Beck was during Restaurant Week. Their choices on the $35 fixed price menu included some of their more expensive menu items (steak tartar, short rib). All the food was excellent. Our server was attentive but not obtrusive, and he knew everything about the ingredients and preparation of the dishes. He also was well-informed on the Belgian beers. Atmosphere is very European. We definitely will return, even at full price!
It was good dishes what we had on restaurant week. Mussels comes with fries which is very delicious.
Need better air conditioning. Consider revolving doors to keep the heat out in the summer and cold out in the winter.
grear place for birthday celebration！
We always like to go to Beck’s. The mussels are my favorite, although this time they were a bit smaller. The broth is yummy and the double fried French fries are wonderful. This time we went at 2:00 and the place was almost empty.
We love this place as it extremely reliable. What I mean is that we can always expect a great experience. Delicious food and great service!
Great food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommended
Salmon burger was just ok. I'd have preferred mussels but didn't want to spend $27 for lunch. Service was very good.
Brought two different clients to Brassiere Beck on different nights. Both came away thinking it was a great dinner. Highly recommended!
I always enjoy dining here. I’ve been numerous times for all types of occasions...brunches and dinners. The service is always great and the food is delicious but sometimes I feel some of their options are a little overpriced. But regardless it never stops me from going… LOL. I’ve been countless times and that’s really the only “con” about the place. The pros are the food and service which definitely outweigh it.
Good attempt but not the best Brasserie I’ve been to
It is a rare treat to discover a restaurant where every draft beer is one that my husband wants to order-the selection of Belgians is EXCEPTIONAL, and the food put it over the top. When visiting DC, a MUST-try spot for beer-lovers.
Good folks who really messed up our order. When I mentioned we had not yet recieved our appetizer after 40 minutes, the GM took over and made things happen quickly. They did their best to make up for loosing our order, but it made for a stresssful experience. Food was excellent. We will give them another try!
We had some friends come into the city this weekend and we’re so glad that we ate here. The ambiance and staff were amazing, it was like we were dining at a friend’s/family home. The services was top notch. The GM even came over to check in and say hello. They have a massive beer menu and our server was very knowledgeable with providing and pairing beers for those who wanted to indulge at our table. The food was so delicious. Everyone got something different and we enjoyed everything we had. The rib eye and salmon were so delightful prepared. We wrapped up our dinner with the goat cheesecake, it was something we’d never had before, and we all loved it. After this experience, BB has risen to the top of our list of go to places when we are in the city. We’ve been to other establishments when a party of 6 is too much and the service fails, they did not miss the mark. This experience was above and beyond, we can’t wait to go back. Thank you all at BB for making our evening so memorable.
The food as usual was delicious. My colleague enjoyed her first visit. However, they were out of the salmon burger. Nonetheless, her other seafood selection was delicious
Wanted to go out for a nice date but not a stuffy place. This place was perfect. Food & beer were incredible & the service was professional and prompt.
The food, the atmosphere, the wine, the service...everything is beyond superb! I cannot wait to return!
Party of six, we had mussells and salmon and short rib and chicken dishes, all very delicious and service was very good. Great place to meet for talking and lingering over food--really extensive beer choices including lambec and fruit beers not always seen with such a large selection
Good service. New chef, Michelin Star chef Andrew Cleverdon from SIREN has done wonders with the menu. This established restaurant has been given a new and vastly improved lease on life.
Brasserie Beck is a favorite. Great staff, service, and a solid wine list.
We’ve never been disappointed with the food at Brasserie Beck, and this trip was no different. We wish there was a Belgian-style restaurant in NYC that matched the quality here. On this visit, we found ourselves walking around DC in the summer heat, and decided to go an hour and a half before our reservation - and just in time for happy hour. The drinks were refreshing, the bartender was fun, and we had a great evening overall.
Limited menu. Mussels the big thing and they’re good. But the fries you can get with them were surprisingly mushy for a signature dish.
Excellent loup de mer (whole fish) topped with clams and mussels was the standout
Great choices in brunch menu. We will be back for dinner.
An exceptional meal! We dined on a fairly quiet Saturday evening. Our reservation was honored, and we were seated comfortably at a cozy window table. Service was outstanding, perfectly timed, with good suggestions. The food was exquisite. My companion loved the lobster bisque, and my own raclette was out of this world. The mussels in white wine and steak frites were authentically Belgian—perfectly prepared, and very amply portioned. Did not save room for dessert, but hope to try it on return, as this will be my new go-to in DC!
Wonderful staff with an especially nice manager and knowledgeable waiter. Food delicious.
Waiter was a little too attentive to start- made us fell a little rushed
This was, hands down, the best service I have ever received from a restaurant in D.C. in the 10 years I've lived here -- from our waiter John to 2 managers who sought our feedback and had us taste some new dishes. We were given a great table for 2 by the window and doted on for 2 hours. I'm definitely coming back. The mussels were exceptional with generous portions -- I highly recommend them.
What can I say about this place?I came here not expecting anything and left amazed.
The food was spectacular, the cute little table by the window was perfect, the service was attentive but not overwhelming.
Would definitely come back!
